Title: Good book, GREAT movie!
Review: Samantha Kingston (Zoey Deutch) is the epitome of a mean girl. She and her three friends rule the school. Their favorite past time? Tormenting Juliet Sykes (Elena Kampouris) by calling her psycho and other dehumanizing names. Today is a special day. Itâs Cupid Day, and theyâll be getting tons of roses. Today is also the day that Samantha hands her V-card over to her boyfriend. But first sheâs going to a party, hosted by her former childhood friend (Logan Miller), whom she never talks to anymore. Something happens at that party, an event so unpleasant that she and her friends leave the party early, resulting in a car wreck that kills them all. Or does it? Thereâs no way to know for sure. You see, it never happened, because today is yesterday. Samantha repeats the same day over and over. Same conversations. Same party. Same unpleasant event. Same car accident. In order for it to stop, Samantha will have to make some big changes, and some major sacrifices...âMaybe for you thereâs a tomorrow. Maybe for you thereâs one-thousand or three-thousand, or ten. So much time, you can bathe in it. So much time, you can waste it. But for some of us, thereâs only today, and what you do today matters.âI read the Lauren Oliver book when it first came out, and I remember thinking how well written and moving it was. It had atmosphere, life-like descriptions, a three-dimensional heroine â all of the makings of a great Young Adult novel. My problem with it? It was repetitive, but thatâs what happens when you write the YA version of GROUNDHOG DAY. And thatâs what this movie is â GROUNDHOG DAY, high school edition. Thereâs a twist to it though, but I wonât go into it. This is a great adaptation, thought provoking and hauntingly beautiful. It centers on personal growth â and this growth stems from the choices we make. Loved it! The cast is great. It has Logan Miller, who plays the obnoxious Martin in LOVE, SIMON. He is adorable in this movie though. And I recognized Zoey Deutch from Netflixâs SET IT UP. She has one of the prettiest and most natural smiles Iâve seen in recent actresses, right up there with GAME OF THRONEâs Emilia Clarke. Her deep brown eyes reminded me of someone and, sure enough, she is Lea Thompsonâs daughter. I see this actress getting lots of screen time in the next few years. As for the setting, I love the grayish, misty cinematography, and the scene where Samantha and Juliet run in the dark woods is my favorite! I recommend this movie a lot. Downsides? Weâll always compare this movie to GROUNDHOG DAY. Nothing we can do about that. GROUNDHOG DAY is a great film, and being compared to it is a big compliment. I give BEFORE I FALL five enthusiastic Crème de la Honey Crème cappuccinos (Miniâs Special!).Â

Title: Hahahahaha, it still has a message. Even if the tropes are strong in this one.
Review: Okay, okay. After the last two wildly entertaining eviscerations of this flick in the reviews, I had to watch it for the grins and giggles. Does not disappoint: however, if the storyline is what pulled you in here. Well, yeah, there are much better movies with this same storyline. The fabulous Happy Death Day with the only actress I am in love with, Jessica Rothe. Also, Sliding doors with Gwennie Paltrow. And Bill Murray chewing up and creating the feast that is Groundhog day. Those are better by far. Warning ...Happy Death Day is kind of a horror film, but yet it is not. So good.Anyway, watch this movie but imagine the amazing Jennifer Beals in the lead role. And maybe Johnny Depp as the daddy. I mean, they would have had to rewrite the whole script to match their ages, but it would have been worth it. Jennifer Beals gave me Flashdance at a time when my life was terrible. Living in my car and showering at the YMCA terrible. I must have watched that movie of the steel town dancing dynamo chickie one hundred times. Jennifer Beals can ACT and in this movie, she was relegated to the stereotypical over protective mommy living in a mansion. What a waste. And I would cast Johnny Depp because he is a good guy and deserves a chance. I don't believe you Amber Heard. Dad could be Captain Jack Sparrow. Yeah. That will work when I rewrite this messy script.Still, it has a nice message. Gather round my sweet peeps and let this old grandma tell you the message...Ready? People matter. People matter more than fitting in, and being cool, and twerking, and taking selfies, etc..etc..etc.. You worry as a youngin if other people gonna like you in high school cause you don't realize high school is HEdouble toothpicks, and you gotta get yourself out fast as you can. The real world is a mix of people from everywhere and anywhere, of all ages doing all kinds of crazy and different things. The real world is so much more fun than high school. This movie is upper crust 1980's East Coast type babes who have all the good life handed to them, and don't understand how blessed they are. So they bully and make fun of anyone different... though the girl they bully is so freaking pretty it does not really work. Seriously the bullied girl was gorgeous, haha. There are all kinds of shenanigans and mixed metaphors and subtle understandings saying that we gotta pay better attention to each other and love each other more softly, more fiercely. At the end the character metaphorically dies to what she was. It's bizarre but it's okay at 4am during a pandemic when there is nothing better to do than watch this movie and eat seven Trader Joe's cafe latte popsicles as fast as you can.I am walking away with kind of a nice feeling in my heart after watching. Sure, it is dated. But I am reminded to respect people a little more, you know? Leave them with nice memories of me and the way I made them feel either good or happy about themselves. Also, yeah, sometimes you gotta sacrifice yourself for love, and that is hard. But you choose to open up to love, you eventually gonna get burned.Basically, this movie in a nutshelll? Sometimes you the windshield , and sometimes you the bug. It's okay. The props are nice, and I am rewriting the script to star Jennifer Beals in leg warmers as the lead. No, Johnny is not actually in this movie. Pity.Bless, and stay safe everyone.

Title: If you like supernatural, you will like this one.
Review: I thought it was really well done. Acting is very good, keeps your attention throughout. LOVE the music! As everyone has already stated it's Mean Girls meets Groundhog Day with an awesome message young people need to learn NOW rather than waiting till old or 🙁 too late. I plan to watch this with my teenage granddaughter. Recommend!
