A celebrity memoir unlike any other, this is an empowering, sex-positive, behind-the-scenes look at both Hollywood and the porn industry. Perfect for fans of Pleasure Activism and How to Make Love Like a Porn Star.

Maitland Ward got her start in acting as a teenager when she was cast in The Bold and the Beautiful, but it wasn’t until she joined the later seasons of the sitcom Boy Meets World that she got her first taste of fame. As the loveable co-ed Rachel McGuire, Ward soon found herself being typecast as the good girl next door and was repeatedly denied darker, more intriguing roles. So she made a career change—one that required her to turn away from the Disney universe—and eventually established herself as one of the most-respected actresses in the porn industry today.

Now, Ward reveals the ups and downs of her fascinating career, including personal stories from her time on one of the most beloved shows of the 1990s, in this anything but a run-of-the-mill memoir. By showing Hollywood and triple-X stardom in a whole new light, she offers a fresh and stirring perspective on the sex industry and “champions the discovery of freedom in sexuality” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review). Ultimately a story of hope and triumph, thisis a sharp and provocative look at a former Disney princess who found her fairy tale in porn.

Title: Good book
Review: I discovered Maitland’s work when she appeared on Boy Meets World, which was one of my family’s favorite shows. While I have never seen any of her work on Deeper or Vixen, I have enjoyed her work on Boy Meets World and White Chicks. I enjoyed reading this book and learning about her journey in Hollywood and beyond.Loved the part referring to Jack and Jennifer (Days of Our Lives) having sex for the first time. This reminded me about how excited my friend and I were about that happening and how we had rushed home from the library that day so we would not miss it. I was a huge Days of Our Lives fan.Well written, easy to read. Full of passion and honesty. This has to be one of the best books I have read all year.I would recommend it to any fan from any of Maitland’s work.

Title: True biography
Review: Maitland has the personality driven by honesty that creates the most intrigue of a life driven by authenticity. She's of course naturally gifted to accomplish this. Well written and laced well. I like efforts to revise the direction of porn and mainstream also discussed here.

Title: Something a little different
Review: I would rate this book at 3 1/2 stars out of 5.Maitland Ward you may be familiar with as a star on a program called Boy Meets World that was popular on network television. She was on this program in years 6 and 7 of the series where she played the character Racheal. What you may not know is she got her start in the soap opera world. This story told by herself starts out with her growing up in Long Beach and how she made it into Television. After what she claims to have been discarded by Hollywood, she made a transition that few if any have taken from mainstream acting into the adult entertainment world and being very successful at it. Along the way she openly discusses her sex life starting with her first-time having sex up to and including some of her performances on film. She discusses her relationships with both men and women and her living in the life of an open relationship if you will with what her husband supporting with. Her claim in this book is to be seen as a beacon for sexually empowered women and strive to change the view of those that work in the various forms of the industry and noting that not all are forced to be there some are definitely willing participants. If you had any doubts, there are definitely some graphics description of sex acts both on personal and professional level and the chapter on Anal play was an eye opener. There were times that this book seemed sophomoric at best and while not one to be religious myself and cannot seem agreeing with her statement that she thinks doing porn made Jesus proud. Give this read and see what you think.

Title: Good Read!
Review: Maitland's story catches you from Chapter 1 and breezes you through some key elements of her life, never bogging down in self-pity or cumbersome details, but definitely giving the reader enough emotion and insight to care. Her growth as a person is fascinating, but another layer of her story is a look at how the current Hollywood system works. Sometimes magical, sometimes brutal, she illustrates all sides of how the system manipulates and uses actors. Often, they roll with the punches, but sometimes people like Maitland decide not to sell their souls for The Machine and do what they want to do. This really is a tale of a woman who awakened to her own identity and is doing what she wants without compromising to judgement or fear. Recommended read!

Title: Great read & reread
Review: This book has everything a book or movie should be. It has laughs, tears & a true story about a woman finding her way and her authentic self. Yes, it has some explicit sex. However, it is a small part of the book. The book really is the journey of a woman who gains strength and independence through becoming sex positive. Lastly, the book is just fun. I have read the book and listened to it on Audible multiple times. I highly recommend this book.

Title: What’s your authentic journey?
Review: A funny, no-holds-barred story of a woman (Maitland Ward) who found her true self and mission after being told who to be and how to behave her whole life.Maitland humanizes SWers in a way I’ve never read before, and she humanizes herself. Three are people who will read this book just for gossip or prurient interest (no shame, I get it!) only to find themselves seen and encouraged to follow their bliss wherever it may take them.10/10. Review: Another story of an aspiring actress who can only get small parts in TV or movies. So transitions to porn and then wins awards for 'best actress'. So the author then promotes porn as an art form. I believe another failed day time drama actress did the same, thing 8 years ago.

Review: So I'm not a dedicated follower of Maitland but I'm certainly interested in the back story she has. I found this enlightening and compulsive reading, she detailed her story and how the Hollywood system for both Film and TV is broken and tilted to the stars that will do what they are told by agents, publicists, directors and executives. It's not for everyone but if you have any interest in the political nature of Hollywood and the way the system is twisted to what the stars can bring to 'me' is enough to make you want to be sick. The star that is named Kat is a great illustration of someone hiding their sexuality to obviously retain her gravy train and her agent who wants to represent Maitland after her first big porn film melts the Internet is a fine example.Maitland doesn't have faults, she won't want to be excused for what she does, it's who she is, but how she gets from A to B is all logical and in truth probably the best result. If only more people were unapologetic about lifestyle choices we would all be in a better place. The rest of the world needs to look at the porn industry with a more open attitude and Hollywood could learn a lot from the Porn stars and directors out there.
