“A wise and fresh approach to mindful parenting.” (Tara Brach, author of Radical Acceptance)
A kinder, more compassionate world starts with kind and compassionate kids. In Raising Good Humans, you’ll find powerful and practical strategies to break free from “reactive parenting” habits and raise kind, cooperative, and confident kids.
Whether you’re running late for school, trying to get your child to eat their vegetables, or dealing with an epic meltdown in the checkout line at a grocery store - being a parent is hard work! And, as parents, many of us react in times of stress without thinking - often by yelling. But what if, instead of always reacting on autopilot, you could respond thoughtfully in those moments, keep your cool, and get from A to B on time and in one piece?
With this book, you’ll find powerful mindfulness skills for calming your own stress response when difficult emotions arise. You’ll also discover strategies for cultivating respectful communication, effective conflict resolution, and reflective listening. In the process, you’ll learn to examine your own unhelpful patterns and ingrained reactions that reflect the generational habits shaped by your parents, so you can break the cycle and respond to your children in more skillful ways.
When children experience a parent reacting with kindness and patience, they learn to act with kindness as well - thereby altering generational patterns for a kinder, more compassionate future. With this essential guide, you’ll see how changing your own “autopilot reactions” can create a lasting positive impact, not just for your kids, but for generations to come.
An essential, must-listen for all parents - now more than ever.
“To raise the children we hope to raise, we have to learn to become the person we hoped to be…. This wonderful book will help you handle the ride.” (KJ Dell’Antonia, author of How to Be a Happier Parent)
“Hunter Clarke-Fields shares her wisdom and personal experience to help parents create peaceful families.” (Joanna Faber and Julie King, coauthors of How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen)

Title: Fantastic Strategies
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and enjoyed doing the work and testing the suggested strategies. Being a new parent, I was desperately searching for a new way to parent my hyper-active 5 year-old son. I was tired of all the yelling and needed a better was to communicate with him effectively. And the biggest thing this book helped me realize is that, ITS OK. It's ok if things don't get done the parents way and taking a different path to achieve the goal is ok as well. Also, to simply calm down in heated moments, which it suggests practicing meditation (I've enjoyed this, it really works).I will say you do have to put in the work and it is a huge unlearning process. Unlearning how I was raised and brought up. And he talks about that in the book ,but I will continue to use these strategies because I feel more calm and the strategies are effective.

Title: Truly one of the best parenting books!
Review: I loved this book. It was probably a little Buddhist heavy for some but it really doesnât come across preachy or as an advertisement for Buddhism. This book gave me so many pointers and instead of jumping right into the âmeatâ of strategy of how to deal with difficult kids, it gets you to look at yourself first. You deal with your past programming and the author has you learn to be more mindful and calmer so that you can pass that calmness into your children.Like I said I really got a lot out of it. But itâs a book meant to be studied and practiced not just read through once quickly. Which I was fine with!

Title: I loved this book right from the start
Review: This is an amazing book. It was hard for me to put it down. It had me in tears, recognizing the reasons for my own faults and understanding the trauma that caused them so that I can change and break the cycle of reactive parenting. I immediately noticed the difference in my communication with my children, and the way that they communicate with me. My only hope now is that I can get my husband to read this book as well.

Title: A rushed read but impactful
Review: I rushed to read this book on my Libby subscription and wish I'd had more time to really delve into the exercises. I am a huge supporter of mindful meditation and I swore Hunter was in my house watching me parent. I was raised on screaming and spanking/hitting so breaking that cycle has been a massive difficulty. I'm in therapy and have often bemoaned I CANNOT figure out my triggers. This book has me noting what's the most triggering and being able to remove them (sensory related) or work through them. This book helped me identify so many underlying issues that I was taking out unfairly on my toddler. I recommend this book to anyone looking to parent a better human, but be prepared to do the SELF WORK. because we have to become better to better our babies ð¤

Title: Very unsightful
Review: This book is very insightful, especially coming from a not so stable home as a first time Mom. I always worried about causing any emotional harm. Accidentally to my child which is why I got the book. It goes very in depth on. How to handle situations? And it just overall a great book for any parent to read especially a first time parent. One hundred percent recommend for everyone who has children or is planning on having children.
