Title: A book to think, “hmm should I”
Review: Over the course of this book, there has been numerous times where I’m like, “Yeah, of course I want to” then others I’m like, “bah, that sounds like a huge hassle” and back and forth on and on… but he does a wonderful job summing it up. Basically do it or don’t, at the end of the day action is required, and that is something you have to do yourself..But aside from that, brilliant and informative with some good jokes cast in.. a great book for starting out.

Title: Good principles, but sometimes outdated and exaggerated
Review: Good for a high level overview of concepts. But in some portions, this was written from the perspective of someone who had success back in the good old days... like when you could get a new roof for $5k and all new appliances for $1.2k. These are actual cost examples given by the author, which he uses to show how deals should work and provide a conveniently rosy picture of how he makes money. This is obviously outdated, and if you budget this way, you'll be grossly underestimating your costs. Other examples are spending $600 on a plumber to replace a hot water heater and spending $100 on roof repairs.I lost some trust in the author when he described a particular house he bought for $16,000. First, he says that it "wasn't in terrible shape, but it did need a good deal of work..." (page 137). But later, he calls it a "piece-of-junk property". In each instance, it felt like the author was using whichever description was more convenient to help make his point, but I didn't find them to be consistent.Your investment strategy will need to be based on today's realities, not costs from years ago. Also, don't rely on the math in this book, I found a major error that showed a profit $32 MILLION based on buying a $250k house after 25 years...this is laughably unrealistic. Double check every figure he provides.Remember, this is just a $15 book. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend "Start with Strategy" by Dave Meyer as an alternative, far more realistic resource (also published by BiggerPockets).

Title: You will not feel bored or distracted while you reading it
Review: This book is really great. You don’t feel like you are reading a book; instead, you feel like you are with the author in person. I highly recommend reading it with a marker to highlight the important points so you can get back to them later.

Title: Highly recommend!
Review: I have been pretty much obsessed listening to Bigger Pockets podcasts over the last year - absolutely amazing content and resources for all things real estate investing. Due to his superior marketing abilities (lol) I decided to go ahead and buy Brandon Turner's (co-host of the podcast) book on rental property investing, my main strategy for building long term wealth. I have read a ton of real estate business books over the last several years, and this one is definitely in my top 3. The writing style and information within is super accessible, easy to understand, and helped clarify my personal goals and strategies. A lot of times in real estate investing, there is not one perfect way to do things, but you just have to find the strategy that resonates and works best with your own personality and goals. This book did an awesome job of laying out the different paths one could take, outlining the pros and cons of each strategy. It definitely helped clarify the path and actions I will be taking this year, knowing that my strategy will likely change 5 years down the road. Thanks Brandon!

Review: I'm not sure why there are negative reviews of this book. I think most people want a step by step, hand holding, you can do this sweetheart book. This book does tell you how to invest in real estate step by step, but every country and even states/province's have different rules and regulations. Brandon does say that you should do your research, and if you arent willing to do that then real estate investing is not for you. Top notch book!!!! I live in canada and found a wealth of information that was relatable in my country. Thanks Brandon for your wisdom and your podcast. PS. You dont have to buy this book, all the same info is in his podcast which is free!!!!
