Featuring a low-profile, contemporary design, the First Alert PR710 Slim Photoelectric Smoke Alarm with 10-Year Battery provides the same protection as a standard smoke alarm while taking up only a fraction of the space. This slim, battery-operated smoke alarm requires no hardwiring for installation, making it an ideal solution for those who want to enhance fire safety without hiring an electrician. It features a built-in 10-year lithium-ion battery that provides continuous power for up to a decade. Equipped with an ultra-reliable photoelectric sensor, the smoke alarm detects smoke from slow-burning, smoldering fires while keeping false alarms to a minimum. A patented smoke entry system further enhances the detector's reliability by providing a direct path to the smoke sensor. The simple twist-lock mounting system installs easily onto a wall or ceiling, while the tamper-resistant locks help prevent removal of the battery to keep the alarm secure. Half as thick as a standard alarm, the smoke detector has a sleek, slim design that blends in seamlessly with most decor. A loud 85-decibel alarm sounds when smoke is detected, and a convenient test/silence button lets you easily check alarm function and mute false alarms.
Complies with all current 10-year legislation in U.S. states/cities where required
Slim shape is half as thick as a standard smoke alarm; easy twist-lock mounting system and tamper-resistant design
Equipped with photoelectric smoke sensor optimized to detect larger smoke particles produced by smoldering fires; helps minimize the number of false alarms

Title: Fit the old one.
Review: I hope this one lasts longer than 3 years. It was nice to replace it and have the backing mount still fit. Easy installation

Title: 3 of my 3 units were defective.
Review: I'm disappointed in this model of smoke detector. My brother is a firefighter and insisted I get a smoke detector for every floor of my home, and said that if I bought one with a sealed battery I would be able to set it and forget it for about 10 years. I begrudgingly spent money that had been gifted to me on these for safety rather than something fun, and I at least felt secure. Until the upstairs unit started firing off at nighttime. This must have happened 5 or 6 times, jolting me from sleep in a panic, before I disabled the unit. My brother said I should use canned air to spray through it in case something was setting it off but that didn't help. Now, less than a year after the purchase of these 3 units, I've got my basement one giving a low battery chirp every 30 seconds or so. This was supposed to last for *years*. So far the only one that hasn't shown some sign of being defective is on the ground floor, so I didn't bottom out all my star ratings but 2 out of 3 is a pretty horrible rate of defects.Update 10 June 2020: I was just woken at 6:15am to the upstairs alarm misfiring just like the first faulty one did. It looks like I'll have to replace this one too. The good news is these units are loud as hell. The bad news is whatever they don't like about my home seems to be a common issue and not a simple bug with only one of the three I originally bought. It's really disconcerting to wake up and rush through your house looking for the source of a fire you expect to end life as you know it only to realize it's just another defective smoke detector. Dropping my review to one star. 3 out of 3 units malfunctioning is a real drag, especially given that the product description brags of how its unique design cuts down on false alarms. I've filled the house with smoke cooking and the device never made a peep, but we get all 85 decibels at random while trying to sleep.

Title: I love the design of this thing.
Review: I bought these to replace these cheap and old ionization alarms the house had when we moved in. I’m not sure why but I just love the slim design of this thing. Laugh at me all you want, but some smoke alarms are eye sores, this one isn’t. It was also pretty easy to mount and test. Furthermore, since these are photoelectric alarms, I hopefully shouldn’t die because someone left a lit cigarette on their bed. If you need non hard wired smoke alarms in your house, definitely go with these since they aren’t overpriced, have a nice look to them, and have the better smoke detection technology. My only criticism is that I tested the battery that it came with and it didn’t have as much charge as it probably should have. So the alarm will likely start chirping way sooner than you would expect. In fact, I bought one of these over the summer to replace a broken one in my parent’s room, and they said it started chirping maybe four months later, so definitely have some 9 volt batteries on hand.P.S. Definitely buy the alarm that takes the 9 volt battery (PR700) over the lithium 10-year battery (PR710) since everybody says it never lasts 10 years. Better off changing the battery than being forced to toss the alarm 5 years early.

Review: Bought this in January 2024. I was looking up something up on the BRK website and then realized that I could register my device. It was then that I realized that the manufacturer date was May 2017. While the warranty is good for 10 years, which was why I purchased it, it will likely expire in only 3 years after purchase. Not sure if they will accept the 10 years from purchase date. You need to sell off your inventory sooner than you are!
