The landscape of Australian wine is cracking with new energy and historic traditions that make it one of the most exciting wine-producing countries in the world right now. But the scholarship on Australian wine hasn't always matched the output.

How to Drink Australian corrects that. It takes readers on a journey around the country, state by state, region by region. Each state has an introduction. And the most significant regions have their own separate chapters within each state.

And within that the authors consider: The evolution of wine in that region The lay of the land Wine styles The inside scoop, pressing concerns and current events in the region Key producer profiles - both up and comers and industry stalwarts.
Each regional chapter is accompanied by its own detailed map created by renowned cartographer Martin von Wyss. The maps locate important vineyards and producers as well as showcasing what makes the region tick.

A glossary and directory of the most important producers, including icons that further explain their significance to their region, is also included.

Title: Amazing Aussie Wine Reference
Review: I was planning a Margaret River wine tasting for a group of friends and, while I know quite a bit, was looking for a reference to round out my knowledge of soil profiles, heat accumulation, history of the region, etc. I turned to my world Oxford companion of wine, to my surprise they barely had a paragraph on the subject. Next I look at my atlas of wine, but they only had a single page. Finally, I looked in my wine bible, only a page and a half on the whole of WA. I came looking on Amazon and lo and behold, Jane and Jon have an amazing book with a whole 23 pages on Margaret River! Fantastic stuff. Highly, highly recommend for anyone serious about wine. What passion! Thanks you two!

Title: One of 2023's best
Review: A comprehensive guide to not only Australia's viticulture and terroir but also the people behind the viniculture. Jane and her husband do an amazing job of creating a resource for somms and wine professionals on a country that is oftentimes overlooked. These two have an excellent writing style that covers complex topics in a straightfoward way that continues to hold the reader's attention. Along with the amazing graphics, this is a must for any wine lover. To top it all off, I had the pleasure of meeting Jane at one of her release events and the human behind the book is just as incredible and kind.
