Praise for The Shadow and Bone Trilogy:

"This is what fantasy is for.” ―Laini Taylor for The New York Times on Shadow and Bone

“Set in a fascinating, unique world rich with detail, Shadow and Bone was unlike anything I've ever read. Alina is a clever, sympathetic character I will gladly follow into the next installment―which can't come soon enough!” ―Veronica Roth, New York Times–bestselling author of Divergent, on Shadow and Bone

Title: Lovely!
Review: I loved watching the series on Netflix, but I love the books even more. The emotions, tensions, complexity of characters and the chemistry brought forth on the pages are all sublime! I really loved the ending and how everything came together. Wish I could continue reading about the life of Alina and Mal!

Title: Absolutely Amazing
Review: Everything about this entire series was flawlessly arranged. The characters' flow and their development were very well organized. The perfect balance of action, adventure, love, and fantasy. I am so sorry this has come to an end. This is so different from the series, and I am very grateful. It literally puts the series to shame because this is on FIRE!!!

Title: Great Series
Review: Was looking for a good fantasy series that was easy to read. I'm a newer reader so I needed a story line and world building that was easy to follow. I absolutely LOVED this series. As I was reading, I realized I already watched the show on Netflix, but the books were so much better. Read all three books in a weeks time. Highly recommend the Shadow & Bone series.

Title: Good series from a non-reader
Review: The good - Pretty cool story line from what little I remember of the first season Netflix show but it definitely has allll the fill in the blanks detail typical of a book vs movie remake. Each character is easy to understand and determine who is who. Definitely easy to read and doesn’t have too much crazy old English or big boy words for me to figure out. The author spends time unfolding the story line or character back story or imagination of what to come and it leaves you wanting more for sure. I like the little map at the front which helps you understand the lifestyle of what’s going on and I had to reference it multiple times as I was reading. The bad/ok? - I swear the show is moving everyone to the east? At least from camera angles so that got consuming when reading about The Fold and location of other towns and cities so don’t let the Netflix show influence this book it’ll mess you up. Idk if this is the ADHD can’t sit still so I never read in my life speaking or not but, it’s sort of weird figuring out who is talking sometimes. There’s many instances that 3 people are within a conversation and the convo jump between them can get confusing but could be my ignorance within reading doing that. Plus every sentence I read I pick up ok things I remember from the show and that makes me have to reread it.The WTH - As always you question how shipping or quality will go with this type of thing. Everything seems in good shape but the third photo I’ll post will show a cut on the inside of a beginning page. It looks very clean so more than likely it came from production and I haven’t found any other issues so it’s minor but still a little wack. Also why do you have to publish the corny Netflix sticker on it and ruin the look of the book? Put it on the wrapper. K I’m done

Title: This was the most enjoyment I’ve gotten out of reading in a LONG time.
Review: Just finished this trilogy and I just have to say… this was the most enjoyment I’ve gotten out of reading in a LONG time. The characters were amazing, and I really found myself rooting for the bad guy… even though I knew, it couldn’t end well for him.Because the author was drawing from a lot of different cultures and several of the characters are mixed, I had a hard time picturing it at first—BUT— there’s a tv show! Also amazing by the way. Once I had some faces and images to go with the books I was hooked. The author is also writing the tv show, so their portrayal on screen is true to the characters but she does change some stuff! It’s sort of like the book is her second draft and the tv series is the third draft, and I love both! There is a second series I haven’t read yet, house of crows or something and that series is being tied into the tv show, I’m not sure in what ways because I haven’t read those yet.Over all, it has a similar feel and hook as the twilight series, though less teeny. It’s not about high school students, thank goodness 😅. But it has an interesting take on a familiar subject (magic vs vampires), fantastic characters you want to know more about and care how things work out for, and really nice romantic tension that feels spicy-without getting raunchy or over the top. Also, the plot was not too predictable but played out in a way that felt like a good pay off in the end.Being in a book club and a writing club, I spend a lot of time picking apart writing/books… these were amazing! It’s such a rare treat to say that… but they were really, really good. Wish I could high five this author and the whole team of people that helped her make these books shine the way they do. 🖤
