Title: A beautiful story
Review: I always wondered if anybody could write a story about school shootings. Iâm not surprised that Sharon Sala is the one to do it. Sheâs a fantastic writer and into detail. She also shows the strength of community and of the person who is at the heart of it. Not one to focus on the villain, she instead focuses on the ones who suffered through it. Then brings back a sense of peace to everyone. It was nice to see a good ending from that.

Title: Outstanding Sweet Romance similar to Blessings series
Review: The Next Best Day is Sharon Salaâs newest standalone sweet romance, in the same category as her Blessings series.Katie McGrath is a 29-year-old first grade teacher in Albuquerque who learns on her wedding day, immediately before the service, that her groom eloped with another woman the day before. Then six weeks later her world is shattered when she is shot while protecting her students during a school shooting. Katie physically recovers but suffers from PTSD so she decides to relocate to a small-town Borden's Gap, Tennessee.Katie is immediately attracted to her handsome widowed neighbor, Police Chief Sam Youngblood, and his adorable 6-year-old twin daughters. Sam is a perfect hero who brings Katie out of her shell while he waits for her emotions to stabilize. Many scenes take place at the school or involve Katieâs teaching duties. There are several subplots that involve sensitive topics but they are handled well and the victims are able to overcome their circumstances. The author ensures that the villains are dealt with. There are many minor characters and multiple subplots in The Next Best Day, but the author provides plenty of descriptions so that itâs easy for the reader to keep track. There is a small amount of situational profanity, and the romantic scenes are closed-door. This is one of the top two books that I have read this year, and I urge all romance readers to get a copy of The Next Best Day. I would award it 6 stars (out of 5) if possible.I received an advance review copy (ARC) from NetGalley and SourceBooks-Casablanca for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Title: Fabulous story!
Review: Sharon Sala is an automatic buy for me as I love all of her books, and this book tugged at my heartstrings. Katie has had a rough start from birth on but she has always persevered and achieved her goals including becoming a teacher. When her fiance leaves her on their wedding day, itâs just one more strike against her and my heart aches for her. As she tries to get her life back on track, a gunman storms her school and she is shot while protecting her students. As a former teacher, this was so well written as it is exactly what I always feared would happen in the world we live in and how I hoped I would stand up for my âkidsâ. This was the final straw for Katie and she decides she cannot stay in Albuquerque so she applies for teaching jobs in other locations. When she decides on a very small town in Tennessee and moves it is the best thing she has ever done for her peace of mind. Her next door neighbor, Sam, is a widower with twin six year old daughters who immediately touch Katieâs heart. I love how Sam is so thoughtful not only to Katie, but so loving to his daughters and I could not put this book down. Thank you Sharon Sala for sharing your stories with us!

Title: Saving someone else will save her, too
Review: A feel-good tale in spite of its beginning in a too-real scene of a school shooting and its aftermath. Teacher Katie McGrath has to leave Albuquerque with its memories of her wedding-that-didn't-happen and being wounded by the gunman who brought to much mayhem to the children in her class. After searching for another position, she settles on little Borden's Gap, TN, and moves into a cute little rental house across the street from police chief Sam Youngblood and his twin daughters. They've never known a mother's love but he's done his best to keep them secure and safe. When Katie becomes their first grade teacher in a job she hopes she can still do with the joy she's previously enjoyed, she fears she'll never lose the nightmares that regularly visit her, but Sam intends to show her she needn't fear him ever hurting her, or anyone else, for that matter. But some of the children in her class are confronting terrible family situations, and she has to help them. Doing so means encountering and stopping a kidnapper, which opens the door to everyone in town learning the secret she's been harboring from everyone except Sam and her principal. Now what's she going to do?

Review: I enjoyed this book very much. The main reason might be that the author did not use her favorite trope of lovers reuniting after xx years; I hate that genre. In this book we get to see the 'getting to know you' part of a really good and touching love story. The main character Katie has known a lot of tragedy in her past and she is now starting a new life in Tennessee. I enjoyed her meeting Sam and his daughters, but also the various interesting characters in her new town.It made me smile when we see Katie buying a Dinah McCall book because Sharon Sala and Dinah McCall are one and the same. My favorite books under that pseudonym are The Survivors and Tallchief (yes, even though this last one is again about past lovers reuniting).Anyway, as to this present story, there was one thing that bothered me.We have a side story going on that, apart from the few first pages, has nothing to do with Katie and where the character is out of the picture very early in the story. With the book often skipping to this side story, I expected to have it reconnect at some point with Katie and Sam's story, but it didn't. It would just pop up here and there every few pages, in a contrived fashion, and had nothing to do with the rest of the book. I don't know what it was doing there; it did nothing to advance this novel at all. Those random pages could have been left out and would not have changed this story one bit. It leaves me perplexed. And this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I enjoyed this book and I know I will be re-reading it, but I will just skip the pages of this side story that goes nowhere.
