Title: Great Intro to Vegetable-Based Cooking
Review: I actually had a copy of this book years ago that finally gave up the ghost and needed to be replaced. This author has so many tasty and creative options, that it is easy to whip up some delicious and filling options to expand on your repertoire of plant-based meals. Highly recommended, cute line drawings for illustrations, so not a coffee table book, but perfect for regular use in the kitchen. I also use these recipes for great options to bring to potlucks at work or elsewhere. Everyone loves them.

Title: The New Enchanged Broccoli Forest: Mama-Delicious Vegetarian Recipes for Today's Budget-Conscious Cooks
Review: An oldie, but a goodie! Using vegetables and spices we know and can easily purchase in any supermarket (not just Whole Foods), this cookbook has recipes that deliver wonderful results! I gave this cookbook as a present to a friend ages ago. After her move to Florida, she wrote to say she'd found it again (remembered us cooking from it and wanted to know if I wanted it back). I wanted her to remember our good times cooking together and to keep and enjoy it forever! LOL I ordered another copy for a dear member of my extended family, who called to say she loved it and was so happy to see recipes that didn't call for so many exotic vegetables and/or spices. She too loved the recipes, and that says it all. I'm ordering another to add to my cookbook collection. These recipes stand up to the test of time, and are fabulous for the budget-conscious cook! Long live the Enchanted Broccoli Forest!

Title: A classic vegetarian cookbook
Review: Both this book and the original Moosewood cookbook are great primers on vegetarian cooking. They offer staple recipes and techniques that can be used as is or adapted to your own tastes. These are books that truly teach you how to cook, not just give you recipes. This style of cooking is very definitely health food, so if you're used to highly processed food with a lot of sodium it can take some getting used to and might seem flavorless, at first.

Review: Many different ethnic and cooking styles are represented in this beautiful cookbook. As with The Moosewood, this book is richly illustrated with hand drawings and includes color photos. The fat, dairy and egg content of many of the recipes has been significantly reduced without sacrificing taste! There is even a list of all the vegan, low-fat and nonfat recipes in the back of the book for easy reference. Chapters include: Soups, Salads, Breads, Sauces, Dips and Spreads, Entrees, Desserts, Menu Planning Notes, Improvisation Notes (for those chronic experimenters), and Bean and Grain Cooking Charts. Each food section has a list of recipes in the beginning in addition to the complete index in the back of the book. It is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen.

Review: My old copy has just fallen apart and I am thrilled I could still find a copy. Great recipes, and illustrations . For those of us who like healthy food and need ideas on interesting dishes this is a classic whole food guide.
