Title: I loved this book for its simplicity and step-by-step instruction
Review: As a medical provider myself, it is always interesting to me how there can be such a disconnect between Eastern and Western Medicine. That is, until you read books by Drs. Kuhn & Kurosu. There is a fair amount of information here on acupuncture, as both doctors practice this modality.Dr. Kuhn has long been known as a Chinese Medical Doctor (CMD), with background in women's health. Dr. Kurosu is a OBGYN (MD.) This book focuses on how our health can be affected by how we live our lives day to day. They discuss sleeping and eating habits and how these apply to maintaining physical and psychological homeostasis. The authors give a brief history of Western medicine juxtaposed with a solid explanation of the powerful medical system of Eastern thought. Readers will learn about tai chi, herbal remedies, and, of course, acupuncture, and the ways that these and other approaches can influence the bodyâs bioelectromagnetic energy.A forerunner to any modern book on acupuncture would be Dr. Robert Becker's "The Body Electric." He, in the early 1970's, pioneered healing, regeneration and electricity, should anyone question the theories imparted in this wellness book regarding our body's bioelectricity. The stress response is detailed in Drs. Kuhn and Kurosu's book, as this is a primary cause of anxiety, depression and more. They fully utilize the mind-body connection as they incorporate East-West philosophy. There are diagrams for basic movements (Qigong) that can activate electromagnetic fields to stimulate healing. Anyone can do these. If you are interested in a different approach to our stress-induced disorders, this book is a great tool!

Title: Good information on why, lacks depth in how
Review: I like this book.It offers a broad introduction to the underlying causesof anxiety, depression and sleep disorders;details how for some folks these issues can be inter-relatedand how they can affect other aspects of your health;and describes how a multi-dimensional, whole body approach- preferably one that blends Western and Eastern approaches -might be more beneficial than treatment based on a single modality- like the frequent default in Western medicine, pharmaceuticals. It explains how qigong/tai chi, meditation and diet in particularare useful adjuncts to most every other type of treatment.I don't, however, love this book. It's very good on why, not so good on how.Diet is given modest attention as is meditation, but the material on actually doing qigong is rudimentary, and there's nothing on getting started with a tai chi practice. If you're looking to better understand anxiety, depression and sleep disordersand how a Eastern/Western multi-disciplinary approach may helpdeal with these issues, this is a good book.If you're looking for assistance beginning a qigong/tai chi practice, you'll need to find supplemental materials/instruction elsewhere.

Title: Very helpful!
Review: Well written book by the authors. They did a great job explaining how the mind works and how we can properly take care of our body and mind. I really enjoyed the part where the authors explained some of the reasons of why we canât sleep, and the different approaches to deal with that disorder. They give us advice on gentle exercise like qigong for anxiety, depression and insomnia and a true wellness check list. Overall this is a well written book that I have enjoyed reading.

Title: Great information, and clearly presented!
Review: I really liked this book because the authors clearly show how the mind plays a huge role in its effects on a person's overall health. In particular, this book focuses on the power of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders to affect health; and then focuses on ways to use both Eastern and Western healing practices and wisdom to correct those effects and lead the person back toward health. I think the authors Kurosu and Kuhn have done an outstanding job with this work - just as they did with another work titled "True Wellness". I highly recommend this book to other readers interested in how to combine the best of both Eastern and Western healing concepts for overall health.

Title: Well written
Review: This is a book that you will want to keep in your library. It was interesting to see how the Drs. Kurosu and Kuhn combined Eastern and Western medicine to help with sleep disorders, anxiety and depression. I liked the charts that you could write on in the book to help you assess sleep disorders, I also liked the easy to understand qigong references. Well written and easy to understand.
