#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
From the acclaimed author of The Longest Ride and The Notebook comes an emotional, powerful novel about wondering if we can change—or even make our peace with—the path we’ve taken.
“Sparks is superb at what he does. The setting is postcard perfect. The characters are immensely likable. . . . This is a tidy miracle you can count on.”—The Washington Post
Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents, following in his grandfather’s military footsteps to become an Army Ranger. His whole life has been spent abroad, and he is the proverbial rolling stone: happiest when off on his next adventure, zero desire to settle down. But when his grandmother passes away, her last words to him are find where you belong. She also drops a bombshell, telling him the name of the father he never knew—and where to find him.
Tanner is due at his next posting soon, but his curiosity is piqued, and he sets out for Asheboro, North Carolina, to ask around. He’s been in town less than twenty-four hours when he meets Kaitlyn Cooper, a doctor and single mom. They both feel an immediate connection; Tanner knows Kaitlyn has a story to tell, and he wants to hear it. To Kaitlyn, Tanner is mysterious, exciting—and possibly leaving in just a few weeks.
Meanwhile, nearby, eighty-three-year-old Jasper lives alone in a cabin bordering a national forest. With only his old dog, Arlo, for company, he lives quietly, haunted by a tragic accident that took place decades before. When he hears rumors that a white deer has been spotted in the forest—a creature of legend that inspired his father and grandfather—he becomes obsessed with protecting the deer from poachers.
As these characters’ fates orbit closer together, none of them is expecting a miracle . . . but that may be exactly what is about to alter their futures forever.

Nicholas always digs deep when her writes his books. I can't tell you about it because it will ruin it for you. It is worth the read. He never disappoints. He is an incredible author who takes you on the most incredible journeys.

Title: sweet story
Review: This is a story of pain and blessing, heartbreak and love, devastating loss and great gain. I liked it! Iâve read all of Nicholas Sparks books. This was neither my favorite nor my least favorite. As always Nicholas tugs your heart strings and sometimes crushes your heart a bit. Characters were well developed. I love how he encompasses the southern traditions of faith and mystery. I particularly liked Jasper. And the ending was good.A few things I would have liked to see1. Fleshing out the story of David and Monica2. Some consequences for the Littleton boysâ¦3. A bit more time for Kaitlyn and Tanner to rekindleBut as I said I really enjoyed it⦠if you liked The Longest Ride it most reminds me of that previous work

Title: A terrific story from start to finish!
Review: I loved this book ! Its a great retelling of the Biblical story of Job. It has romance and mystery as well. Great characters, I loved the symbolism of the white deer and scripture interspersed throughout the story. I highly recommended it for teens to mature adults. I intend to recommend it to my book club also.

Title: Great story
Review: Nicholas Sparks never disappoints. Wonderful characters, I reminder of Godâs ultimate plan for us. Story kept me on the edge of my seat and engaged throughout the entire day. I didnât want it to end and now tears in my eyes I am in awe of the world I live in â of how life is not always easy but so often, we are blessed in so many ways that are not necessarily expected.

Review: This is only the second book by Mr. Sparks and it lifted my spirits as I read through the masterpiece. "The Notebook" was a wonderful book, but this was even better. What true talent in seeing the superb plot and character development ! For time well spent read this book.

Title: Such a surprise
Review: I have a bit of a knack for realizing how a book might end before I get to the ending. Took me much longer to realize this ending and I just loved it! This is a must read! Nicholas Sparks is the reason I read regularly. I love the movies made from his books and I believe Iâve read all his books. Great author and great reads. Thank you for bringing the love of reading and losing yourself in the story!
