Title: The Best And Easiest...
Review: I decided to buy this Accusharp hand held sharpener after ruining too many knives on my old grinding wheel. There are quite a few hand held, compact knife sharperners on Amazon to choose from. However now that I have had this Accusharp for a while, I feel I have made an excellent choice. The Accusharp is just about as simple as they come by design, and to use. The tough carbide sharpening stone does an excellent job with minimal pressure in sharpening any blade with just 3 or 4 light strokes. As soon as I got it I used it not only on all my kitchen knives, but on my various hunting knives as well. I also own a collection of bowie knives ranging from 9 to 16 inches in length. It did an excellent job on all the blades, regardless of the length, style, and width. (The heavier blades requiring just a little more pressure). The package directions direct one to place the knifes sharp side up on a counter and to drag the sharpener over the blade. Though I fully realize that their intention was to maximize safety on behalf of the consumer, I found it a little easier to use by holding the knife in one hand sharp side up, and then drawing the sharpener over the blade in that manner. But thats just me, you may not feel the same way. This position however does not apply to any really heavy, long bladed knives. It is best in the case of a very large knife, (and of course safer), to follow the package directions and lay it on a counter as directed. Although if you use the sharpener correctly it is very hard to actually scrape your knuckles against the blade, a nylon guard between you and the knife prevents that in any event. The very shape of the sharpener puts your knuckles pointing away from the blade. The Accusharp is comfortable, convenient, very easy to use, and most importantly, gets every knife blade I used it on extremely sharp. I am most satisfied with it.In conclusion, though some other reviewers here spoke negatively of this unit not providing as fine an edge as old fashioned honing with oil and stone would, personally I do not feel that is the point, or the promise of this sharpener. Any blade can be made into a finer shaving worthy edge with a whetstone system. That is if we all had an ample amount of time to spare and nothing else better to do. And I also have not experienced any of my knives staying any less sharp and needing more sharpening with the Accusharp as some other reviewers have made a note of. Personally I feel an edge is an edge and the length of time it stays that way has a lot more to do with the knives quality, rather than the tool or system used to get it that way. One last observation, the Accusharp sharpening stone is reversible. Meaning that after hundreds of uses when the original side starts to wear down and taking more time to do its thing, you can open the handle and reverse the stone, thus essentially starting off with a brand new sharpener all over again. I think this sharpener is excellent and does a very fine job. Its reasonably priced, and, (at the time of this writing), can be combined with something else for free shipping here on Amazon. I think its all the sharpener most of us will ever need and highly recommend it...

Title: Great price and works unbelievably well.
Review: Wow.. Wow.. Wow!The best knife sharpener I've ever used. Simple to use and has easily sharpened all my kitchen knives with a few quick passes. I can't believe this little thing works so well. Almost too well. Both my girlfriend and i have accidentally nicked our fingers when chopping veggies after using this thing. Crazy sharp. For a great price. Hopefully it lasts a long time. If not, its cheap enough to buy another but so far its holding up very well.

Title: it works for regular sharpening
Review: It works ok for sharpening but if the knife has knicks out of the blade, this sharpener will only make the nicks worse.

Review: This simple to use sharpener puts a nice edge on my knives.I find it leaves my knives sharp, not razor sharp, but very sharp. There's a small learning curve such as stroke speed, and pressure used.Very compact, stores easily

Title: Sharp knives make such a difference!
Review: I had been getting Instagram ads for a knife sharpener for months and while I had no desire to buy the expensive sharpener that was being promoted, it did make me think about how dull my knives had gotten. I found this after some research on Amazon and had fairly low expectations despite the positive reviews because the AccuSharp sharpener is so much cheaper than what I had been looking at in the IG ad.After receiving it I have sharpened all of my knives and WOW has it made a difference. It only took me 30 seconds or so per knife and the results have been dramatic - I think my knives are sharper than they were when I bought them. I still get a little giddy when I'm slicing up an apple or cutting through a steak because it's just such a different experience.I will say that the sound while sharpening a knife can be a little grating - it's not loud, but could be a little irritating to those who are sensitive to certain sounds. I don't think that's unique to this sharpener, however.

Title: Super skeptical at first ... but ... it WORKS!
Review: I'll be honest -- 10 stacks, I didn't think there was any way that an $11 thing-a-ma-jig could do much other than ruin blades, but I'm sick and tired of whetstones, drystones, $100 'world's best sharpener' gadgets, etc. so I thought I'd give this a shot -- try it on some crummy kitchen knives and if it doesn't work, oh well, hello free returns.Well, I must state before the court of public opinion, I've been converted. It works as advertised, and is as easy as it claims. Directions are simple, and the most important part is to /do it lightly/. I'm a man and I have to overcome the strong urge to 'light is good, heavy must be better'. Light, gentle pressure is the trick, keep the front flat part at a 90* angle with the blade, and maybe 5 light strokes, and sharp-sharp-sharp! You could use a sharpening steel or strop if wanting a perfect edge, but def. not needed for run of the mill stuff.I did all the kitchen knives in short order, I actually sharpened a box cutter blade (yeah I know, those blades are disposable, but I wanted to see) -- yep! back to nice and sharp again! Final test was on my beloved pocket knife -- my good friend for many years and I want to keep it that way for many more. The blade on this has been dull for some time, but I didn't want to hone it down to a stub, so I just dealt with it. 5 gentle strokes with the AccuSharp and I'm back in business -- my friend is back to cutting instead of sawing.100% sold on this little implement, well worth the $$ and makes quick work of what used to be a real chore with marginal results.Disclosure: I was NOT paid to write this review, nor received any other form of compensation or free product. I purchased this at retail cost of my own free will and choice, based solely on good reviews.PS: Have a nice day!

Review: I was skeptical when ordering. But this sharpening tool is great. I've sharpened every knife in the drawer including all my fish filet knives. Just need to finish off with a couple strokes on a good sharpening rod to smooth the edge, and you're good to go. Or not. Either way sharp as can be!
