Makita is expanding the line of cordless outdoor power equipment, and the system includes the 36V (18V X2) LXT® 21” Lawn Mower Kit (XML10CT1). With zero emissions, lower noise and reduced maintenance, the Mower is a welcome solution for efficient grass cutting. It has an efficient 36V brushless motor powered by two 18V LXT batteries, and the battery bay will hold four LXT batteries for extended run time (up to 40 minutes of run time on a single charge using four LXT 4.0Ah batteries). The Makita-built motor delivers up to 3,000 RPM. The mower offers ease-of-use features including quick height adjustments, a 2 bushel capacity grass collector, and folding handles for compact storage. For added versatility it has a 3-in-1 design that allows for mulching, bagging or rear discharge. The Lawn Mower features Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™). XPT™ is a protective seal inside the tool, and is engineered for improved operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components. It also features IPX4 weather-resistant construction for durability and long life. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Title: Working fantastic after 1 year of use!
Review: Great mower, lasts a lot longer than expected, very light for a mower, and ZERO issues. I live in the South and have to mow my grass every weekend for 7 months out of the year. The 21" makita mower makes it as painless as possible. Slap in 2 batteries and start cutting in 3 seconds.Good things worth noting:-There's a multitude of safety features including multiple deadman switches to make sure the motor does not turn unintentionally.- 2 Batteries will just about finish front yard and backyard for me.- Powerful. I have had some thick (even still wet) patches of grass that it was able to handle in a pass or two.Bad things worth noting:- Blade is on the skinnier side so hitting a large stick or tree stump will bend it out of shape. Replacement blades are hard to find and took months to come in.- If you have a large lawn you will need more batteries.

Title: Easy
Review: This mower was easy to set up and run. It does a good job. The only problem is that four batteries are not enough to mow the back yard. This takes two batteries at a time to run, however having a backup pair was not enough, had to buy two more to keep the mower running long enough to get the job done.

Title: Great mower and lightweight.
Review: This mower has plenty of power. Purchasing was an easy decision as I have other Makita tools. It mowed my front and back lawn with the 2 sets of batteries with power to spare. Love how lightweight it is and don’t see why you would need the self propelled version. The big bonus is the 4 batteries I can now use with my Makita chainsaw and other tools.

Title: Terrible
Review: The battery didn't last very long, we less than a 1/4 of an acre, and even less than that to mow, we had to charge the batteries twice. It was also heavy and hard to mauver. There is no chute for the grass to shoot put the side and so the mower keeps clogging if you don't use the bag, but even if you use the bag you ha e to change it frequently. We sent it back and purchased a SunJoe which is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The SunJoe also completes the yard with one charge as well no clogging.

Title: You may need to change some habits using gas lawnmowers.
Review: First thing is you need to put the "key" in or it won't turn on. Then you have to make sure to push in the red safety switch, to the right or when you pull the handle, it won't start. I see a lot of people complaining about the battery charge life. I don't have a huge front yard, but still only used one quarter of the battery. I did notice I had some habits that I needed to make myself aware of. For example, with a gas powered mower, you keep the throttle handle down pretty much the entire time you use it, so you don't have to pull start it again. You're not gonna wanna do that with an electric. Unless you're actually cutting, you don't want to keep that lever down. My grass was pretty long, about to my calves, so I set the level at the highest number and made a pass over my lawn. Then I set it down to a 4 and that is how long the grass was cut in the pictures. The directions say not to mow over weeds. I am assuming they mean really big ones with thick stalks, because it mowed the normal weeds without any problem. One thing I do like about this mower is it acts like a vacuum and doesn't blow grass clippings everywhere. Oh, if you decide to mulch, make sure you remove the plug inside the mower. I will update my review and let everyone know how it does with my huge backyard, which is mostly grass. If I can't do the whole yard with 4 batteries, I think I will upgrade to two 9ah batteries, which was the plan before buying. I don't think I will need to, but we will find out.Update 03/26/2024:I have two 5.0ah batteries and I mowed the front and back yards of my neighbor's house (pictured in the last 3 photos) and only used half a charge. The only thing this lawnmower needs is a light so I can keep mowing after dark.

Title: Chews through battery at an alarming pace
Review: Underpowered and consumes batteries at an insane rateUnlikely to get more than 300 square-foot of mowing out of one pair of brand name six amp hour batteries
