The first book from Memphis-based Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman, named as two of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs 2013.

Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman each grew up in extended Italian families in Memphis, Tennessee. Food Played a central role in both of their young lives, sparking in them both a passion for cooking and a joint career path. In this, their debut cookbook, these friends, chefs, and restauranteurs present a culmination of their lifelong obsessions, blending traditional southern ingredients with classic Italian techniques for a truly unique style of cooking.

Title: Great mashup of Italian recipes with a bbq edge
Review: Great mashup of Italian recipes with a bbq edge. I don't want to call it fusion because that seems affected. This mashup of food is just who these guys are as chefs. The stories are beautiful and reminded me of growing up in an Italian family. Everything we have made thus far is wonderful. I've also learned a lot about how they use ingredients to get creative with my own dishes. My only complaint is that some of the ingredients are hard to get a hold of and quite expensive, but if you cook at home vs. go out like we do, then it is a fair trade off.

Title: Best of both worlds
Review: Couldn't be better. As a North Carolinian married to an Italian woman this book provides recipesto engage both of us. Collards, hominy, risotto, ragu, and black-eyed pea tortellini. Lots of good stuff here.

Title: Awesome cookbook!!
Review: This cookbook is absolutely beautiful from front to back!! Before every recipe either Andy or Michael has written a little story about the recipe it precedes. The illustrations throughout the book are beautiful. It's very user friendly and it's really hard for me to put this book down once I have it in my hand. The recipes are very easy to follow and they all sound delicious! I cannot wait to try them. I know you will not regret ordering yourself a copy. It is a real treat!!! I would highly recommend this book to my friends and family!

Title: but I like having it nearby
Review: If you're in Memphis, go to Hog & Hominy. Get the poutine. Or go to Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen. Get the AM breakfast. I confess, I haven't yet tried to make anything in this book, but I like having it nearby, because 1) it's beautiful, and 2) it reminds me of these memorable and inventive restaurants.

Title: The recipes have great descriptors in them and are easy to follow
Review: I bought Collards & Carbonara after seeing them appear on an episode of Mind of a Chef. I was intrigued with combining Italian food with Southern, they have similar ingredients but both have heavy followings that don't necessarily appreciate devotion from the norm. However this cookbook applies both styles seamlessly. The recipes have great descriptors in them and are easy to follow. Collards & Carbonara definitely opened up my mind to twisting some of my Grandmother's recipes and adapting them to my current Southern Surroundings. If you're interested in Italian Cooking this is a fun addition to your cookbook collection.
