Title: Maybe not THE best, but some of the best
Review: I had this on vinyl & wanted to get it again on CD beacuse it does have outstanding tracks by these guys & I particularly liked the order of songs & the way they flowed into each other. This is sort of unusual for a "Best Of" compilation, but then again, the Fudge were an unusual band. The interspersed short little organ intros of "Illusions Of My Childhood Pts I, II, & III" add continuity to the album overall. It contains some of their best original material such as "Some Velvet Morning" and "Where Is My Mind", not to mention killer covers like the blistering "Shotgun" or the plaintive "You Keep Me Hangin' On" (yes, the Supreme's made it famous but Vanilla Fudge put their mark on it also). At times, Vince Martell's guitar takes on a sitar-like sound.Ending with a truly dark version of the great Donovan's "Season Of The Witch", this album showcases the Fudge's knack for deconstructing songs from various musical styles into their own unique sound as well as serving as a counterpoint to some great originals. Keep in mind that these guys put out 5 albums in 3 years, & their ratio of covers to originals leaned higher to the covers.

Title: Authentic acid rock for the archives
Review: Say what you will about a musical oddity like Vanilla Fudge, but this band is one of the best examples of the 1960s 'acid rock' genre. If you like having a music collection that reflects the wide spectrum filed under the "rock-n-roll" umbrella, then something by Vanilla Fudge is a must for the acid rock section.

Title: Only the Best Cuts here!
Review: Only the Cream cuts of Vanilla Fudfge are represented here...This was issued 2 Years before the Reunion album "Mystery" so this anticipates this one,in a Strange way...Atlantic,through their ATCO Distributed label, put this out at the Fans asking "Why isn't there a Best Of by these Long Island Lads?" So,to appease them, this was issued! I'd gotten this on Cassette,so a CD version was in Order!

Title: Thes best of Vanilla Fudge
Review: This album is okay, but it's not as good as Rhino's "Psychedelic Sundae." This 1983 issue, contains more than half of their first album which is an album of cover songs arranged in a psychedelic flavor. "Psychedelic Sundae", has something from every album, with the exception of, "The Beat Goes On". This includes most of the singles and has a few album cuts, and one unreleased song, "All In Your Mind." Rhino recently issued "The Singles Collections", which is better than the, "Best of Vanilla Fudge", but is not as good as, "Psychedelic Sundae." If you want to spend a few dollars more, you can purchase the box set, "Box of Fudge", which is a complete anthology.
