Title: A very good release of a saturday morning staple
Review: When i found out this series was out on DVD it was like all the other Batman video memorblia a must buy as i remember watching this in the late sevenites more than the superfriends just for the really well done artwork of the main charachters and that batmoblie that was a cross between an AMC Javeln and a 1959 cadillac hence the tailfins, or should i say the batfins. I always did rendtions of that car in my spare time. I love the series with only three exceptions. One is that little Batmite who is as Batman said in the very first episode "a nice guy, but a royal pain". Another is the missing faithful butler Alfred which was the father figure of Bruce Wayne/ Batman as well covered in the moives and even the original antimated series voiced by Olan Soule/ Casey Kasem. The final last little peeve was the episode "A sweet surpirse for Gotham" which you got to admit like all saturday morning toons at the time were geared for teaching a lesson in life in this case the results of eating too many sweets. I had lost some weight this past year and frankly that menisis was really replusive in my opinion and the fact he and his kiddies were seen eating candy like there was no tomorrow. On the plus side it make one great tool for encouraging folks to eat healthier and lose weight. All that aside, i can get into this series no problem, and the fact that Adam West and Burt Ward are the voices of the Batman and Robin characters makes it all worth watching and yes there are some serious campy overtones from the original TV series, IE: Batman refers to Catwoman as "that felonieous feline" and shall we not forget Robin with the infamous catchphrase "Holy Bad Memories" well fill in the last blank.Well worth buying. Now how about releasing the late sixites aniimated Batman series!!!

Title: It's great to hear the REAL Batman and Robin reprising their roles!!!
Review: My only complaint is that there aren't more episodes. As a child I watched this show religiously on Saturday mornings for years in reruns. So when I got this DVD I was hoping to relive many childhood memories that I had all but forgotten. I was crushed to find that their were only 16 episodes produced. When watching just one episode per week it takes four months to watch them all so, it seemed like a lot more.None the less this series is excellently produced with rotoscoping to create better animation than many of the series of the day (including Filmation's previous Batman series). Best of all was the return of Adam West and Burt Ward (from the live action 1966 Batman TV series) to give voice to the animated Dynamic Duo. These two really knew the personalities of the Caped Crusaders and almost enables the viewer to forget that this is animation. If you are a fan of the Batman TV series (and who isn't?) this DVD is a must have!

Title: 77 Filmaiton Batman
Review: This is the second time Filmation had a Batman toon. recently the first Batman Filmation toon came out. Many are not a fan of this series. I dont mind it. its all good fun. is very Silver age. its not dark or gritty. it is the second Batman toon. batman would soon follow up with the more well known 90s animated version.but this series is more fun filled and more family friendly. more light but all around fun.last time Olan Soule and Cassy Casum voiced Batman and Robin. but they moved on to Superfriends. so Filmation called in Adam West and Burt ward. so in some ways you can almost view it as the fourth season to the West show. (West would go on to voice Batman for the last two seasons of Superfriends).the conflict between Hanna Barbara and Filmation can be somewhat felt with this production. the 60s Filmation show was the last time Batman had his own show. H&B he was part of a team. this show was again another solo show. due to rights issues H&B could not use Joker. who did not appear on Superfirends until the last season. The Riddler and Scarecrow were in the 60s filmation series and were key meambers of the legion of Doom. but again due to rights issues the 77 Filmation series could not use either. Riddler shows up in the title sequance wearing a different costume. but he never shows up in any in the stories. its all so wonderfuly confusing and weird.moving onwards. this 77 series was much shorter and in a different tone. again it has the West feel and the Silverage tone. so its lighter, campy, but fun. Batman and Robin fight crime facing many of their old foes. Joker and Penquin show up (this time round Penguin was not allowed to smoke). Catwoman and Mr Freeze return. Clayface makes his first animated apperance. new villains show up in the form of Sweet Tooth, Moonman, Electro, and Zarbor. through it all Batman and Robin fight crime all in the grand Filmaiton style.now in this series Batman is 'helped' by Batmite. many are not a fan of this idea. Batmite is a character from the comics. here he seems to me very much a precurser to Orko on Filmations Heman series. I dont mind him. he has his moments. some are annoyed by him. but again he is not that bad. again maybe its the orko like feel too him that makes it ok for me.Batgirl returns again to help out. it seems that she is in on the secret and also helps out at the District Attornys office. she is this time round voiced by Melody Britt, who also voices Catwoman. Britt earlier featured as Princess Aura in the Filmation Flash Gordon series. she would later become well known as She-Ra princess of power. she also voiced Sheras foe Catara (which means her stint here as Catwoman was practice for the catlikevoice).this series may not be as great as the 60s Filmation series. and it would become overshadowed by the 90s series. some love it some hate it.i liked it and would recomend it.

Title: New Adventures of Batman
Review: This sounds like a great "must purchase" DVD set, giving us the full set of 1977 New Adventures of Batman cartoons made by Filmation Studios. Adam West and Burt Ward reprise their voicing of the characters, and are joined by Batgirl (voiced by Melendy Britt), and an impish character created in the 1950s comics: Bat-Mite. The art is excellent, and expect to see plenty of favourite Batman villains like Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Clayface, as well as the new villain Zarbor, from Bat-Mite's home dimension.THEY ALSO MADE A PREVIOUS SERIES AS PART OF THE BATMAN SUPERMAN HOUR (Filmation 1968). I really hope they put that show out in full on DVD too, as I've longed to see it again since I was a kid. It would be the perfect follow-up release to this one.

Review: This includes all 16 Batman cartoons produced by Filmation in 1977. The first 6 were made for "The Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour." (Sadly we still haven't seen a release of the Tarzan segments). The remaining 10 are Batman standalones. Teamed with Batgirl, Robin and newcomer Bat-mite, Batman faces traditional DC villains like Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Clayface, Mr Freeze, as well as new characters created for this show like Chameleon, Electro, and a villain from Bat-Mite's home dimension called Zarbor in a 3 part story to wrap up the series. The only things missing are the commercial break bumpers and the teaser footage at the end of "Have an Evil Day Part 1".

Review: If you ever recall this cartoon series from the 70s and you enjoyed it, then you must purchase this DVD. It's probably only worth one watch but worth keeping in your collection if you a fan of the Batman! It's a 2 disc edition and has all episodes from it's only one season.1 THE PEST (The Joker). 2 THE MOONMAN. 3 TROUBLE INDENTITY (The Catwoman). 4 A SWEET JOKE ON GOTHAM CITY(SweetTooth) 5 THE BERMUDA RECTANGLE (Professor Bubbles) 6 CURSES, OILED AGAIN (The Catwoman & Clayface). 7 BITE-SIZED (Electro) 8 READING, WRITING, WRONGING (The Penguin. 9 THE CHAMELEON. 10 HE WHO LAUGHS LAST (The Joker). 11 THE DEEP FREEZE (Mr Freeze). 12 DEAD RINGER (Clayface). 13 BIRDS OF A FEATHER FOOL AROUND TOGETHER (The Penguin). 14 HAVE AN EVIL DAY. 15 HAVE AN EVIL DAY PART 2 (Zarbor). 16 THIS LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR BAT-MITE (Zarbor). You either love or hate Bat-Mite! Interesting to learn that The Riddler is shown on opening credits and it spoken about in episode 11 but never appeared in any of the epsiodes from it's only season. I wonder if there are a few episodes from an ill-fated Season Two that didn't quite make it that features The Riddler? Who knows.......There is also a featurette on Disc 2 which is interesting and worth a flick. This DVD is worth a purchase, if for nothing else than to keep a few memories.Happy viewing!
