When you run a museum, you decide what’s beautiful! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in the high-stakes world of fine art auctions, there's nothing more beautiful than making a buck. In modern art, players take on the role of curators, buying and selling paintings for their museum. Over the course of four rounds, they take part in a number of auctions, trying to get the best value for the pieces in their collection. Whoever makes the most money wins the game (and keeps their job).
ART AUCTION BOARD GAME: Grab your auction paddle and get ready to bid! Modern Art puts you in charge of a museum. An art auction is coming up and it’s the perfect place to buy and sell some new pieces. In the high stakes game of fine art auctions, beauty is in the eye of the bidder.
STRATEGY BOARD GAME: You control a world class museum and hope to make a pretty penny by buying and selling masterpieces of modern art. Over the course of four rounds, each player will get a chance to auction off paintings. The more popular the artist, the more money you can make on a sale.
CHALLENGING AND COMPETITIVE BIDDING GAME: There are five different types of auctions to compete in, and they all require you to have a different skill set. The winner will be the one who has earned the most money for their museum. Having good taste is only half the battle. You need to approach each sale with a cutthroat attitude if you want to walk away the winner.
FUN GAME FOR FAMILY GAME NIGHT: Modern Art features the work of some of the most talented artists in the world. Each piece that goes up for auction is breathtaking to behold. Exciting gameplay mechanics make this a great choice for both art enthusiasts and fans of strategy games.

Title: Great Game for Casual Through Seasoned Gamers
Review: Modern art is a great game with excellent production value. For those unfamiliar with the game, players take turns playing cards which depict pieces of art from 5 different artists, and then the played cards are auctioned via various auction styles. After the art is auctioned off, their value is determined, and players receive money (points) for the value of their art collection.The mechanics in this game are very thoughtful, and there is good room for banter and table talk, for those who like to have fun with that. The art in the cards is vibrant, and inspired; each artist in the game -although they were artists that I'd never heard of- has a very unique style. My main criticism of this game is that it tends to play longer than the box would indicate, but I've never minded that too much since we've always had fun the entire time. This is a great game for casual and seasoned gamers alike!

Title: Mind blowing fun
Review: This game is a ton of fun. The rules for auctioning are simple, so it’s very approachable for casual (or even non) gamers. Although the rules are straightforward, the decision-making is not always so, but because of that ambiguity, it’s usually funny instead of demoralizing when you realize you’ve made a huge mistake (it will happen). The real art depicted on the cards brings a great overall aesthetic to the game.There are few games I would BOTH highly AND universally recommend, but this is one of them.

Title: Gorgeous art update of a great auction game
Review: I have enjoyed this game since my first introduction in 2014. It's a solid and easy to explain 3 to 5 player auction game.At the time it was out of print and 2 versions existed on the used market. Due to rarity it was hard to acquire.This edition features great, actual modern art with a gorgeous portfolio and bio in the rule book of each included artist.The box is larger than prior versions however it's not oversized if you store bookwise. It fits in just fine with my collection. I like that the cards are a larger format, Dixit sized, to support the real art that is provided.
