Title: Awesome! Engaging, Inspiring, and Practical
Review: I've been following Dave for years. I've been practicing intermittent fasting up to 18 hours each day for many years. I thought I knew a lot about the benefits of fasting but this book took my knowledge to a whole new level. Since finishing the book, I've already experimented with two 24 hour fasts. The first wasn't great but the second was amazing! Dave talks a lot in the book about how we need to self-experiment to find what works best for us individually. He discusses how we are all unique and that women especially need to proceed cautiously and listen to their bodies. My first 24 your fast was definitely an experiment and I learned that having my one meal a day at dinner isn't great for me. But, having my one meal at lunch was ideal. I slept like a baby and woke up with tight skin and fewer wrinkles! I especially love the way Dave told his own personal story and described his journey in this book. It's one thing to read a practical how-to book that contains useful information, but when you read a very engaging story like this, the information sinks in so much deeper. I now have a very vivid image of Dave in the dark cave with bees swirling around him while he is trying to meditate. And, him hiking 10 miles after 4 days with no food and feeling like he is king of the world. This absolutely could and should be a movie! Not only is the book filled with lots information that is going to stick with me, but it was inspiring. I can honestly say for the first time in my life I would really like to try a 2, 3, or even 4 day fast. Not just for the physical benefits but for the spiritual ones. This was an aspect of the book that surprised me a little. I've always thought of fasting as a way to improve the health of our physical body, but Dave clearly makes a case for extended fasts as a way to rediscover yourself and to allow more of your true inner self to shine. Title: Has made fasting SOOOO much easier
Review: Using Asprey's idea of having bulletproof coffee to start the day has made fasting sooo much easier for me. I have a coffee cup that holds 16 oz. So in the morning I have a full cup of coffee with two tablespoons of Asprey's Brain Octane MCT oil along with two tablespoons of unsalted, grass-fed butter. I am mentally alert, have no hunger or sense of feeling deprived, and can go the whole day without any of the typical fasting struggles. During the day I sip on 20 oz of water with 3/4 teaspoon of Himilayan salt in it, and for "dinner" I have another large cup of unsweetened herbal tea. I realize that in doing the Bulletproof coffee fast, I'm not perfectly fasting everything, because I figure I'm taking in somewheres around 400-500 calories from the MCT oil and butter. But I look at it this way: I'm taking those fat calories (so we are not activating insulin) in, inside a one hour window, and then going 23 hours with only water or herbal tea. So I feel I'm getting about 95% of the benefits of a straight water fast, with none of the struggle. I am now easily doing 3-day fasts following this protocol, shedding extra weight, and giving my body a chance to clean house with autophagy. Whereas before I had to mentally psych myself up to do a fast, now it's becoming a no-big-deal regular practice for me, thanks to starting the day with a bulletproof coffee. A total game changer.

Title: Excellent
Review: Excellent book. Very readable, easy to follow and understand, easy to action information, well-explained science behind the concepts, plus lots of references that back up everything he says. His claim that you can fast without stress and hunger is actually true when you use his hacks, and that is a real surprise to me. He has the science to back it up, but doesn’t weigh down the main part of the book with all the scholarly proofs, but instead puts them at the end where folks who want that can access the original source. This is an interesting and new approach to fasting, making it more a method or tactic than a deprivation for a limited time for health only. This is unlike the approaches by others (such as Dr. Fung). This puts it into a context and concept that makes a lot of sense. Well-written. I definitely recommend it not just to those in their 20s or 30s, but also to those of us who are well beyond that.

Title: Good info but way too embellished.
Review: I gave this a 4 star because the info contained within the book is great. I could do without the repeated tropes though.I came for the science and I got a sappy life story and a lot of coffee advertising.This book contains the knowledge of why fasting is so beneficial, which makes it a must read for anybody uneducated on the topic.I would also say that this book recommends using ghee or yak butter in morning coffee, and I have to say that the author's knowledge of the effects of linoleic acid makes this recommendation rather puzzling. Why compromise an otherwise sound plan for fasting and increasing ketones with an easily oxidizable fat?This book does have a perspective I've never seen before and I did learn a lot, so be sure to pick it up. You will learn a lot. I just would rather it not have all the other junk.

I've had the book for a while and didn't commit fully to it until I seen him speaking on Lewis Howes YouTube channel and knew I needed to revisit it.I literally digested the entire book at a rate that I can only hope my metabolism can achieve one day. Fantastic information, easy to read, and very reasonable and sustainable information by someone who genuinely wants you to enjoy the experience above selling another fad diet.Thank you Dave! Ever since I read this book, I switched over to intermittent fasting of 16:8 which helped me to reduce my blood pressure, improved energy, reduced lethargy, more mental clarity.
