One summer. One forbidden romance. One secret to destroy them completely.

When Faye Hollings finds herself stranded at a gas station, the first person she thinks to call is the man she’s been secretly in love with for two years. The only problem? Kit Langley is one of her brother’s best friends, and completely off limits. After a traumatic encounter that has her fleeing to California, Faye finds herself in a whirlwind summer romance that tests boundaries, pool water, and how far their desires for one another stretch beneath beating hearts.

Star left defenseman and self-proclaimed ladies’ man, Kit Langley, isn’t fazed by much. But when he gets that life-changing call from his teammate’s little sister, and the one girl he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about, his whole world tilts on its axis. Kit juggles between staying loyal to his best friend, keeping an earth-shattering secret, and indulging in his own fantasies that involve a certain freckled brunette.

Faye and Kit have two months to figure out where they stand in each other’s lives. When summer starts to fade, so does the possibility of this budding relationship. With the clock counting down and their friends growing more suspicious, the two will have to decide whether to come clean or continue living a devastating lie.

Will loyalties remain unsevered, or will love blossom between two star-crossed lovers?

The Worst Kind of Promise is a hilarious summer romance featuring a lovesick hockey player, forbidden love, spice hot enough to make you question your religious values, and a not-so-foolproof scheme. It’s the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

The Worst Kind of Promise is a brother's best friend, mutual pining, one bed, forced proximity, forbidden love, summer romance with no cheating, no third-act breakup, and a satisfying happily ever after.

Title: cute and spicy hockey romance
Review: I liked this! I did not like the miscommunication that they had but for the most part they resolved it like adults so amen. But they were both cuties

Title: LOVED THIS BOOK
Review: This book was great and very easy to read. The first book in this trilogy stole my heart but this book was truly amazing. THANK YOU CELESTE BRIARS FOR YOUR WRITING! And for understanding the sides from both angles.

Title: fine
Review: this isn’t my favorite tbh. the story was meh in my opinion. too much miscommunication/lack of communication. the story was somehow never ending yet also extremely rushed. the mcs had good chemistry but their inner dialogue was really bad sometimes. the characters had long winded overly cheesy thoughts and words way too often.

Title: AMAZINGGGG
Review: everytime i read a hockey romance i think. the hockey player can’t get any better then what ive read before. you ma’am have knocked it out of the park with kit langley. he should be the gold standard for all men. his growth, his persistence and dedication to faye is unmatched. so thank you for this experience!!

Title: Kit!!!
Review: I read this book (and the first book in the series) in preparation for the third books release this monthI enjoyed this book! I liked the first book but liked this one even better. I feel like neither MMC was super likable at the start but I did find myself rooting for Kit not long into the book. I wish there was an epilogue for this book. I totally expected a surprise at the end.I am surprised that the third book is about Gage and Cali bc I would’ve bet money that Gage was going to end up with Fulton.Story: 4/5Spice: 4/5

Title: Took too long to finish
Review: I may have read too many enemies to lovers books so I may be biased. It took me too long to actually get into the novel. The elements were all there but I found the that Kit was a bit too sappy. Perhaps it was the fact that he was described as having no heart and a man of few words, but the 'sappiness' made it a bit unbelievable for me.Although I would recommend it, if you want a light fluffy read ( a twinge of darkness) and friends to lovers is your trope then this is your book. The he fell first trope is also part of this book, there were moments were this was cute. Perhaps I was expecting more.

Title: frat boy romance
Review: It quickly became a frat boy atmosphere and I somehow didn’t see that coming. They’re all college age so I guess the opening suggested a slightly older and definitely more mature characterization for everyone: fmc, mc, and fmc’s brother. As a result there’s a lot of angst, very hot and cold but no warm spots in between. The burn is quick and then immediately doused because drama, and mainly drama because no one can communicate. Also when she reveals her trauma, everyone important to her makes it about them and that’s very ick to me. Hardly any hockey references, we visit the rink twice, once for a spicy scene and then again for the spicy scene to be discovered. If you want more mature (think characters not smut, this has smut) this isn’t for you.

Review: I expected the second book to be Bristol's. Faye (being Hayes's younger sister) I guess would be the next obvious choice. She sadly had a bit of a traumatic back story which comes to light in this book and with the help of Kit, she is able to piece herself back together and find love with the big Defenseman Kit.

Review: Faye and Kit’s story starts off with a well kept secret that Faye could no longer hold on too. This kicks off their journey when Kit invites Faye to spend the summer living with his roommates (one being her older brother). This read can be triggering to some people so please check the trigger warnings. I love how you slowly see Faye get her power and her voice back. You start to see that a summer away from it all is exactly what she needs to start healing and be able to move past her demons.Poor Kit. He struggles so much with wanting to help Faye but fighting the attraction that he feels towards her. As we can predict, he loses the fight and the tender moments between them was so sweet to see.I loved catching up with Hayes and seeing more of the relationship between him and Faye. I was overall satisfied with this read but I was a really thrown off by the ending. I hope that we are given a follow up into their happily ever after.

Review: Really enjoyed the whole book and loved the characters and storyline. However the ending was horrible as it just stopped. It was if the author just forgot to put an ending. Am slightly disappointed we don’t get to see a second instalment of Faye and kit and what’s next for them,as it feels like there story isn’t finished.

THE END
