Title: A Sound Bargain
Review: I can't really comment on the content of these albums; they were the soundscape to my 20's years, and as such are familiar and deeply ingrained; loved. Bonnie Raitt is a first rate musician, singer, as well as a class act. I had these all on the original issue CD's from the mid 80's and they all sounded terrible. The Lp's were superior in sound. And I somehow missed buying the remastered versions from almost 10 years ago now, but fortunately some of them are still available-I bought a couple of them, then bought this set on one seller's comment about the great sound, and he was right on target. In fact, I did an A/B comparison to the remastered CD's I did manage to get, and to my ears the sound was identical, so my guess is Rhino used the remastered tapes for this release. THE GLOW, and GREEN LIGHT were the 2 remastered CD's for some reason not available anymore, and after 2 attempts to purchase THE GLOW from independent sellers (the 1st just sent me the original 80's CD issue, even though the product page specified it was the remastered edition being sold, so future buyers beware on that) and after that, I emailed another seller who stated "all inquiries would be answered politely and quickly" to verify that the remastered CD was indeed what was being sold, but never received an answer. Instead, a few days after my inquiry, the price went up from $10.oo+ change to $2,ooo.oo. No lie!So all Bonnie fans after THE GLOW or GREEN LIGHT remastered, get this one at 20 bucks and save 2 grand!!!

Title: Nice affordable option
Review: I am very happy to have this set. I have a couple of these in vinyl, but like having both formats and nice to catch up on 3 albums I don't know as well. I'd be even happier to have a set that included "Bonnie Raitt", "Takin' My Time", and "Give it Up" as those all include some of my very faves. Love "Streetlights" especially in this set. I am enjoying all the others as well, though I prefer both her earlier and later work to these. But still worth having, with some really classic cuts on each. The print size on the covers is a little irritating.... I imagine there will be some other presbyopics buying these.

Title: Hall of Fame Lineups
Review: Bonnie’s roots! Bonnie surrounded herself with the best musicians she could find and she pulled more out of them than others ever did. Her work with Lowell George and his band mates in Little Feat on several of these albums make the price of admission worth it alone. Tag on Freebo, Junior Wells, Paul Butterfield, John Hall, Merle Saunders, Jim Keltner, JD Souther, Jackson Browne, Jeff Porcaro and Tom Waits and you’ve got a series of Hall of Fame worthy albums. Always a student of the craft, she covers tunes by Browne, Sippie Wallace, Stephen Stills, Joni Mitchell, John Prine, James Taylor, Del Shannon, Delbert McClinton, Allen Toussaint and Mississippi Fred McDowell in addition to her own great songwriting.I popped these 5 CDs into my car while heading off for a weekend of skiing and they made the roadtrip so much more enjoyable! This package is a total bargain. Buy it!

Title: Bonnie, and cheap
Review: Bonnie Raitt"s mid-seventies output is her best. You have three great albums in Street Lights, Home Plate and Sweet Forgiveness and two pretty good ones in The Glow and Green Light. Her varied styles (New Orleans funk, plaintive laments and always roots in the blues) are on display here and you can get it for $20!I personally like Home Plate and Street Lights best. Allen Toussaint produced Home Plate and it sizzles, especially "What Do You Want The Girl To Do" and "Sugar Mama." Street Lights is more introspective in tone -That Song About The Midway" is a highlight, along with the title tune.If you like Bonnie, this is a great way to get a heaping helping of this great blues interpreter. I could write a whole other review on her amazing slide guitar virtuosity, but I need not because if you fork over a measly $20, you can find about it for yourself.

Title: Quite a Pleasant Surprise
Review: A set of excellent CDs. I got mine through the Amazon Marketplace for less than $20 delivered. This is the kind of music I really appreciate. A singer with a good voice who is backed up by superb accompaniment rather than being buried beneath a wall of sound. The people who entered the albums of this set into FreeDB seem to disagree on the genre. They seem to consider this to be either blues or country. I'd call it something like country rock or folk rock. The accompaniment is definitely rock, but the lyrics could fit many genres, including blues, country or rock or even folk. This is a must have set, even for people like me who never heard of Bonnie Raitt. The sound quality is beyond question and the music is simplyy fantastic.

Title: Great value in minimalist packaging
Review: Like a lot of listeners, I came to appreciate Bonnie Raitt's music when her popularity peaked in the late '80s and early '90s and really didn't explore much of her back catalog past what was included in her "Collection" album. This attractively priced series collection of five of her earlier albums is a great way to add those titles to my library without breaking the bank. My only disappointment is in the minimalist packaging. Each CD comes in a cardboard sleeve that appears to be a scaled down version of the original LP sleeve, which means most of the text is unreadable and of course, there are no liner notes or lyrics. It would have been nice if there had been a booklet included with that content. But rather than focus on what isn't there, better to focus on what is--five CDs filled with great music from one of the great musicians of our time.
