The greatest love songs break your heart.
When I meet Julian Ashburn, the reclusive frontman of indie-rock legends Breaking Giants, I do what any sane woman would do. Embarrass myself, then insult him. Because you only live once, right?
Besides, keeping my distance from the enigmatic, songwriting genius is an act of self-preservation. Julian is dangerous—a pool of kerosine to my pyromaniac.
I have a weakness for broken men.
But sometimes the stories we tell and the songs we sing—about family, love, and ourselves—have to be rewritten in order for us to grow. Call it fate, or stars aligning, or cosmic accident, but I'm about to find out that of the two of us, Julian isn't the broken one.
Breaking Giants is a full-length standalone rockstar romance with alllll the angst. HEA guaranteed.

Title: 5 he's forbidden fruit stars!!
Review: Rose Cunningham is the daughter of two now deceased legends from the music industry. She has her own musical talent, a cafe she owns with her cousin Owen, and also a ton of ignored baggage from her past. Insert one Julian Ashburn. The front man of rock band Breaking Giants, and one of Rose's musical idols. There is an instant connection between the two of them. It's a bit awkward, it's pretty sweet, and there's obviously a static buzz between them. These two obviously belong together, but their pasts and outside influences keep getting in their way. Not to mention neither one of them is truly ready for each other. What are you supposed to do when you're meant to be, but your timing is a bit off? Read this book and find out! So many angsty things happen, but it all feels real and true to the characters. The main characters feel relatable even though their circumstances are a bit extraordinary. The side characters had so much personality, and really shone individually. I was so invested in some of them and their stories. Cough, Mattie, cough. That's great story telling, when you can't wait for the next time you hear from a character who isn't even a main character. The relationships between the characters, main and side, felt real and deep without having much growth displayed. The dialogue felt natural and like actual conversations you'd have with friends and family. The song lyrics were great. This author is clearly very talented. I caught myself trying to make up music to go with some of the words.I have been absolutely blown away by this story. It was so much more than just a rocker/musical romance. Not only was it amazingly well written, but it was enthralling. I did not want to put it down! Told from Roses's first person POV, and an epilogue from someone else's. The romance is angsty, but sweet. The naughty bits are hot without being super smutty, and the story is just really damn good. L.M. Halloran is an amazing author and I can not wait to see what she gives us next!Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys some angst, with a non-conventional slow burn romance between two people who can't stand being apart, but are.

Title: whirlwind
Review: It was a good book, emotionally draining, but often in a good way. I loved the individual characters. Iâm a little disappointed in Julianâs behavior after he told her he loved her- I think it was implied that he would wait. Thatâs how I took his words. Im disappointed that he didnât seem to understand after his back and forth that she wouldnât be messed up from it and wouldnât be able to trust him. No one expected him to wait forever, but dang he can be so insightful and self heal but also canât understand that his actions left her waiting for him and untrusting that he wouldnât do it again. Iâm disappointed there wasnât any conversation about what she overheard and more with Sheridan. I kind of felt betrayed for her. I also wish there was more to the epilogue considering it was the only POV from him.

Title: SPOILER ALERT**
Review: SPOILER ALERT **Iâm going to review and vent a little about this story so if you donât want to know any details skip this one.First I did enjoy the story. It had me hooked and I became invested in these two people from the very first chapter. I love this authors writing. Having said this....I seriously was thinking pretty often how truly bone headed this guy was. I understand that as a much younger version of himself he was on the wrong road. I can see how he figures out before itâs too late that he needs to change or his life will be lost. I can even understand and empathize with his connection he feels reading the news article about the loss of Roses parents when she was a teen. I get all this. But did it not occur to you that by telling this girl this at that moment you are only cementing her ideas that sheâs nothing but a tool or a symbol of your sobriety?? Julian states from the moment he laid eyes on her he knew who she was. And from speaking to her just briefly he can see sheâs not some typical groupie or fan girl. But yet he treats her like one repeatedly. He pursues her even when in his own mind heâs involved with another woman. When he finally kisses her itâs after heâs become engaged to another woman (that day) for goodness sake and yet he does it anyway. He sleeps with her the first time and then basically blows her off not giving her any explanation of why heâs bailed. Then because Rose is a slight idiot too it happens yet again. And AGAIN he bails. Not to mention when he has his accident and everyone thinks he could be going to die and the one person heâs calling out to is her you think ...ok when life is almost lost this is the ah hah moment and itâs all clear.....But nooo... after reaching his bedside and promising him sheâd stay and wait he makes it through his surgery and whatâs the first thing he does? He ditches her AGAIN! Then he comes back to her yet again to apologize and make amends and by this time sheâs been yo yoâd around so much of course sheâs not ready or eager to sign up for that. But he states heâs in love with her so sheâs thinking hmmm could this really be something???.....But since Rose also has her own share of past trauma sheâs weary and unsure if she can let down her guard and truly trust and allow him or anyone in. So she tells him she needs time...understandably. But does he show good faith and give her that? Nooo heâs sleeping with the daughter of his first AA sponsor while heâs killing time and waiting. And when this comes to light he says that he had no idea if she would ever come around or not. And since they were technically nothing at the time he used this girl for comfort. Gee...thatâs what every woman wants to hear. You love her so much that you canât even keep it in your pants for 6 weeks while she works things out. An issue she might not have struggled so much with if you hadnât been waffling back and forth about your own feelings and what you wanted from day one.Now before you get mad at me for picking on poor hot but tortured Julian I will say Rose had her own issues with her moms death and her childhood. She definitely had things she needed to face and work out. So she wasnât entirely a victim in this. She couldnât truly commit to him. But under the circumstances I think she had to wonder if there was really anything solid to commit too? Julianâs feelings for her seemed as solid as quick sand numerous times. Enough to give anyone pause.Overall I did enjoy the story. I liked Rose wanted to smack Julian pretty often but couldnât help but like him too....sometimesAnd I admit it had a great ending. And if Iâm honest maybe the story while frustrating was more believable because it was about two very flawed people? It was a great read. Love this author.

Review: Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh........ the cover for this book has been changed. I loved the old cover. Oh well, at least it's still the old image on the cover of my Audible version of this wonderful story.I've become addicted to rockstar romances, but there are a lot of bad ones. This is one of my favorites. I decided to leave this review after rereading it yet again. I love to revisit my favorite love stories to reconnect with heroines who become old friends and the men who have to prove to me that they deserve these women. I have a weakness for artistically talented women with deep emotional scars and Rose is perfect in this way. Intelligent, feisty, independent, loving but hurt by a musically gifted drug addict mother, Rose creates music because she has to. It's part of her soul. Enter Julian, a critically acclaimed, commercially successful indi star who is twelve years sober when they meet. He's beautiful and magnetic, and everything Rose knows she should stay away from, but chemistry is hard to resist. Strong secondary characters like Julian's band mates, Rose's friends and family, including an eccentric clairvoyant aunt, help move the plot forward, but I was glad they were there to support Rose through the angst. She's such a wonderful, sensitive soul, that I would have suffered uncomfortably through the rock star drama without their emotional support. This book ends with a truly wonderful epilogue from Julian's POV that let me know she was in good hands - because all readers know that our favorite characters live on outside their books!

Review: I read another book by this author, who was new to me, not too long ago so when I found out about this book I just had to read it and I am so, so glad I did! It was amazing and I absolutely loved the characters most especially the secondary ones such as Greta, Owen, Matt, Melody and, of course, our hero and heroine, Julian and Rose. I could very well do with a Katherine in my life! The themes within the book were not easy going but very well handled. I could simply not put this book down at all and would highly recommend it if you like rock bands and angst in your books.
