We’ve all done dumb stuff in our lives. We all have regrets. Yet none of us plans to mess up our lives. Why, then, does it keep happening?

Life doesn’t have to be that way. You can fool-proof your life…as this book shows. God’s promise and pattern is for something better.

In The Best Question Ever, Andy Stanley effectively teaches the practical and lasting value of simply asking this question about our actions in all of life’s arenas: What is the wise thing for me to do, in light of my past experience, my present circumstances, and my future hopes and dreams?

This book probes for honesty —it pushes us to open our eyes to reality and helps us expose the little (and big) self-deceptions we have.

Prepare yourself.

You are about to be introduced to a single question that will revolutionize the way you make decisions.

Over the past twenty years, speaker and author Andy Stanley has shared the power of this question with thousands of students and adults all over the country. In this ground-breaking new book, Andy provides you with a filter through which to evaluate every decision in every arena of your life. As you are about to discover, the Best Question Ever will bring clarity to decisions involving your finances, your love life, your schedule, even your career.

People everywhere agree that their greatest regret could have been avoided had they asked the Best Question Ever and then acted on their conclusions. A time-tested truth that has immediate application, the Best Question Ever has the power to change the trajectory of your entire life.

Story Behind the Book

After continually making decisions that were short-sighted and hasty, Andy Stanley sought counsel. In Ephesians 5:15 he read, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise.” It was there that Andy discovered what he considers to be The Best Question Ever.

Title: The Best Question Ever will change every decision you make
Review: As I have read through these past reviews, I must say this book gets a lot of criticism because the question that is expressed seems "too simple."However, this simple question will change every decision you will make.Whether you are a teenager, adult, parent or pastor, this book will change you.The best question ever is..."In light of your past experience, current future hopes and dreams, what is the wise thing for me to do?"Seems simple, but it is certainly not easy to do.Based on your past experiences (growing up without a father, being raised in an abusive home, being influenced by siblings addicted to pornography) what is the wise thing to do?Andy Stanley shows that those that are raised around different influences have a greater likelihood of repeating the mistakes others make.So what is his advice? His advice is to ask yourself what is the wise thing to do?As you read this book, he brings up one thought that's so practical that I have suggested others in my life to consider it. Most people don't plan on getting in debt, addictions, or divorces. The problem is that many of us don't plan not to.We live life without limits and that's why we become slaves to sinful nature. This is a lifechanging book that will convict anyone's heart who desires change.

Title: Thought Changing
Review: Everyone should read this, and it is the book I recommend to everyone. I wish I'd have read it as a pre-teen. Andy Stanley presents everything so clearly and in such a fun, real and memorable way. I don't want to give away the book's details, but I can say that what Andy writes in this book has changed the way I think, has enhanced the way my husband and I taught our kids to live, and has helped us live with a much greater degree of wisdom. Don't let its simplicity fool you... besides the Bible, this book has been the most thought-changing book I've ever read.

Title: A must read
Review: Wow! This little book packs a punch. Starting with three verses in Ephesians 4 (but not ending there!) Andy Stanley unpacks a key principle to living the abundant life Christ promised through one simple but profound question: What is the wise thing to do? I was initially hesitant to read this book because frankly it sounded like another "health and wealth" Christian book that promises riches and success if you follow three simple steps that are kind of from the bible, but not really. This little gem is far from that false Gospel. This biblical common sense approach to decision making has profound implications for every area of life and is firmly rooted in the bible. I will be going back through it and using these principles at home and work. If you haven't read "The Best Question Ever" yet it is worth your time and worth your money. Read it!

Title: Andy Stanley writes an easy to read book with relatable material for every leader
Review: As always, Andy Stanley writes an easy to read book with relatable material for every leader, manager, minister or individual. He continues to cause introspection and fuels the desire for self-improvement. There are many self help books out there and some can be mis-leading, yet Andy Stanley has a clear directive in all of his books, "to push us to have a deeper relationship with God while bettering ourselves and in turn improving our relationships around us."

Title: Good book, good quetsion. Common sense, not common practice.
Review: Enjoyed this book and knocked it out in 2 days. Regardless of age, the wisdom within applies. A great question to ask yourself before doing just about anything - a wonderful habit to teach your children. Reflecting back on my own personal life there is absolutely no doubt that certain circumstances and heartache could have been avoided with more mindful consideration up-front. Well written and easy to read.

Title: High quality sermon
Review: I first saw this sermon by Andy Stanley in church - the pastor simply played this, rather than retelling the same words himself. I was so impressed with the message, I wanted a copy for myself.Quality of the video (recording and editing) is very good, including captions of quoted bible verses. The message is powerful in it's simplicity and "common sense." Although the message is inspired by (only a few) verses of the bible, Andy Stanley is not "bible-thumping" through his sermon. It's really more of a "motivational speech" for how to live your life (and encouraging your children to live their own lives) wisely and more successfully.

Title: My own fault for not understanding better what I was
Review: I thought I was purchasing a stand-alone book. Nope. It's kind of hard to follow along with this guide when I haven't seen the videos. My own fault for not understanding better what I was buying

Title: Reality Check NOT a blank Check on LIfe
Review: Andy Stanley takes his time building up to the best question ever and it is worth waiting for. The book is very easy to read and makes allot of common sense as applied to everyday things like money, morality and relationships. Every one of the items, Stanley references with passages in the bible but doesn't over do it. The context of writing would be equally appealing to a believer and also a nonbeliever. Religon or belief is NOT overbearing in the book; Stanley uses everyday activities as a metaphore of life and suggests that mistakes we made unknowingly can be avoided by knowlingly asking, "The Best Question Ever" as a preface in our everyday application of living.
