Title: I LOVE my Roku
Review: I've heard the saying before, "I LOVE my Roku" but never understood why until I tried this streaming service. I avoid wireless devices and rely on wired to avoid electromagnetic fields as much as possible. When researching steaming services, I kept hearing good things about Roku but was ignorant about what I needed to get it going and what any additional items needed to get it hooked up and use it.FWIW, for anyone that may find themselves in a similar situation, they may also need the following items in order to stream (depending on what you already have):1) An ethernet cable that connects the Roku to the router. 2) An HDMI cable to connect the Roku to the TV.If you have more than one TV or device that you need to access the internet with, you might need an Ethernet switch (network hub) that will accommodate more than one TV or device.Even though I'm an average to advanced computer user I still had reservations about getting the Roku set up. Two Roku's were purchased for each [NON-smart] TV. After both were connected (easy to do), I referred to a YouTube video explaining how to set/program the Roku. To my surprise, it went smooth and amazingly easy. Roku did a wonderful job at simplifying it --so much so that most could do it without incurring problems (barring complications beyond one's control).I have been using my Roku for several months now and LOVE it! There have been electrical outages due to weather and the Roku had no problem restarting.I will never go back to cable TV again. Roku offers a good number of movies & TV shows to watch. It's easy to figure out and program. Friends have often heard me declare, "have I told you lately how much I LOVE my Roku?"In short, I could not be happier.

Title: Fantastic for Seniors and Saves you Money
Review: We've been owners/subscribers of TiVo (and before that ReplayTV) hardware for decades now, but when our TiVo Vox stopped recognizing its cablecard and its satellite Vox Mini and OG Minis became useless, we decided to join the growing movement of cord cutters. All of our TVs are "smart" in that they have apps available to support streaming services directly, so we signed up for YouTube TV in addition to the other streaming services we were already subscribed to. Unfortunately, my father-in-law (in his mid-90s) just couldn't make the transition to using the TV's many-tiny-buttons remote and I was constantly having to help him navigate to what he wanted to watch. Something had to change ...I investigated the Chromecast and Firestick, but Google and Amazon have had differences in the past, so I took a hard look at the Roku and decided to give it a try.I'm happy to say that my father-in-law is absolutely delighted with it. He finds it easier to navigate than the TiVo he'd been using for years, and the remote's simplicity, button size and button locations are much more intuitive for him than the TV's remote (and in some respects better than the TiVo's).And for me, it simplifies things. No more troubleshooting TiVo Vox cablecard issues or connectivity problems between the Vox and his Vox Mini. And no more Xfinity/Comcast cable service; YouTube TV is $50 less per month. We had switched ISPs last year, so cable TV was the only thing we relied on Comcast for. The TiVo's subscription was $150/yr for the channel guide, so a net savings of almost $700/yr!

Title: Works far better than the Express
Review: I was having issues with my Roku Express ignoring my Wifi. Then I tried connecting via my phone hotspot, same problem. When I saw that the Ultra LT had an Ethernet port, I was "TAKE MY MONEY!"And of course, the Voice Remote was included, bonus.

Title: Remote Battery Performance Poor
Review: This Ultra LT model is not the latest. The latest was just released a month ago (Sept 2024), I believe. However, this one works very well except when using audio headphones plugged into the audio jack on the remote. When doing this the 2 AA batteries drain within about 8 hours when in use for that time. This time is just an estimate as I have not actually timed it. My point here is that using the audio jack runs the remote batteries down quite quickly. I have discovered that if you use the Roku Android app on your phone and plug the audio phones into the phone (instead of the remote) that that eliminates the battery problem on the remote. However, the maximum volume level on the phone is JUST adequate while watching videos. I have tried setting the audio settings on the Roku, but this does not help much. I, currently, do not have any bluetooth headphones, but would like to try this method as the Roku supports bluetooth speakers. Maybe the volume issue would not be a problem with this method.

Review: I would class the nVidia Shield as the premium media box but Roku's products are very well made, easy to use and they just work as expected. Keep in mind they are not really mod-able in that you are limited to the apps you can load but for those of us using the big services like Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc you can't beat a Roku. I also love the fact that you can plug headphones in the remote and watch TV when your spouse is sleeping or you want to keep things quiet. Not sure why there is a rating for gaming as this is not a gaming device.Highly recommended.

Review: Both in terms of quality, and in terms of ease of use, this is a really great product. I think the limitation now is my television I don’t believe it’s capable of any better image. What I really enjoy, though is the speed between things, and just the intelligence of the set up so user-friendly.
