Title: Great Book to Tour Italy
Review: I downloaded this book on to my Kindle before I took a Tour to Italy. It was wonderful to have the maps of all the places on the tour right at my finger tips. It had attraction details , so I had all the information before the tour guide gave us information as well. It also had some basic pronunciations to speak , although, almost everywhere we traveled most of the people spoke and understood English..I recommend it highly if you are touring Italy from Venice to Capri

Title: Rick Steve's is my go-to guide
Review: We travel A LOT! Tours are not our style. We prefer to utilize public transportation and rental cars at our own pace. Through the years, we have tried all the big name, trusted travel guides. Rick Steves' guides stand out as my go-to resource. Be sure to READ IT ALL! There is a lot of helpful info, beginning with prioritizing what "not to miss", depending upon how much time you have. Remember that Rick Steves encourages travel "through the back door" so that you actually experience the culture.

Title: Great, comprehensive, easy to use travel guide
Review: Great travel guide that gives an overview of Italy and its culture, details recommended places to see, ideas on where to eat and stay and good tips on how to get around to avoid crowds and how to see the best of your destination. I studied it well before I left and brought it with me on my trip—so helpful. Highly recommend.

Title: A must when traveling!
Review: I used this book to plan and execute my travel for my first trip to Italy. I have used guide books for so many places in Europe and they are always spot on with tips on all things. When I am planning and traveling his books are the first thing I go to. I would not change a thing. And the few times I did not follow his advice it did not go well. These books are wonderful!

Title: Somewhat disappointed
Review: I preface this review by pointing out that I'm a long time Rick fan & have seen a ton of his European shows. I naturally gravitated to this book for a recent 2 week trip to Italy with my wife. The trip entailed 4 days in Sicily and 8 days on the Amalfi Coast and Rome - and we've been to Italy before, so looking for orientation for the sites.Overall, I was satisfied with the Amalfi Coast/Capri parts of the book. I even met one of the Suzies he mentioned at a food shop in Sorrento & she autographed the inside back cover. However, I found myself disagreeing with some of his advice - for example, he advises ignoring the man who passes out walking sticks to climb to the top of Mt. Vesuvius and gets tipped on the way back. I'm in my early 70's and in very good shape, but I was glad I took the stick anyway; wouldn't have made it otherwise. One final disappointment: I bought this book assuming that it would cover Sicily also. It does not - and when I went back to look at the book details page, I realized that below the bullet points about what's in this book, there is a short paragraph suggesting purchasing "The Best of Italy" if you're only going for a few days. Right after that, it says "Want to explore off-the-beaten-path Italy instead? Pick up Rick Steves Sicily." To me, this is akin to selling a book on travel in the United States and then saying "To explore exotic areas, buy this book on Florida." It never occurred to me to keep reading to make sure all areas of Italy were covered. I did buy Rick's book on Sicily, but I think the Amazon ad ought to note that this book is Italy Minus Sicily in bold lettering.

Title: His Best
Review: I travel to Europe a lot. I have many travel books from different authors and companies. I got the Italy book for the first time back in 2007, and I got the updated 2019 book for my latest trip. To this day, I think Italy is the best of Rick Steves' travel books. Great maps, line-skipping tips, suggestions for activities, suggested highlights, directions, etc. If you only use one book to plan a trip to Italy, use this one.

Review: I use Rick Steves publications every time I go to Europe. I just finished booking all my accomodation for a 4 week trip to Italy next year and I couldn't have done it as efficiently without Rick. I am a former travel professional and now I plan my own trips. While Rick is not perfect and prices and situations change constantly, he provides the framework for do it yourselfers like me to plan our trips. It's the tips on road access, tipping, maps of the cities, customs, things and times to avoid in certain locales that really help me plan a excellent trip with most of the worry and details already dealt with.

Review: Great resource. Really helpful during the planning phase of the trip. During the trip I could rely on it for specific advice. The audio guided tours were accurate and easy to use (saved money and were convenient!) A future edition with Gluten-Free food locations would be nice!
