The gourmet chef “emphasizes naturally gluten-free ingredients” in this follow-up to Weeknight Gluten Free that’s “filled with scrumptious photos” (Cooks & Books & Recipes).
Many expect gluten-free baked goods will be less delicious and satisfying than those baked with wheat flour. Not so with these recipes, which are just as over-the-top delicious as any you would find in a bakeshop display case. Author Kristine Kidd is a former editor at Bon Appétit and a gourmet chef. When she learned that she had celiac disease, she made it her mission to learn to eat and cook as well as she had before, without skimping on healthy ingredients or flavor. This must-have book includes recipes for morning treats, cookies, cakes, pies, tarts, puddings, custards, breads, and other mouthwatering desserts.
“Kidd includes quite a few recipes that naturally don’t include gluten, such as meringues, nut tortes and flourless chocolate cakes . . . In short, like many gluten-free cooks, Kidd has learned that multiple strategies are required to try to make muffins, pies, cakes and all the other usual baked goods without wheat flour and its gluten.” —Winston-Salem Journal
“For the most part the results were successful and the replacement ingredients did not sacrifice taste or texture. Am I a sudden convert to gluten-free baking? Not yet. But for now, I am happy to be guided by the steady hand of an expert like Kristine Kidd.” —Cool Food Dude

Title: Love it!
Review: Even better quality than expected. Great photography, heavyweight paper and strong binding. Iâm so excited to start baking gluten free that creates foods that are as good as if not better than gluten items.

Review: I have made only one recipe here (the chocolate chip cookies) and love them, but I had to tweak the recipe because the first time I didn't it wasn't successful. The book has interesting recipes and great pictures, hopefully I can recreate some of those recipes successfully.

Title: delicious and more nutritious than most GF baking books
Review: I love this book! Haven't had it long, but I love the raspberry oatmeal muffins so much I've made them several times. I'm just now scarfing down the pumpkin-date-walnut bread (can be kept in fridge for up to 5 days⦠but it will disappear long before then!). Next: raspberry buckwheat scones. This book uses more "interesting" (and more nutritious) grains than many GF books.

Title: I'll be giving this as gifts--Great baking cookbook!
Review: This is a GREAT gluten-free baking book. It has the best brownie recipe in it, among other things. I've tried about 10 recipes so far and all are excellent, loved by even those not gluten-free. There aren't a whole lot of recipes in it, , maybe 100 at most (I haven't counted), but each one is a gem.

Title: Too much dairy.
Review: A nice book unless you have celiac disease. All recipes involve some form of dairy (which many celiac patients cannot tolerate) or ingredients that I cannot find certified gluten-free. This makes this cookbook useless for me. If they could only get away from the dairy, this book would be useful.

Review: The best Gluten Free baking book I have bought. Like the tips about using different gluten free flours for different outcomes and textures,Have made the basic pie and tart crust and it forms a dough, rolls out perfect without falling apart (like all my tries before this book). The chocolate chip oatmeal cookies were a huge hit in our household as we like the balance of flavours between the cardamom and chocolate. The fudgy ginger- nut meringues are yummy and you will find it hrd to top at one, great to bake with your leftover egg whites (I make them weekly and change the nuts almonds, macadamias, even put a lsa mix in a batch)My next bake will be the wholegrain walnut bread.
