Title: This thing works great!
Review: I watch a cooking show for background noise while i read. I don't know if I can mention "Americas Test Kitchen" so I won't bring it up. I saw the do several different meats and thought it would be good, if it works I have done shrimp several times. Juicy, tender not over or under cooked at all. Pork loin came out great. Chicken is amazing. I hole-heartedly recommend this machine. I'm 78 and don't want to spend all day at the stove. Set the temp and the time and walk away. you dont have to watch it to make sure you don't over cook it. If you are having problems with you electricity (We had power blinks for a few days after Helene) it clears the cooking program, just like it does with all the clocks. just put the temp and adjust the time and it'sgood to go. Lots of advice, tips and recipies online. just make sue the food is in a single layer, not stacked on top of each other. There are other machines that dont cost as much but I don't know anything about them. Lots of info online.

Title: Works like a charm
Review: You’ll want a chain weight and/or magnet weights and a vessel lid if u sous vide much. Breville joule holds accurate temperature and the software on my iPhone is intuitive and easy to use. Tried both egg & salmon fillets and both were perfect.

Title: The negative reviews are legit.
Review: Update as of 9/28/2024: I initially contacted Breville support regarding the problems that I was having. I can honestly say that was a huge mistake. As others have stated, they feel that they make no faulty devices and the problem must be with the customer and/or the setup. I was told that my problems must have been with my wireless network setup. If that was true, the device should have lost the connection AND kept cooking. Their attempts at trying to diagnose my problems completely ignored the fact that it stopped cooking when it shouldn't. Support was totally inept and illogical.Having tried Breville support and finding that to be a big mistake, I figured I would go ahead and initiate a return & replacement with Amazon having only a few days to spare. I received the replacement within a few days, and immediately cooked a ribeye without any issues. I tried several more test cooks, and not once did I experience any of the failures I did with the first defective device.Having said the above, I won't be improving my rating of the product due to the issues I experienced and the dismissiveness of legitimate problems by support representatives of the manufacturer. Customers should expect and receive better, especially from a device that retails for $245.Today is 8/24/2024, and I was excited to try out this purchase just delivered. Initial setup was relatively easy in the Breville+ app for iPhone. I had it on the Wi-Fi network in a minute. The device immediately wanted to perform an update, so I let that finish which took a few minutes. At that point I decided to try a cook. I had a frozen pork tenderloin, and after the usual prep & choosing my settings, I set the device for auto and went about my other chores with a 1hr, 45min approximate cook time. Well, an hour later I noticed the device had stopped circulating. I looked at the app, and it had a pop up that it had lost Wi-Fi connectivity, but that it should continue with the cook--IT DOES NOT! The temperature had dropped down to 129 degrees from the 149 degrees as set, so I know it did not complete the cook. Thinking this may just be a one-off occurrence, I manually set the device for a 150 degree hour long cook. After coming back to temperature, the device ran for 10 minutes and again lost Wi-Fi connection and STOPPED cooking. Of course, it's still there because I could immediately restart the cook from the app, but you must go through the cook setup again. It's like the device is resetting every time. For $245, I expect better. I don't know how far the first cooking attempt progressed, but this is definitely not something you can just set and forget. I tried contacting support, but my gosh...it requires you input a serial number and model number. The model number on the box (BSV600PSS1BNA1) doesn't match anything in their support system. You must truncate the last 5 digits I suppose--they don't advise you in any way. You would think that after inputting a serial number that information would auto populate and not require manual entry, but I digress. Now, they want the device batch code which I'm guessing is on a label not prominently displayed while the device is submerged trying to do its cooking thing once again. What a mess!I'll try finishing this cook, and might try contacting Breville support once again; but I'm already leaning towards just boxing this back up for a refund and getting a manual device. I wanted to like this thing that has glaring positive reviews, but we're not off to a good start.

Title: So far....so good!
Review: Worked great...so far! You MUST use your phone with their app to operate the unit which really isn't all that much of an inconvenience. I've only used it once, and that is because my original sous vide unit (ANOVA) stopped working after just 2 uses?

Title: Best of the Best
Review: This machine is very high quality. So far I have only made yogurt with it, but I will experiment with other foods in time. It’s well made and doesn’t take up much space for storage. Fun way to change up cooking. Another tool in the tool belt!

Title: Contradictory instructions, lax support
Review: I'm pretty tech savvy. I'm not wealthy. I splurged on this (paid for in installments) because I appreciated the supposed cooking speed that others don't have and supposedly great app. I also liked the compact size. It arrived this afternoon and nothing I do will allow the app on my phone to recognize it. I spent over 2 hours trying everything in their troubleshooting guide to no avail. The live agent help is not available all afternoon on the west coast on a Friday (the US office is actually in my time zone). All online information and reviews are about the 'Joule' app, which seems to have been replaced less than a year ago, which doesn't work with the Turbo model. The replacement 'Breville+' app doesn't see my device. I will wait till Monday, and if the live support chat agent is still unavailable, I will have no option but to return it.UPDATE Monday morning: I now understand what I did wrong, and as embarrassing as it is, I will relay it here to help others using it for the first time because it's not completely clear from the instructions. My mistake: I didn't look closely at the illustration on the inside of the lid. It says to get started by downloading the app, then it has an illustration of the Joule in a pot of water, and then an illustration of a hand pointing to the app on a phone. You must do it in that order; it has to be inserted in the water before opening the app. In my defense, the graphic guide in the included booklet (which I studied carefully) only indicates that you have to plug it in before opening the app, THEN it shows it in a tub of water. If you plug it in without water and try to connect in the app, you'll have to UNINSTALL the app before starting over in the specific order.

Review: This came with an American plug, item had to be returned after waiting 2 weeks for it. - disappointed friend on Christmas DayUpdate: I bought an adapter before returning, I went to the App Store only to be told that ‘This app is not currently available in your country or region’.As there is no controls on the actual Joule, this item is useless. Why would you even ship to this country when it can’t be used here?

Review: I chose this model after reading several independent reviews which judged it the best. It did not disappoint. Although there was a slight hiccup connecting to the app (the Joule Turbo needs to connect through the Breville+ app NOT the Joule app) but once connected, it couldn’t be simpler. I just choose what I want to cook and the app gives step by step directions. The appliance is small and compact and I like the magnetic base although it does have a clip to attach it to the container. I cooked steaks which were perfectly medium rare, something I’ve rarely been able to achieve on the grill. Ribs and pork tenderloin cooked equally well. There are dozens of recipes available on the Breville+ and Joule apps and I’m looking forward to trying more. I highly recommend the Joule.

Review: Owned a Joule before Breville bought them out. Got my new one and out of the box was faulty. It worked intermittently. Called Breville and after 6-7 emails , COUNTLESS phone calls and video evidence that the unit slowed down like it was losing power and water flowed to a trickle, they said it was working properly. What a joke, the worst customer service possible. And for almost $300 one would think u would receive superior support. Nope. Next time spend $120 for any other Sous vide/immersion cooker from China cuz it will perform better than this crap. Joule u disappointed me by partnering with Breville. What a terrible experience. Watch the video and tell me it’s working properly

Some are also happy with its beauty. However, some customers differ on heating ability, reliability, connectivity, and app control.
