Title: Great product
Review: I have used this for a few weeks now and I love it. My only complaint is it’s a little bit difficult to snap closed before sealing. I has and will save me lots of money in the long run since I buy most of my meats in bulk and being able to get all the air out of the package keeps it from freezer burn. The moisture setting is wonderful for stews and other wet foods. I like being able to cut a bag to size. It’s slim design makes it easy to store.

Title: Ease of use
Review: I had a different brand sealer for 10+yrs. Finally quit. Looked at numerous ones, read reviews and decided on this one. Works as described. Failed to read instructions which isn't unlike me. Took bags, placed items in them and couldn't get them to seal. Finally read directions. Had to completely close lid until it snapped close. Works GREAT. Runs the vacuum and when it has removed the air, seals completely. Then it releases the sealed bag. I would definitely purchase again in the future.

Title: A great basic machine
Review: This compact Foodsaver has one big thing going for it: it stores away easily.Now as to the machine itself:It has no storage for rolls. No big deal for me. I find it more cumbersome to constantly swap out rolls than to just seal and cut to size.It has no auto lock and release function. To get that you have to pay quite a bit more, and those machines are a lot bigger.It has no auto seal function. You cut a bag from the roll, lay it in the machine, lock the machine by pressing down on both sides until it clicks and the green light comes on, then hit Seal. When it shuts off you depress the two buttons on the sides and the machine releases the bag. Take it out, fill it, put it back in the machine, and hit Vacuum. The machine will automatically switch to Seal mode one it detects no more air. The only difference between this and the expensive machines are the manual steps, but you get in a routine quickly.A word on bags vs rolls: the quart bags are convenient, but I prefer the rolls in both small and large sizes. I cut the bags a lot longer than I need them and then open them just below the seal. I wash and reuse the bags until they get too short for anything. I write the contents on the strip ABOVE the seal, that way there is no confusion as to contents since that strip gets cut away. Doing this cuts way down on having to constantly buy these expensive bags. - Also, when I fill a bag I turn the edge down so that part of the bag always stays clean which makes for a clean seal. I hope these hints from a Foodsaver "oldtimer" help.
