Forced to move back to her husband’s country hometown, she’ll need family, forgiveness, and faith to save their marriage.

As a loving mother and wife, Leslie VandeKeere has overcome most of her own troubled childhood.

But when her husband Dan loses his business and starts receiving flirtatious texts from a co-worker, their dream home fund and their marriage fall on hard times. To keep the family afloat, Leslie reluctantly agrees to move back to Dan’s childhood farmhouse in Holmes Crossing…

With her lack of a religious upbringing, Leslie fears seeing her husband slip back into his tight knit family’s Christian ways. As she watches wedge after wedge come in between her and Dan, an unexpected emergency makes her wonder if her dream has become a nightmare.

Has life delivered Leslie an impossible test of faith, or can she and her husband find a way to unite their family in love?

The Only Best Place is a wonderfully-moving novel of Christian fiction with a dash of romance. If you like real-world characters, challenging family situations, and battles of faith over hardship, then you’ll love Carolyne Aarsen’s heartfelt country tale.

Buy The Only Best Place and escape into a story of love and sacrifice!

“Carolyne Aarsen’s lonely protagonist, Leslie, may be someone you will love-or she may be someone you actually are. A confused wife, trying to see the sky, she is stranded in her husband’s Eden. And the serpents would absolutely love to have a chat.” Jacquelyn Mitchard author of Cage of Stars and The Deep End of the Ocean.

Title: About life, family, community and God. It's great!
Review: First, let me say, I really loved the writing of this author. The storyline is interesting and a little different from the books I've read lately. The characters in this book are mostly Dutch; and, what does that have to do with anything? A lot in my world! We are friends with several Dutch families here in our community and love every one of them. They are honest, loving and dedicated to family and their Christian beliefs. They live the life they preach and believe. Reading this story made me smile in so many places and drop a tear in the not so fun areas. It's life and the way it is in raising families, making a living, doing what you have to do to carry on. That was my life as a young family so I had lots of emotion while reading about the VandeKeere family and friends. It is hard to be a non-Christian in a totally forever Christian family and community; it's hard to be different. I know how this can be and Ms. Aarsen, the author, did a fantastic job of outlining how difficult it is to not know God or never having read a word of the Bible but living with those that were 100% believers. Leslie had a hard time understanding all of this and it was written to perfection. There were reviewers and comments made that this is not a Christian book. How can you say that? There is no swearing; there are no sensual scenes; no theft, no killing, no child abuse, etc. that goes against the thinking of the good book. Does a Christian waver in his or her beliefs of infidelity? Sometimes. Does it mean they are bad and non-Christian? No. It means they must ask forgiveness of those they hurt as well as God.Give this book a try. It is an excellent example of the typical family, friends and community, plus the hardships that come with children, divorce and lack of money. It's about keeping on keeping on! It made me smile; it's about life.

Title: I highly recommend "The Only Best Place" for anyone looking for a well-written and heartwarming tale!
Review: This book was amazing! Absolutely well-written in a way I haven't seen in a long time and was able to draw me into a genre I don't normally read. There are so many layers to this novel that I enjoyed exploring. This was a believable and heartwarming story that hit close to home. I related to the main character on many levels. There are some life lessons that any women would do well to take home after reading "The Only Best Place." And one of the things I loved most about this novel was that it focuses on an established and committed romance instead of a new and just-flourishing one. The event of finding Mr. Right doesn't equal a "happily-ever-after." There are struggles and realities to deal with, and Carolyne shows us how holding onto love and faith will get you through tough times.

Title: Excellent
Review: I don't review a lot of books, but this was a great story and well written. I read the preview of it after I finished another book by the same author. Being a nurse myself, I was hooked! Really enjoyed the excellent character development of so many. Being Dutch, could relate to that aspect as well. Excellent book!!

Title: Hard to connect
Review: With a story told in the first person, you would think that Leslie would be easy to connect with so that you would understand and empathize with the problems in her marriage and her living situation back on her husband's family farm. Unfortunately this did not happen with me. Leslie seems very selfish and self centered. She and her husband have been struggling financially, emotionally, and physically. When Dan becomes close friends and crosses the line with a coworker, even though they only talked Leslie has a fit and begins treating him like he is the most horrible person in the world. Not only does she shut him out, she also refuses to get to know his family better and has running hostilities with his mother and sister. The only thing that changes her mind is their son becoming very sick. After he is released from the hospital, she decides it's time to work on her marriage and family problems.

Title: Good Read!
Review: Title: The Only Best PlaceAuthor: Carolyne AarsenPublisher: Misty Ridge PublishingReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: FourReview:"The Only Best Place" by Carolyne AarsenMy Thoughts....First of all this is a christian fiction and with that being said I thought the read was one that wouldcapture your attention all the way to the end. Seeing how a marriage of Leslie and Dan Vandekeerethat was almost broken then seeing how this story gets turned around where there is also dealings with moving to Holmes Crossing, Alberta, two children, a dog. business issues, let's not leave out those family members with issues, to a few friends, religious issues and you get one good story. This was quite a good read of one letting go of the past and moving on which can be hard as it was for Leslie. Will she be able to do it with all she has before her? What will happen after Leslie gets a little knowledge of what faith is and trusting in God? Thank you for such a enjoyable read of love and forgiveness.

Review: This was the first book I had read by Carolyne Aarsen and I don’t anticipate it being the last. The Only Best Place is written with a depth to the characters and story that I enjoy and don’t often seem to be able to find. Leslie is a very real woman with real problems, hopes, and fears – things that are very easy to relate to. I felt that the author really drew me into Leslie’s head. The relationships between Leslie and her husband, Dan, and his various family members are particularly astutely written and very realistic. The faith element of the book is quite low-key, but central to the story at the same time. Leslie’s journey to finding that faith is very gentle and believable. The only negative thing that I can find to say about the book is that if I were writing this as a professional reviewer, I would knock half a star off the rating due to the fact that a little proofreading is needed. There are also two or three persistent grammar issues that could be improved on. However, unless one is quite a grammar nerd (like me), these things might not even be noticed, and, even for me, they did little to detract from my enjoyment of the story. One thing that I really enjoyed about the book is its location. Although my husband and I are British we spent a year in the Alberta area, and I felt that the author really managed to portray not just what the place looks like but also how it feels. I could sense and relate to Leslie’s feelings as a city girl moving to the wide open spaces and tightly knit small town community. In conclusion, I highly recommend The Only Best Place and am looking forward to reading further books in the series.
