Her Charmed Pie Shoppe is open for business, but baker Ella Mae LeFaye is about to discover solving a murder is not as easy as pie…
Owning the Charmed Pie Shoppe and serving enchanted treats in the magical town of Havenwood, Georgia, seemed like a little slice of heaven for Ella Mae LeFaye. But now her hopes for both a lasting romance with Hugh Dylan and business success are starting to seem like pie in the sky, and Ella’s left wondering: Where has the magic gone?
When an enchanted grove is set ablaze, Ella realizes she has more grave problems. With her magic waning, she’s going to have to sleuth from scratch to stop an arsonist who has no respect for sacred ground—or human life…

Title: How do I love this series? Let me count the ways!
Review: First, the characters are interesting and likable with a few unlikable ones added to the mix to make things interesting. Ella Mae has a strong character with a good moral compass. She's loving and loyal to her family, friends and community. Even when she doubts someone she reserves judgement until and gives people a second chance. You can feel the longing for love and a life partner in Ella Mae and this story has the reader yearning for her to experience these things. There were a few very tense moments for me as I was worried that she would make the wrong choices and even a fatal one.I developed a craving for pie while reading this book, but unfortunately didn't get it. I didn't even get red Twizzlers, which are mentioned a few times and sounded so good. I wonder what kind of magic Ella Mae could dust a coconut cream pie with. I'm not one to read books about magic, but in this series I find it believable, or at least I can suspend disbelief.Getting back to the characters, which is the most important element in any book I read, the three aunts are each different and wonderful in their own way and also Reba, Ella's mother's best friend and guardian to Ella. They are all fiercely loyal to her. There's excitement and adventure. My heart beat faster in one of the last scenes. Thrilling! The ending was a complete surprise.Loved this book and love the series.

Title: Good Book, Satisfying Ending
Review: The second book in this series was not as enjoyable as the first, so in going into the third book I had reservations. It turns out this book was enjoyable and the ending was amazing. I look forward to the next installment. There were two 'downsides' to this book: some of the descriptive passages were a bit drawn out and I found myself skimming just a bit. Also, Reba's coarse (and frequent) references to men and sex is getting really old. Once in a while is fine, but constantly is unnecessary.Still, good book.

Title: A 5-Star Series!
Review: In the third book of the Charmed Pie Shoppe mysteries, Ella Mae LeFaye is set on trying to free her mother from her position as the Lady Ash. She's so set on the task that she's even neglecting her own business. However when a grove in another town is burnt down, Ella Mae has to step into her position as daughter to Lady Ash and help out, even if it means putting aside her plans to free her mother. With new people joining the town, Ella Mae and her friends are determined to find out who the arsonist and also stop a murderer, when one of the visitors turns up dead.I love, loved the first two books in this series. Ellery Adams takes the usual murder mystery boundaries and creates something special by not just including a murder mystery but a strong magical plot as well.In Pecan Pies and Homicides readers are taken on a further adventure with Ella Mae and her friends, as she tries to untangle who set fire to the grove, who the murderer and the mysteries surrounding her magical life. We finally get a hint as to why Ella Mae and Hugh literally set sparks alight every time they try to guess. In other words Ellery Adams has us gasping and sighing at every turn, with so many developments happening all at once!I love the characters in Havenwood, but what I love most about this series is the magical aspect. It's unique to the cozy world, in that I haven't read another series with the same magical concepts, and I really enjoy how at the end of each book I'm eagerly waiting for more! I can't wait for the fourth book in this series to be released. If you haven't picked up the Charmed Pie Shoppe mysteries yet, don't hesitate to race to your bookstore or library and start with Pies and Prejudice. It's a magical cozy mysteries that you will devour and will stay with you long after you turn the last page!

Title: My favorite cozy mystery series
Review: It is safe to say that I love the Charmed Pie Shoppe Mysteries and this book just extended my love affair! Pecan Pies and Homicides deepened the world building the first two books began and gave us a look at covens outside of Havenwood. There were wonderful new characters and we saw some growth from our old favorites. Ella Mae really stepped up in this book and is well on her way to becoming the Clover Queen. The previous book, Peach Pies and Alibis, ended with a huge blow to Ella Mae's family - the mystical loss of her mother. In this book, Ella Mae is still dealing with her mother's sacrifice and the loss is affecting every aspect of her life. When she hears that a nearby coven has had their sacred grove burned down, she decides it time to snap out of it and put her effort toward helping the survivors and figuring out who set the fire. Ella soon finds out that the mysteries are much deeper than she expected...Ella Mae stepped up and made her power known in Pecan Pies and Homicides. She didn't let the Gaynors derail her efforts and she didn't take no for an answer. She was constantly searching for clues to both help her mother and stop the firestarter, all while trying to help the survivors find a new home in Havenwood. She was also running a successful pie shoppe and keeping her relationship with Hugh going as well. She had a lot on her plate, but was able to balance everything and come out successful in the end.Her relationship with Hugh had some very interesting turns in this book. They learned quite a bit about each other and had to confront some unexpected situations, but it seems like Ella and Hugh are determined to work at sharing everything with each other. I'm glad that we finally know the truth about Hugh, but I do hope his background will be elaborated on a little bit more. I don't want to spoil anything, but there is a scene where Hugh isn't really Hugh and I'm wondering how in control he actually was and how much of the incident he remembers. I hope that he and Ella Mae are able to work through things, but I don't think they will be really settled until she takes him into the grove.Pecan Pies and Homicides also had some big changes for Ella's mother. She had sacrificed herself to the grove for the good of the coven, but Ella Mae was determined to find a way to save her. As her mother became more and more a part of the grove and less human, she wasn't able to connect with Ella the same way or to experience human emotions. She was actually becoming less human and more a part of nature. With the changes she experienced in this book, I'm a little worried about her. I just hope she is able to adjust with time. Two of the best new characters in this book were the brother and sister duo, Jenny and Aiden. They were both very funny in their own ways and helped to shake up Havenwood a little bit. Jenny was a perfect fit or the pie shoppe, though I wouldn't be surprised to see her opening up her own coffee shop in the next book. She played off both Ella Mae and Reba very well and I thought she added an interesting dynamic to the shoppe. Aiden was a firecracker and definitely needs something more to do than deliveries, but he was very sweet for helping Ella Mae and tool the job seriously. I loved his little crush on Suzy and I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of them together in the next book. The ending of Pecan Pies and Homicides left the door open for even more magical secrets to be revealed in the next book. I'm interested by the scenario that was introduced in the end and I'm eager to see how Ella Mae handles her new place in the coven. I thought she made some very smart choices and I can't wait to see her fulfill her legacy as the Clover Queen. Not too quickly though, we still need plenty of Ella Mae, the Charmed Pie Shoppe, and all the citizens of Havenwood before this series can end!
