Title: Stunning price/performance for a truly all-purpose binocular
Review: I just purchased the Vortex Crossfire HD 12x50 binoculars and have been putting them through their paces for a week, and had a few important thoughts to share. Firstly, I was looking for a true all-purpose binocular which was small/light enough to do birding in the day/dusk hours, plus do better than average duty as an astronomy binocular which could be either hand held or tripod mounted. I have many binoculars which excel at either of these tasks, but none really do both exceptionally well - until now.The price/performance on these Crossfires is simply amazing - I have spent MUCH more on binoculars and not seen the combination of sharp center of focus, awesome light collection in a light, and manageable form factor. The center field sharpness of the Crossfires is the best I've seen under $200 - and the 12x magnification takes advantage of this for easy marking identification on birds and wildlife. And the 50mm objectives keeps this identification available far later into twilight than any other handheld binocular I own. These are remarkably light and hand-holdable for 50mm bins - they weigh in at only 29.5 oz, and are extremely well balanced, with a firm, yet tacky rubberized body - with proper technique, these are easily as hand-holdable as my 10x42's. *** ALSO *** these close focus down to 6 feet! Yes, I said SIX feet. 12x combined with 6 ft close focus makes these perhaps the most powerful butterfly/insect binoculars ever made!Another plus - these are simply the best looking binoculars I've ever seen - something about the smooth curves and materials transitions from front to back make people ask about them all the time. All materials and mechanicals (focuser, diopter, body) are very high quality with near-perfect resistance to the touch. They are fully multi coated optics, including phase correction coatings, and waterproof/fogproof and O-ring sealed. For Astronomy, these shine even more, and simply outclass any 7x50 or 10x50 I've ever used. The standard tripod mount works perfectly, and on the stand, the Crossfires can star split better than any binocular I own. They are even better with easy reach star clusters, like M7 and M44, which sparkle with life here and demonstrate the joy of binocular astronomy. And to think these are roof prisms (not normally associated with astronomy capability) is even more astonishing - the optics and build quality are to be commended. They even throw in a full-blown binocular harness AND a neck strap - incredible value included at no extra cost.Summary: Low cost, very high quality, good looking, wide array of functionality, terrific, usable optics, best value in binoculars available today. And I haven't even mentioned the Vortex VIP unlimited warranty - how these guys pack so much quality and value into such a low price is kind of crazy - but you'd be crazy NOT to check these out! Highest recommendation.

Title: Sharp, Bright, Comes with all Expected Accessories
Review: I agonized over what binoculars to buy (not having any "frame of reference" to draw on). Eventually I decided that I'd rather have "more" magnification over "less", that a brighter view was going to be more pleasing than the dimmer view that smaller objective lenses offer, and that adjustable eye relief was important for people who wear glasses (like me). I was also surprised to learn that non-weatherproof binoculars can fog up just due to temperature changes - we don't want that happening. After having an online chat with an expert, Vortex brand was recommended for my price point. It ticked all the boxes in addition to having the newer/better prism technology. They arrived this morning and I'm VERY happy with them. I'm sure that binoculars costing several thousands of dollars would technically be better, but to me (and I say this both as a photographer and retoucher who makes a living out of getting images as clear and sharp as possible), I really can't imagine optics being any better - they're just superb; and this comes from a guy who hates images not being clear and sharp.I chose the 12x 50mm model - my only criticism is that this amount of magnification can be just a little challenging for my old hands to stabilise; it's not a big issue - and I'd definitely buy this magnification again - but just a "heads up" if you're thiking of getting a 12x and your hands are a bit shaky.Unit shipped with nice soft case - straps to mount it to one's chest (if you're "into" that - I'm not), strap for the binoculars themselves, lens cleaning cloth, & lens caps (tethered for the objective lenses, attachable to the neck strap for the eyepiece lenses). In summary - if you're uncertain about what to buy because you're concerned about quality but don't want to break the bank - don't hesitate to pick up one of the Vortex Crossfire range; they appear to be incredible value at their price point. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat (but probably won't have to due to their unconditional warranty).Apologies if this reads like an advertisement, but in a world full of over-promise and under-deliver, it's refreshing when something actually lives up to the hype and is great value for money.

Title: Narrow set eyes beware, otherwise good product.
Review: I have a 10x42 version of this style. They are fantastic. I think the clarity, resolution is actually better than the 12x50s. The 12x50s also just barely adjust to my eye spacing. This may be an issue for woman and younger folks.

Title: Clear, bright, sharp focused view.
Review: This is by far the best binoculars I have ever had. While they're heavy, they are well balanced. And the weight means they are as described, water, fog, and shock proof. I can't wait to use them when hunting. I had a pair of Lieupold binoculars, same price. No comparison and the prism came loose in under 3 years (never bumped or dropped them) and now they are useless. Double vision. I'm glad, because I got twice the quality binoculars for a GREAT price now with my Vortex 12X50 HD binos. Yep, Happy camper !

Title: Great value
Review: Are they the best? No. But they are the best at this price. Picture quality is clean, i don’t plan to get them wet or use in low light situations. But I’m sure they would do just fine.
