Any educator in the public school system will quickly tell you- it's tough out there! Between parents, administrators, standardized tests, and the constant stream of planning and papers to grade, it's hard for teachers to catch a break. And that's even before adding students to the mix. Christian Teachers in the Public Schools: 13 Essentials for the Classroom is the break teachers have been looking for. Full of personal anecdotes, useful and practical insights, and scriptures for survival in the classroom, it will encourage and equip Christian educators, no matter what grade they teach.

Title: Life Changing Book for Christian Teachers
Review: I have been looking for other teachers who have been called to teach in the public school arena and wondering how they navigate the burden of caring and wanting to teach their students that Christ is the answer. I have taught middle school English and U.S. History for 15 years; it breaks my heart to see all the hardships young people encounter, especially with what we are enduring as a world with Covid. After reading Dalene's book, I was reassured that there are other teachers out there who also feel the same and how she has been able to support her students and guide them towards God legally in the public school system. The Bible verses she referenced were so helpful and I have kept them near my desk for daily reference. Dalene has been a huge blessing to me and I was so excited to correspond with her through email when I finished the book. I highly recommend this book for Christian public school teachers who desperately want to help their students find Christ but are held back by the legalities of sharing faith in the school system. Thank you Dalene again!

Title: Excellent Resource for Teacher Ed Courses
Review: I have been using Christian Teachers in Public Schools as a text in my Foundations of Education course for our teaching candidates for the past 3 years. Each semester my students never fail to report how much they are impacted by this book. They come into this course feeling that as future Christian teachers they will have no way to share or live out their faith in a public school setting. After reading Parker's inspiring stories and suggestions, my students experience a complete change of attitude and become excited about the possibilities inherent in becoming Christian educators. The most common comments I hear are: "This book changed my life!" and "I am going to keep this book handy so I can refer to it often after I get my own classroom." I highly recommend choosing this text as a supplement to formal textbooks in any undergraduate Teacher Ed course.

Title: One chapter in - 5 stars!
Review: I'm one chapter in and I would already give this book 5 stars. I shared quotes with my colleagues and saved a prayer that I will recite daily.I highly recommend you put it out there to read this with teachers in your district. I really questioned whether sharing my faith was being hindered in a public school and this book helps me see that it's all part of His plan, with tangible ways to still show our faith. God Bless!

Title: Every educator needs to read this book!
Review: Even if you are not Christian, educators will enjoy these true stories of how God has worked in the lives and events of the author and her students. A very uplifting and inspiring book that will encourage educators in public schools.

Title: Would not recommend
Review: I was really looking forward to this book as a chance to get closer to God and further serving Him at work but this book does not help. It showcases a very narrow minded, unwelcoming view of Christianity. When you work in public schools you need to accept and love all regardless of anything else. This author seems to work under the beliefs that you are only good if you are Christian and that those of other faiths can't be good people and valued for who they are. I would strongly not recommend this book.

Review: I found this to be an encouraging and practical book for a Christian teacher. It's not perfect, not all is relevant to me; but of course every teacher has their own experiences and considering the US system is pretty different to the UK, I still found a lot of this very helpful.

Review: Not too many platitudes, as these books often have.... Just really good common sense advice and a heartfelt sentiment. I will read it more than once.
