Hello, and welcome to the amazingly delicious and healthy world of the vegan diet lifestyle: Christmas Cookie Edition.
Are you concerned about your health? Do you know you should be more conscious in your food choices? BUT, you say, IT'S CHRISTMAS! Read on!What better way to begin your healthy eating, disease fighting, saving the planet commitment... than with CHRISTMAS COOKIES!
The Science is clear
Do you know that the meat and dairy industries contribute hugely to the climate change crisis? Are you aware that heart disease, diabetes, types 1 and 2, some cancers, MS, can be prevented or reversed by what you eat?Have you realized that by any measure our health is failing and our children's is in jeopardy? These issues all come down to three things: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
I believe that cookies are the best and most fun way to begin this life saving journey!!!
Now, you may be thinking.... "WHAT? Vegan Christmas cookies, what does that mean? Are these hay and dirt cookies with some cinnamon and spice thrown in?
Well, no, and I promise you that vegan cookies are still delicious, even though they have no cholesterol, no transfat, no cow hooves, no chicken lips or any other weird ingredients! (These cookies do contain sugar and non-animal fat, so they are not meant to be low calorie.)
I bring all my culinary skill and expertise to these recipes and to all the vegan recipes that I will be sharing with you in my upcoming books.
Owning a catering business in Beverly Hills was great experience and I have since cooked for many people over the years.
The recipes I have to share with you now are just as delicious as those from my catering days, and so much more life-affirming.
Eating to be healthy does not need to be unpalatable.
Times have changed, with more and more people adopting this way of eating and wanting fabulous food at the same time.
You will never feel deprived or unsatisfied. Yes, even you carnivores will be amazed at how delicious a vegan diet can be!
I have gone from Fois Gras (goose liver) to homemade vegan Faux Gras (no geese) with cocktails and it is just as unctuous and satisfying, and I am so much healthier for it, (and so is the goose!)
My health has improved greatly since becoming vegan.
I have lost weight, and I have the energy of a 20 year-younger version of myself (Yes that would make me 12!)
I plan on being healthy, vibrant and active into my 90's and beyond,
and it's possible for you too!
Jump in and read through the ones that pique your taste buds, and let the baking begin!
So, without further ado -- here are my yummy and praise-worthy
Vegan Christmas Cookies!
With profound wishes for your health and happiness,
April Augustine

Title: Now a Believer in Vegan
Review: The Very Best Vegan Christmas Cookies on the Planet? Sure they are, I tried at least 10 of the recipes. I found that the Authors passion for cooking and cooking healthy stands out in the recipes offered in this book. The Author's connection with food is powerful and I can now say my connection to Vegan with these recipes has greatly expanded. Yes, they are soul satisfying and downright scrumptious cookies. No dairy, no eggs, I didn't think it was possible. The first on the list, Christmas Sugar Cookies, is one of my favorite cookies and the delicious icing made them all the more appetizing. Then I came across the Grand Duke Brownies and on my way through the list, there were the Cocoa Snickerdoodles, the Chocolate Clouds, Oh yes, what is a Christmas celebration without Gingerbread cookies? I could not resist Buttercream! I must say that each recipe that I tried did deliver delight to my taste buds. You think I am joking? Absolutely not, I tried these and featured them in my Christmas Open House to my neighbors. They were all gone in a flash, even the crumbs, and no one but no one was aware that they were Vegan. They all went home with a healthier stomach :)What better way to review a Christmas Cookie Book than to try a good cross section of the lists. The book delivers everything it promises. To impress your family and friends and to delight them at the same time, and top this with healthy eating, I highly recommend that you add this book to your collection. A five star effort by the Author.,

Title: Cookies for everyone
Review: Title: The Best Vegan Christmas Cookie Recipes (Saving the the World One Cookie At A Time)Author: April AugustinePublished: 12-1-12Publisher: Chateau PublishingPages: 105Genre: CookbooksASIN: B00AH04HW0Sub-Genre: Food & Wine, Entertaining, Holidays, ChristmasBelieve it or not there are Vegans in Cattle country and they are very good friends. I was so pleased to see The Best Vegan Christmas Cookie Recipes (Saving the the World One Cookie At A Time) so I would be able to make Holiday Cookies for them as well. Surprisingly they were enjoyed by non vegans as well, myself included.I started making cookies for the neighborhood kids for Halloween, but the true cookie kickoff was the week before thanksgiving. Between the dessert Ice Cream Sandwiches for the kids both young and young at heart and start of or weekly cookie exchange I had cookies everywhere. The Pumpkin Delights were a smash hit as were the Linda's Texas Bells. A new adventure for me were the Cookie Christmas Pops. They melted in your mouth and were so much fun to make.Barnes and Noble link: Not availableGoodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16637745-the-best-vegan-christmas-cookie-recipes?from_search=true&search_version=serviceThe Reading Room link: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=665368063604688&id=165170576957775

Title: A Vegan & Healthy Dieters, Dream Cookie Recipe Book, Come True
Review: What a great little recipe book and especially for me, since I definitely lean toward a vegan diet for the most part.Beyond the fact that this book is vegan inspired, it contains some very yummy and classic Christmas Cookie Recipes that I know I will love preparing and eating! When I cook any type of main course, desert, or baked goods of any kind, I do not use anything with preservatives, artificial color or flavor, or chemicals of any kind. I love purity and will not consume GM foods either! That said, I truly enjoyed this recipe book because everything I would have to deal with in the normal recipe book was already taken care of for me.Unique and delicious sounding recipes for things like; "Sparkly Cranberry-Pistachio Slice Cookies, Hazelnut Cocoa Spiced Cookies, or White Chocolate Christmas Haystacks" got me excited and ready to start baking!I recommend this book if you are looking for a vegan approach to some very yummy looking cookie recipes.

Title: Not my thing
Review: I may be being overly critical, but the recipes in the cookbook amount to take a standard cookie recipe and replace the milk with a nut milk, the eggs with a fake egg substitute, and the butter with a fake butter substitute. I wanted recipes that didn't use butter, eggs, milk, or fake versions of these items either. If you're ok with fakes, then this would be a great cookie cookbook.

Title: Who Knew?? Delicious -- and Healthy -- Cookies!!
Review: When I started to read this cookbook, I must admit I was a bit of a skeptic -- I found it difficult to believe you could bake Christmas cookies that are both healthy and delicious. But now, after trying several of the recipes, I'm convinced that it's true. (For the record, my favorite recipe so far is Gingerbread Cutout Cookies -- yummy!) I'm kind of new to the "vegan" lifestyle, but if these recipes are an example, I'm looking forward to the other books in Ms. Augustine's series. And by the way, I also love the extra touches in the book: the colorful holiday design layout and, especially, her family stories -- warm and fuzzy, as befits a Christmas recipe book. So okay, April Augustine, we've done dessert -- now let's get on with the rest of the meal!

Review: Although I eat meat several people in my family are vegetarians and experimenting with vegan food too. I, like April, also love to cook and I am always looking for options when my non meat-eating family turn up, so this book has given me a lot of ideas for next Xmas; just sorry I didn't come across it a couple of months ago now. Vegan ingredients are pretty limited so I will be intrigued to see how these work out. I've given this book 5 stars because there just aren't many books like this about and it's great to find some new sweet cookery ideas that my family will eat.
