A ride on a stormy day has disastrous consequences for Fitzwilliam Darcy, who finds himself grievously injured and bedridden–and with no memory of Elizabeth Bennet, the woman to whom he has been married for several years. Recovery is slow as his head injury has made it difficult for him to read and write, and a suspected fracture in his leg has made walking painful.
As Darcy’s recovery progresses, snippets of memory begin to plague him, and questions arise. He begins to suspect that his wife and those around him know more about the time leading up to his accident than they are telling him. Why was he riding on such an inauspicious day? And why does he keep dreaming of his mother’s brooch?
As the days pass, he finds he is increasingly beguiled by Elizabeth. She draws him in despite his concerns for her loyalty to him. He wonders if he can trust her love even as he finds himself learning to be in love with her again. Will the shadows in the past and the obstacles they have overcome defeat them? Or will he find happily ever after once again with his Elizabeth?
A Man of Good Fortune is a sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and takes place several years after the marriage of Fitzwilliam Darcy to Elizabeth Bennet.

Title: Another Excellent Book by Ali Scott! I recommend It
Review: So far Iâve read several of Ali Scottâs Pride and Prejudice variations â several times. Iâve really appreciated each and every one of them. She is a good writer who carries suspense through all of her books, and resolves that suspense in creative yet reasonable ways.âA Man of Good Furtuneâ begins with Darcy riding his horse in a terrible storm. He is angry, and suddenly he finds that he is terribly injured and lying in water during a storm. He suspects he is about to die when Col. Fitzwilliam finds him and brings him to safety. But when he awakes the world seems changed. Col. Fitzwilliam has aged years during the brief time they were apart. Who is this rather plain looking young woman looking troubled and caring for him? This book takes place about five years after Elizabeth and Darcy were married, but Darcy remembers none of that. He remembers his sister as a grieving fifteen-year-old girl, not a married woman. The entire rest of the book deals with Darcyâs struggle to recover his memory and find out what has happened to him. There is a mystery here, and Darcy is determined to discover what is behind it. Is there something nefarious between Col. Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth? What does he not remember? Miscommunications galore, as usual. Will he ever recognize that Elizabeth really is his wife and mother of his child? Will he trust her again? Everyone seems to remember himâall the Bennets (who treat him very well) and Caroline Bingley (who is even worse than in the original book). The ending of the story is not what you would hope for, but is richer for it. I strongly recommend this to you.

Title: An interesting twist on the title
Review: This book was quite good. About a third of the way through, when I needed to go to bed but didn't want to stop reading, I skipped ahead and read the ending. Usually, when I do that with a book, I find it hard to go back and read the whole thing. In this case, I didn't have a problem doing so. It still held my interest for the most part.I did find Elizabeth's behavior a little out of character at times, and a memory-free Darcy was quick to fall in love with her, but it was still a strong story that I recommend, and I liked the twist on the title (I won't spoil it by giving it away). The writing itself was good, too, with only a few errors (if you ignore the incorrect use of simple past tense when past perfect should be used, which virtually all authors seem to get wrong these days, sadly; at least this author only got that wrong 60% of the time instead of the 90% I typically see). Overall, a good read.

Title: a different take
Review: Iâve read a lot of variations, but few continuations. This was an interesting and engaging read, and I enjoyed it being exclusively from Darcyâs perspective. With his memory loss, it set up a mystery nicely. If I had to criticize it at all, I guess Iâd say that the mystery felt a little unnecessary once it was revealed, because everything stemmed from a lack of communication and withholding information from each other. But it was very well written, and the characters felt true to themselves in spite of this, and it kept me pretty dang hooked throughout. I will definitely read more by this author.

Title: 3 GR Stars - Wonderful narration, but...
Review: I use the literal interpretation of Goodreads star definitions, and three stars means I "liked it", but it did fall a bit flat for me. This is not based on the narration in this case, Harry Frost was wonderful as usual. The story progression and the multiple abandoned/unresolved character plotlines hindered my overall enjoyment.

Title: Amnesia is the silence of the unconscious. ~ Adrienne Rich
Review: If you could have selective amnesia, what memories would you forget? In Fitzwilliam Darcyâs case, his amnesia selects the years between his sisterâs near-disaster at Ramsgate to the present time in his life â when he is married with a child.Darcy had gone for a punishing ride in a storm. The first mystery: why would he be riding in that weather? Where did he intend to go?Quote from the book: And somewhere, amid the dark chaos, a riderless horse screamed, and Darcy heard the echo of thundering hoofs. Panic and pain assailed him in equal measures as he realised it was his horse and that he was no longer upon it.Darcy is saved by his cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam, and a rescue party. His hand and leg are seriously injured. Less obvious initially, he discovers that his memory is also impaired.Who is this dark-haired woman who is said to be his wife? When did he marry? Why did he choose this woman?Fear creates a form of spiritual amnesia. ~ Max LucadoDarcy slowly realizes that his wife and Colonel Fitzwilliam share a secret and zealously keep it from him. What did they discuss in the garden? Why did the Colonel leave Pemberley suddenly? Why does he write to Elizabeth and not to Darcy? And through Darcyâs eyes, we see Elizabeth suffering. Physical injuries are not the only pain possible. What regrets does Elizabeth hide?Heartbreak is its own form of amnesia. ~ Lauren KateAnother mystery develops: why did the Darcys leave London for Pemberley and leave their toddler daughter behind? Three-year-old Marianne â better known as Molly or âPapaâs little girlâ â is saddened by the evidence of his injury.Quote from the book: Before he could answer, Molly brought his hand to her lips and kissed each of his fingers in turn. âI kiss them better?âEvery time Molly enters the scene, she steals the show. Donât miss her tale of the enchanted scissors. I loved her! This is a great book from a first-time published author. Title: Great book
Review: It was so well written and kept me wanting to read more. My only complaint was I felt like the ending could have been a bit longer. It felt like it was kind of abrupt. Otherwise the characters were very well written and I really enjoyed the fact it was written completely from Mr. Darcyâs view.

Review: Darcy loses his memory at a bad time, when there are 2 mysteries afoot. A nice story, marred by the fact that we never know if he gets his memory back, or what really happens to the bad guys.

Review: This debut novel outshines many a published JAFF author. It is a high angst plot, told mainly from Darcyâs POV. Spoiler: his memory loss returns his personality to that prior to his relationship with Lizzy. Subtly, his perception of her changes and begins his transformation anew. The portrait of a man struggling to live in a reality he cannot remember is very well drawn. Add to that a mystery being hidden from him and we have grounds for complications and misunderstandings aplenty. The maturer Lizzy is beautifully drawn and Molly is a delight. As I read her second novel first, I now eagerly await the third.

Review: A very well written and captivating variation, but very dramatic and distressing. What I liked most was reading again how Mr. Darcy fell in love with Elizabeth again, despite all the prejudice regarding her family, connection and origins.

Review: The story is quite gripping until a somewhat rushed and disappointing ending. No real comeuppance for the badies, an improbable scenario (no self respecting wife would keep the truth from a worthy husband: Darcy is being treated like a child for no real good reason in the end). As we say in French: "Une tempête dans un verre d'eau." I can not help thinking Elizabeth a bit annoying, a bit teary, a bit weak in this variation. I like this Darcy though. This is overall a well written variation by an obviously talented author and some passages are quite clever. Shame about the weaknesses of the plot and the slightly ooc Elizabeth. I am looking forward to reading new stories by Ali Scott.
