New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery is at her heart-stirring best in this witty, richly layered story about friendship, love, and breaking free.
In high school, studious Jayne Scott and wild child Rebecca Worden, the famous Worden jewelry heiress, became unlikely best friends—a tie that endured even after Rebecca fled her family to live overseas. After Jayne’s mother passed away, she became part unpaid assistant, part surrogate daughter to the wealthy Wordens. But now, ten years later, Rebecca is coming home to Los Angeles to wreak havoc for the mother who all but rejected her. And Jayne finds herself pulled deeper into the Wordens’ complicated family dynamics—especially when Rebecca’s brother, David, returns as well.
David is the man Jayne always wanted and knew she could never have. But when he gravitates toward her in spite of his mother’s protests, Jayne’s vow to escape the family’s shadow is put to the ultimate test. As lies are shattered and true feelings exposed, Jayne must decide where loyalty ends and love begins....

Review: This book was a good read. Kept you guessing until the end, but really good. The ending was not what you expected.

Title: A little too over the top
Review: While it was an enjoyable story it was a little too much with the crazy family dynamics.I was also disappointed because the book itself, purchase via Amazon was pretty yellowed with age.

Title: Good, quick read.
Review: It was easy to fall in love with some of the characters.Hate is a strong word that I dislike, so I'll settle for despise for some of the other characters.I enjoyed the experience. This is truly one that you wished would go on and on.

Title: A crazy friendship
Review: I laughed, cried and got mad. A very disfuncual family. They dont seem to know what loving is. In the end all is good.

Title: Enjoy The Journey
Review: I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would after reading the first two chapters. The storyline begins softly but as you read it reaches crescendo proportions to the point that I had trouble putting it down to sleep. Read it first yourself.

Title: The Best of Friends
Review: Was it a blessing or bad thing when Jayne was taken in and cared for by the Wordens? she never cared about money or social standing, but was shocked at how to some people it was everything. Unfortunately that included Mrs. Worden. The family spirals out of control until someone reigns it in.

Title: Fantastic Read
Review: I am a huge fan of books . I found Susan Mallery a few months back. What a find. Her writing develops characters to the point you either love or despise them. The Best of Friends is a classic.Hopefully I will see these characters again

Title: Hmmm
Review: I'm really not sure how to rate this one. There were no real best friends in the book. Just people who used and hurt other people. Lots of unlikable characters. And an abrupt ending. But a bit of a HFN

Review: This is an incredible novel about family relationships and dynamics. How can a mother feel nothing for her daughter. Rebecca always knew her mother did not love her, and she was lucky to have Jayne as a friend. Unfortunately Rebecca like her mother did not appreciate Jayne and when Jayne and David fell in love they were certainly not supportive of them. Luckily David had inspiration and found a great way to secure their happily ever after.

Review: This book had all the feels. I couldn't put it down! Though i agree with another reviewer, the ending was a bit abrupt and i would've liked a couple more pages to wrap things up.
