Title: The last rice cooker you'll ever buy, probably
Review: Purchased in June 2016, used at least weekly since then (often 3-5 times a week)Before I say anything else, a note about cooking rice - RINSE YOUR RICE, PEOPLE. IT'S IN THE DIRECTIONS AND IT'S CRUCIAL FOR GOOD RICE.Fit & Finish:- Despite the shell being mostly plastic, this rice cooker feels a bit luxe and everything is nice and tight. The super shiny plastic is extremely easy to wipe down whenever it gets dirty.- The retractable power cord is an amazing feature, such a creature comfort. It works just like it did when we got it, albeit slightly slower now. I've never had a problem with getting it to go in the direction I needed.- The lid and hinge mech is solid and easy to use, just one big button to release. An interesting thing to note is the hinge only opens just beyond far enough for the rice pan to be insertable into the machine, so if it didn't pop up all the way and your hands are full, you'll need to use an elbow to nudge it the rest of the way open. My solution is to just pop it open and make sure it's fully open before I start doing anything else.- The handle is light and plastic but has not cracked at any point, not even the joints. This was something I was worried about since the unit feels like it could be an issue, but I kinda swing this thing around when moving it in/out of my pantry, and it's still totally solid.Product in use:- The user interface (buttons and screen) is intuitive, easy to use, and there are no seams between the buttons for any water ingress. The buttons on my unit haven't even started to wear down after 7 years.- As far as functions go, I only really ever use the White or Quick rice features - I don't eat brown rice at home, and haven't felt the need to use any of the other ones. I've also never used the timer feature as I am not the best planner. But this thing sure does make the most perfectly cooked rice every single time. It's honestly kind of rough having such high quality, easy to cook, white rice at home, and then go out to eat and the rice you're eating is just mushy and overcooked or gummy. This thing spoils you.--- A note about Quick Rice - I have found that the quicker cook time /can/ lead to slightly tackier/gummier rice if you open the lid as soon as the cycle ends. I would give it a few extra minutes to steam out before opening and the rice will be almost as perfect as the regular cycle.- Volume of rice cooked - I don't think I have ever maxed this thing out, but I have gotten close. What is MORE impressive, is that I can cook 1 single 'cup'** (**OF THE CUP THEY GIVE YOU TO MEASURE THAT CORRESPONDS TO THE LINES IN THE RICE PAN, WHICH IS ACTUALLY 3/4 CUP) of rice and it comes out just as perfect as if I cooked rice for 6 people. This amount of rice has never been short of enough for one meal for two adults. On quick rice, this amount cooks in like...15 minutes? And on White it'll start at 50, but will actually skip a few and be done in 25min or so.Summary:I thought for sure that $130 (at my time of purchase) was a bit overkill for a rice cooker, but I will 1000% buy another one of these whenever my current unit dies, if that ever happens. I thought 7 years was a good run (< $20/year for perfect rice at home?!) so any more time after this is just a big bonus.10/10, and 10/10 with rice. Reviewer: Youn

Title: Great, high quality rice cooker
Review: If you're a family that needs rice on a daily basis but you're trying not to destroy your bank account with one of those really high end models and simultaneously trying to do better than the basic no-frills model, this one might be for you. We need the basic no-frills one from Zojirushi and the weight mechanism at the bottom started to glitch over time. This is a known issue, and you can remedy it by stacking coins on it until it works normally again, but we opted instead to buy this one. Ultimately we're happy we did, because this model is nicer, has more features, works better, has lasted much longer, and is overall worth the upcharge for the quality improvements. Unlike the budget model, this one has no faltered or failed in any way and continues to function admirably, but more importantly has a special adaptability where it will adjust to the amount of water you put into it within a reasonable degree. So if you put in a little too much water (it happens), it will still somehow magically make perfect rice. I have no idea how this works, but they call it some wild overly long name and I'm glad it comes as a feature on these higher end models because it lets me be sloppy with my measurements.

Title: Impressive
Review: First zojirushi, tested it out the first day and left with a strong first impression. Lots of features, good accessories, style looks great in person, has really cool musical sounds. The retractable power cable is perfect. Rice paddle is really nice, cleans off easy with water after each use. Comes with a steam basket, though mine didn't come with the rice paddle holder, maybe because it's open box I believe. My old cheap rice cooker, aroma from costco, cooked jasmine rice within about 35min or so. This one does in around 50min or 55 maybe, which is fine because it produces very good rice. Comes out fluffy, nice separation, good texture. I believe these take longer to cook to produce better rice. There is a quick function if you are in a rush for some reason. The only negative I can think of is that it's made in china. Some say that's not necessarily a bad thing, but they have other models made in japan that costs more. You're going to want to read the manual for this one, it has a good amount of features that are useful and some cautions worth paying attention to.I really like it, even if it is made in china.Would buy again at 130usd. If you're paying near 200, you might as well get the neuro fuzzy logic white japan made model. That one has better reviews and test results.

Review: I waffled on buying this for years, literally 4 years because I’m cheap and I wasn’t sure it would be worth it.. I didn’t want another trendy appliance that wasn’t getting used and took up counter space.I wish I had bought this years ago.It works perfectly, takes up minimal space and is easy to use/clean.So much better than over cooked mushy rice or undercooked crunchy rice from instapot or stove top.I bought the 5.5 cup for a family of 6. It was enough for 6 servings and a lunch.Probably I would rather the bigger one as I feed a lot of people, but it cooks quickly enough that it’s not a big deal if I need to make more.I cook basmati which is calculated differently.Firstly the 5.5 cups aren’t actually cups, they are 3/4 cup. So 5.5 cups is actually 4 and a bit cups. Then with the four cups it is further reduced if you cook a long grain like jasmine or basmati.Long story short, the 5.5 actually only cooks 3cups basmati/jasmine.It’s easy to use and I’m happy with it, but I assumed the 5.5 cups was all rice, not just short grain/sushi.Also didn’t realize the “cups” are not in fact cups.Even with that, I still live this and it will hopefully get many years of use. For a smaller family 5.5 is great. Bigger family, probably get the 10 cup.

Review: I mean, what can I say? It's a rice cooker and it does an excellent job of cooking rice. I have had a Zojirushi rice cooker before and given it to my parents when I moved from Asia. So I got another one. In my opinion, Japanese rice cookers (not specific to this brand, I am just used to its operating methods) are THE BEST rice cookers in the world. Trust me, I am an Asian and I have been eating rice all my life so I know the difference between a meh rice cooker and an excellent one. For a much cheaper price, you can get something that turns raw rice into something edible but that's it. It's edible, nothing more. While with this artful piece of work, moisture and temperature are controlled in extreme precision so that the right level of moisture makes sure the cooked rice is neither too soft nor too hard and the grains don't break into pieces (unless you deliberately want to cook porridge) or stick together into blobs, as well as the accurate temperature locks in the juicy mouthfeel and intoxicating aroma when the lid is opened finally. It's perfect.Operating the cooker is super easy. Fill rice in the cooker, pour water as instructed by the marks, close the lid and press start. The inner container and the steam cover can both be taken out for cleaning. No weirdly shaped corners or slots, a simple rinse and wipe gets all cleaning done. The cooker can hold up to 5.5 cups of rice and that's enough to feed an 8-person family. It also offers functionalities to cook sushi rice or rice cakes although I have never used those functions. I assume they work just as well as cooking plain rice. It comes with a non-sticky rice spoon and it sings at the end of cooking. What else can you ask for?The only downside of this product is probably its price but I think it well worth it.

Customers say

Customers like the quality, value, and ease of use of the rice cooker. They mention it makes perfect rice, is worth the money investment, and comes with ample instructions. Some appreciate the MICOM system and say it delivers consistently delicious results with ease. Customers also mention the super shiny plastic is extremely easy to wipe down.
