It has all the makings of a picture-perfect wedding. There’s just one detail that could have used a little more planning…
Hulking ex–rugby player Spencer Carlisle has crushed on Daffodil McGregor since high school. On the field he knew the moves. Off, he was a clueless clod who never gained an advantage. Rejected and rebuffed, his infatuation finally cooled—like ice.
Now, it’s impossible not to feel the chill—since he’s the best man and she’s the maid of honor at their siblings’ wedding. For the sake of harmony, they’re calling a truce.
Daff has her reasons for being a cynic when it comes to romance. And twice as many for not letting on that she finds Spencer attractive—although she’d rather gnaw off her thumb than admit it. Still, there’s more to the sweet and sexy lug than meets the eye. Maybe he is the one who can heal her emotional scars. Maybe he’ll give her a second chance. Because Spencer could be Daff’s own best man—if it’s not too late to come to terms with the past.

Title: I am in love with Spencer Carlisle.
Review: Seriously, I couldnât say the last time I felt this strongly about a fictional character, but Spencer isnât like any romance book hero I think Iâve ever read. Heâs big and muscular and rough and has some mad skills in the bedroom, but thatâs where any semblance of typical hero ends. Heâs awkward. He gets nervous. He feels lonely and left out when his only living relative moves on to a new relationship. He barks orders when he doesnât mean to. He was a professional athlete who hated the sport he played. He currently owns and manages a sporting goods store. And best of all, he wants nothing more than to be starting a family in a committed relationship. Whatâs not to love?Daffodil is the prickly one in this relationship. Sheâs never been in a happy relationship and sheâs just learned to be content on her own. Sheâs not about to get involved with Spencer...or so she thinks. She finds herself in a weird on again/off again nonrelationship despite herself. The book is well written and the characters are strong. Itâs well plotted and compellingâonce you start you wonât be able to put it down. But none of that is the most important reason you should read this book. That would be the delicious Spencer. Get this bookâyou wonât regret it.

Title: the PERFECT blend of humor, heartache, angst and steam
Review: I'll get my very minor criticisms out of the way first so I can commence with telling you just how much I adored this storyline. The Best Man felt a bit slow moving at first, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. This story was the PERFECT blend of humor, heartache, angst and steam and I enjoyed every single second. There were some minor transitions that felt a little jarring in the moment, but other than that, this book was adorably unputdownable and I couldn't get enough. Daffodil McGregor and Spencer Carlisle are like oil and vinegar. They don't mix well, they push and spar and compete, but they're absolutely delicious when they come together. This story is an enemies to lovers romance kicked up a notch by the bittersweet history this pair shared in high school. I fell in love with their story. I was addicted to their push and pull, and I loved the bumpy journey that evolves in this book. Sometimes I couldn't even tell if these two actually loved each other or if they truly hated each other because their mutual disdain was so palpable yet their chemistry was so off the charts. Figuring these two out was entertaining, so emotional, and captivating from beginning to end. This is one seriously refreshing read. Natasha Anders has such a unique voice in romance and I have been over the moon for every one of her books. But I have a newfound appreciation for her work with The Best Man. This story was lighter than some of her other books, but super super steamy, and it made me unexpectedly laugh out loud more than once. It tugged at my heartstrings (those notes!!! Sigh.) And it swept me away with how absorbing the romance is. I so enjoyed Mason and Daisy's story in The Wing Man but I think Spencer and Daff just knocked them down a peg with this book. The more I think back on this book, the more I fall in love with it. Daff is infuriating at times, so relatable at others. Spencer is a big brooding jerk at first, but he truly stole my heart with his sweet words and his heartbreaking history. I adored these characters so much. I was enamored by their twisty, complicated romance and I am head over heels for this world Anders has built around the McGregor family. I may have started out anxiously waiting for the story to pick up but it didn't take long for me to never want it to end. The Best Man is a delightfully addictive gem of a romance, an unforgettable story of enemies turned lovers, and a uniquely smart story that's as sweet as it is salty. Now more than ever I can't wait for Lia's story just to see more of all of these characters! I really loved this book.Â

Title: Emotional and sweet read
Review: The author did it yet again. Really enjoyed this story. It is an enemies to no string lovers to friends to true love romance, where he falls first and hard! Spencer is a quiet, broody sweetheart! Absolutely loved him â¤ï¸ Loved the growth in Daff's character. She had her insecurities and past trauma that caused her to keep her guards up leading her to come off as a bit mouthy and bitchy, but she really is a sweet, loving girl who just wants to be cherished for who she is.Amazing writing with great spice and would always recommend her books.

Title: (Self-centered)
Review: For 90% of the book Daffodil McGregor was a self absorbed witch. Spencer, on the other hand, was amazing. What he saw in her was anybodyâs guess.

Title: The absolute best man!!
Review: Spencer is a big man, intimidating and not social at all. You find him in the corners at functions or not talking much at all. He is a loner. He also absolutely used to idolize Daffodil McGregor when they were kids.He still thinks she is hot, but never quite gets up the nerve to approach her. When he does he stutters and never quite says what he means to or would like to.As they get to know each other in their roles as best man and maid of honour for their siblings, they discover the true people beneath the facade.Daff has issues, huge ones. She doesn't want a relationship o to be tied down. Spencer wants all those things. How do they get around It? Is it possible? This is their story and I loved it. Awesome characters, great storyline. Well written.

Title: Fun, sexy romance
Review: Daff is the "cute" one of three sisters, Daisy is clever and Dahlia pretty, according to the family. Daff is also a people pleaser and that has been the pattern in all her relationships. So, now she finds herself in her early thirties not knowing who she really is and firmly believing that she doesn't deserve the love of a good man. Spencer has been in love with Daffodil since school and now they have to plan his brother and her sister's wedding together. Daffodil behaved reprehensibly at the start of the book, but part of the charm of this book is the growth in the relationship. Spencer is a wonderful hero, although very proper and shy. Another winner by Natasja Anders.

Review: I loved the story very much. I did however think there was too much bad language that added nothing to the story, and would have dropped a point for that if I hadn't enjoyed the story so much. Daffodil McGregor is very mixed up as far as relationships are concerned, and is a very brittle and abrasive person as a result. She is particularly aggressive towards Spencer Carlisle, and has been sine they were young. This is a problem, as she is due to be her sister Daisy's maid of honour when she marries Mason, Spencer's brother. Spencer is to be best man, so they will have to partner each other at the wedding. It is time to call a truce.Spencer is equally mixed up, but for different reasons. He is a lovely, lovely man, very polite and courteous, but very quiet and doesn't mix well. His low self-esteem issues arise from an awful childhood, with a drug-addicted mother and an alcoholic father. He had basically raised Mason, his only relative, ensuring that he was fed and had clean clothes to wear, albeit very old , threadbare clothes. He has impeccable manners. He has worked hard, and owns a large, popular sports shop, and has made a lot of money.Daff has been the girl for Spencer ever since he first met her at school, although her ridicule of him meant that he avoided her as much as possible. He cannot believe his luck when she agrees to shelve their differences, but it soon becomes very clear that they see their truce in very different ways. Spencer has no idea how to make it right between them, but even when it seems they are back to square one he does something really lovely for her every day. It takes Daff a long time to realise her true feelings for him, and it takes her finally working out what had caused all her previous relationships to be so caustic, taking away her self-esteem, that finally helps her be completely honest with herself, and with Spencer. They can then heal each other!Spencer is a lovely, well written character, I was in Team Spencer from the start of the book, cheering him on, and wishing Daff would get a taste of her own medicine! All the characters are well-written in fact, and it was good to hear about them all again. A pleasurable read.
