Title: My favorite new cookbook
Review: I have to admit I love cookbooks. What I like about this one in particular is that it has a real focus, being heart health, and is written by an actual expert. It's perfect for family cooking and I LOVE that the recipes have ingredients that are easily accessible and truly take 30 minutes or less start to finish. Plus, the variety really suits diverse palettes and dietary restrictions. My favorites so far (and yes I am going to make them all eventually) are :- Leek, Butter Bean, and Parmesan Orzo (I was so happy to have the leftovers at lunch the next day too)- Oat Risotto with Mushrooms, Kale, and Chicken (had no idea oat risotto was a thing and/or could be this delicious)- Chili Salmon Sheet Pan Dinner (my 4 year old even ate it!!)This book is a great addition to you cookbook collection, or great place to start if you want new healthy delicious ideas for your meals. I think it's a really nice gift too.

Title: Try it, maybe it will work
Review: The recipes are workable, though I would not get this as your first cook book (no pictures). The index is good and I have bookmarked some 5-10 recipes. The science is presented briefly at the start of the book. There are a couple things related to your heart, so in that sense it will get you healthier meals. And the 30 minute time is pretty much what I want to spend on a week night meal.As for the sodium part, be aware that only a part of those with elevated blood pressure will respond to lower sodium. Some may get a small lowering of blood pressure and some may get none. I will refer to the blood pressure books for details on that. Try "Blood Pressure Down" by Janet Bond Brill. If diet does not lower the blood pressure in a month, it's time to consult your doctor. Modern blood pressure drugs have rather few side effects and most are covered well under Medicare plans.Personally I have switched from Cheez-Its crackers through the months of sitting at home during the pandemic to mostly fruit and nuts for snacks. It can't be a bad move.

Review: The short introduction section provides sensible and science-driven guidance. It is reassuring, with advice that looks feasible to follow long-term. The recipes themselves are straightforward, with most ingredients being generally available. It is written for North American reader; measurements for flour in cups rather than grams, cilantro instead of coriander leaf, zucchini instead of courgette and "kosher salt" for cooking salt. The advice on shopping at shops with fewer options "like Trader Joe's" is less useful when the nearest Trader Joe's store is 3500 miles away, but you get the general idea.

Review: I've tried so many of the recipes in this cookbook. It's quickly becoming my 'go to' cookbook when I need inspiration for healthy, quick, simple meal ideas. It truly does only take 30 minutes (or less) and 10 ingredients to prepare the recipes. I love the flavor boost ideas provided for each recipe too. You can add a little boost based on your tastes or not at all! It's totally up to you. The recipes are flexible and can easily be adapted to suit your family's preferences. Did you know oats can be made into a savory dinner? Have you ever heard of making granola in a frying pan? There are just so many good ideas in this book. it's hard to chose a favorite!Hopefully there will be another book by this author. I'll be buying it for sure!
