Title: Buy The Beatles Red & Blue Vinyl. You will be blown away!
Review: Short and to the point review:Buy it, itâs The Beatles. Wonderful vinyl sound.Long and meandering review:I bought the Beatles Red/Blue Vinyl on pre-order Nov 10, 2023. I have an audiophile vinyl setup for listening and recording in 192Khz/32-bit float. After having recorded The Beatles Masters from 1988 last year, Iâm impressed with the lower groove noise on these new mixes/pressing. I canât hear too much difference with the earlier pre 1964 remixes but when âDay Tripperâ came on, I could definitely hear a âlargerâ sound. FYI: every song on the Blue and Red Vinyl has been remixed from the original recordings. The engineers in England and Germany did a wonderful job on the remix, pressing and packaging.Magical Mystery Tour. There is a guitar playing I have never heard before. Blew me away. This was the first Beatles album I had in 1967 from my brother. I listened to this 1967 pressing, the Master recordings from 1988 and the digital copy I have. No guitar. This remix is wonderful! I have listened to all 12 sides multiple times and love em all. Especially the Blue album Side 3. Has a lot of rockers on it and the end of Blue Side 2 has âRevolutionâ, an all-out a** kicker! I also like that all the singles that were not on the Beatles Masters are here. Surprisingly, I even like some of the cuts I didnât care much for in the past like âOld Brown Shoe.â Probably the crappy mix and pressing back in 1970.Since stereo records and FM stereo transmission are the same 50Hz â 15KHz, the gear I selected to listen and record the vinyl matches those frequencies perfectly. Donât confuse frequency response to harmonics that are generated at the time of recording/playing. Vinyl has that ability that early digital systems lacked. Thatâs why early digital mixes sounded rather cold. With the higher frequency sampling and bit rate that is available now for recording vinyl or live, Iâm not sure there is a difference anymore.I remixed to 44KHz/24-bit for my phone and it sounds great also. This probably is where most people will use their turntables digital to computer interfaces. Streams great to my blue-tooth speaker and my car stereo. Unsure if any of us can tell the difference at this high of a sampling rate. I finally have a system that I can properly digitally record vinyl on, and the digital playback from the Zoom UAC-232 at 192/32 sounds indistinguishable from the vinyl recording. I started with digital at the turn of the century and am finally there. I have always recorded my vinyl on the first play starting with reel-to-reel, cassettes and then digital.Iâm probably preaching to the choir here but perhaps I gave some new ideas to try out. Hope you enjoy these records as much as I have.Retired Military Aerospace and Industrial Manufacturing Engineer.

Title: New mixes, New experience
Review: The Red and Blue albums were in my family since they first came out, so I was really excited about these, because they feature a bevy of all new remixes, and after listening to them I have remixed (ha ha) feelings. Here is where the opinions come in.For the most part the early material that has been demix-remixed (demixing is made possible by new technology pioneered by Peter Jackson which makes it possible to break down each individual component of the song for remixing) in full stereo sounds great. One of the exceptions is one of the bigger disappointments for me because I have been dreaming for decades of a true stereo version of She Loves You, and while this sounds perfectly fine I do not prefer it over the original mono mix. I can't even say that I prefer it over the stereo outfake done by Dr Ebbets sound systems about 20 years ago. It is now in true stereo, but it is not as crystal clear as some of the other early material, it sounds somehow muted and fuzzy.By comparison I Saw Her Standing There sounds like it was recorded yesterday, and my all-time favorite song I Want to Hold Your Hand sounds celestial - there are many mixes of this song that have been done over the years and this one is to my ear the absolute best. I was ready to dislike A Hard Day's Night based on YouTube reviewers saying that the bongos were ridiculously loud, but to be honest I don't hear the bongos any more than I ever did in any mix - they've always been there.Yesterday is absolutely beautiful - the string quartet surrounds Paul's vocal in a very natural way that was never possible to mix that way before the demixing technology (the old recordings of the earliest material especially had elements layered onto single tracks that were impossible to separate until now). The tracks that have been remixed here from Rubber Soul sound absolutely amazing. The first song in this collection to really strike me as sounding unbelievably fresh and crystal clear was Norwegian Wood. I've heard that song a million times over the course of my life and I felt like I was listening to it the first time - every single detail was astonishingly immediate and vibrant. The Revolver tracks sound equally amazing but I'm quite familiar with them having bought the deluxe version of that last year from which these mixes were pulled.Overall - Well worth buying again for the new mixes!
