Title: Really works! Limited applications
Review: As soon as the package arrived from Amazon, I immediately put the battery in and quickly read over the instructions. A few days earlier, I had lost a metal screwdriver flathead/slotted bit in my lawn as I was refurbishing our mailbox. I searched for over an hour that day but could not find it for the life of me. I tried dropping another screwdriver bit in the grass to see what it would look like and found that once the bit was lost in the grass, it was almost impossible to find by eye and hand unless I saw exactly where it landed. In my case, I could only narrow it down to a 6’x2’ area of grass where I remember the bit slipping out of my hand.I began sweeping the area in 1’x1’ areas of grass but upon further testing with another bit, I found that if the screwdriver bit had fallen over 1” into the grass, the metal detector would not find it unless I was really pushing on the grass to get within detecting parameters. After ~30 minutes of this method without any buzzing or beeping from the detector, I decided to use it vertically like stabbing and sliding the pointed detector in line patterns. I started randomly poking and dragging the pointed end of the metal detector in the grass into areas that I thought it might have been in, and voila! It finally buzzed and beeped! I was so relieved to find my missing screwdriver bit (OCD, I know) and knew I had to write a review right away.This metal detector would’ve been very difficult to use had I not been able to narrow down the area where I thought it was. For example, if I had the screwdriver bit on a clipboard and was walking around the grass and suddenly noticed that the bit was gone, this metal detector would not be able to help me find the bit because of the very short distance in which this detector works. This is where you’d probably need to purchase one of those long beach metal detectors that you see on tv.Pros:Works, but very limited applications (probably works better in sand and gravel)Vibrates and has audible alerts. Beeps are more than sufficient to hearRuns on 9V batterySmall and portableComes with lanyard and belt holsterBuilt-in LED light, very dim though and not very practicalCons:You must know the general area where you dropped your metal item. Unlike a full-size beach metal detector which has more sensitivity and doesn’t require you to be on your hands and knees, this handheld will have you searching for hours if you a) don’t know the general area where you lost your item and b) dropped the item in something thick like grass or foliage. In my case, I was searching through 2-3” Florida St. Augustine grass and it was quite difficult.The metal detector only has about 4” of actual metal detection, which makes it incredibly difficult and time consuming if the area you need to sweep is large or drop location is unknownIn the instructions, it states that for small things the size of a paper clip or hex/screwdriver bits, the detection range is only about 1”. You would literally need to be on top of the item for this handheld to detect it. This will vary on the medium in which the item is lost though.

Title: Amazing unit for the price, and love the 9v battery system
Review: Came WITH a charged 9v battery installed, so I tested it out of box and unlike others I've used it will turn off and on with clear indication each time. It makes different sounds depending on how close to target.2" for a penny. A far more expensive detector does that at 3", but so what. That one cost $120more and was practically impossible to shut off. Not saying any names but it was a dark red one. This one has a light.Comes with a springy cord that gets pretty long, so it will only be practical if I hand it around my neck, but you also get a belt holster in the box. Pretty cool.

Title: Works great. Just not what I need it to do.
Review: I bought this to check ducks/doves for shotgun pellets to make sure I don't bite down on a pellet when I was eating my food. This thing works really well considering its size BUT it will not detect a #8 pellet at all. I touched the pellet directly and all over the detector and nothing. But it worked on everything bigger like screws and bolts and other crap in the garage. I had to return it because it wouldn't work for MY need but if you wanted a good handheld detector for other activities, this would work well.

Review: This is and amazing buy for a handheld waterproof metal detector. This portable handheld metal detector work's great and is so accurate at locating the smallest of item's. When you're bigger metal detector beap's to alert you've found something this smaller waterproof metal detector work's even better locating the area where to start digging. If your a nighthawk and you forgot your flashlight at home this has a small flashlight built right in and is very easy to use. The price of this handheld waterproof metal detector is inexpensive and a great purchase. That's why I bought myself a backup just in case I loss it, or for when my children want to treasure hunt with Dad, or Mom, too. Good luck in your treasure hunt and I hope you all find the score of your life. Your half way there if you've purchased this handheld waterproof metal detector already.

Review: Over the years I've purchased numerous stud finders, and none of them worked on plaster and lath walls, I guess because the plaster/lath is too thick. This unit detects the nails that fasten the lath to the stud, and it works PERFECTLY! This unit costs way less than many stid finders and works way way better. All you guys out there doing renos on old houses, get one of these.

Review: Seems to work well. I haven't actually used it on the thing I bought it for and I intend to use it on, which is pallets basically and making sure there's no metal in them before I put them through my planer, but I have ran it over various things in my shed and it did exactly what it said it would!
