Forever within the memories of my heart.

Always remember, you are perfectly loved.

Bertie Jenkins has spent forty years serving as a midwife for her community in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Out of all the mothers she’s tended, none affects her more than the young teenager who shows up on her doorstep, injured, afraid, and expecting, one warm June day in 1943. As Bertie and her four sisters tenderly nurture Songbird back to health, the bond between the childless midwife and the motherless teen grows strong. But soon Songbird is forced to make a heartbreaking decision that will tear this little family apart.

Thirty years later, the day after his father’s funeral, Walker Wylie is stunned to learn he was adopted as an infant. The famous country singer enlists the help of adoption advocate Reese Chandler in the hopes of learning why he was abandoned by his birth parents. With the only clue he has in hand, Walker and Reese head deep into the Appalachian Mountains to track down Bertie Jenkins, the midwife who holds the secrets to Walker’s past.

Title: Heartfelt story
Review: I started this book one morning and never put it down until I finished at about 9pm. Appalachian Song is truly a heart felt and uplifting story of survival, endurance, love and faith. The characters and setting are well drawn and easily take you away to another time and place. The conflict with the father adds enough angst to move the tale along without diminishing the innocence of the story. Overall a solid, feel good read for a rainy day.

Title: Wonderful Story
Review: Every once in a while, I find a book that has the prefect blend of God, heart, and heartache. This is one of those books.I confess I was a little shocked when teen sex was in the prologue (only alluded to, incredibly vague), and I almost put it down. But the story that unfolded was just what I needed right now. My heart is beyond filled. The romance plot was very subtle, which was actually super refreshing. I loved how the story focused more on the individuals and their family relationships (blood and especially chosen) than it focused on romantic flutters and couple’s drama. It was seriously the perfect amount.I was also impressed by the beautiful and natural way the author weaved religion into the story. I love stories that talk about my God, but sometimes it seems so preachy and forced. This story actually helped me deepen my own feelings for my Heavenly Father. So beautiful.Despite the element of teen premarital sex in the prologue, I still feel 100% comfortable stating this is a clean book. No language. And the prologue’s brief and very vague inference to the creation of a baby is necessary since the baby is kind of important to to the story.Loved it. Truly.

Title: this is absolutely on my favorite book list!!!
Review: Stop what you are doing and get ready to read this book until you have finished the whole adventure. This book has a good structure of an A and a B plot that alternate beautifully. All of the characters are fleshed out and the story was fantastic. I hope you will have it in you to give this book a chance. Have a wonderful day 🙂

Title: Meaningful story and well written!
Review: I’m from Appalachia, East Tennessee and Kentucky. I read this book to get a bad taste out of my mouth from the last book about my home. This book settled well, a wonderful story and written with respect of the mountain people and culture. It was not overly sentimental and had a very good message. I’m so glad I found it! It would also be a great book for anyone dealing with issues related to adoption. I feel I understand how some people who are adopted may feel and their need to find out more information about their past.

Review: What a beautiful story that really touched my heart. The author has a real gift for creating her characters with such depth, that I felt like I knew them inside out as I lived through their stories with them. The setting is so vividly described, it feels like you’re there.I cannot recommend this book highly enough for its beautifully crafted, heartfelt storytelling. Her books “Under the Tulip Tree” and “Count the Nights by Stars” are also phenomenal stories.
