Title: Incredibly Helpful
Review: My family and I are headed to this area in one week (eeeek!) and I was eager to look this guide over. We hike regularly, but the elevation is different, and our mountains are much older, so I was a bit concerned about adapting to the steep rockiness of the Alberta region. The guide was so easy to get into, and laid out in a fashion that made it easy to either read straight through, or to pick and choose what you need. I especially liked the care given to accommodating family and pets, since I started hiking with my son when he was quite young. All in all, a great way for me to feel I'm familiar with the area before we even step foot on our plane!

Title: Great guide to plan your trip to Banff - covers traveling, lodging & hiking!
Review: The author did a great job not only giving details on each hike distance, ability and equipment needed, but even covered the basics as far as traveling to Banff, where to stay, how to visit with kids and pets. There were details on many lodging experiences that are going to help immensely as we plan our visit. I will be studying the hikes over and over again to decide which hikes to focus on since we'll only have 5 days, but appreciate the in depth details to help us make our first trip to Banff the best experience! She even touched heavily on the need to get out into nature for your mental health which is something I do regularly, so it was great to read that part of her story as well in this guide! Recommended read to help plan your trip to Banff!

Title: Very informative Banff Trip Overview
Review: This book captures everything from how to prepare, from clothing to gear potentially needed. Details all the basic information that most people may not know. Very insightful and informative. Goes into great detail and talks of the complexity of each of the many trails available. Very helpful to someone like me that is planning a trip to an unknown place. It answered a lot of questions I had. I feel more confident in our upcoming trip. A definite read for anyone planning, or considering going to Banff or even anyone that would love to gain knowledge of a magical place.

Title: Great overview of Banff area
Review: Nice summary and recommendations for things to do in Banff. Love the breakdown based on what you may be looking for ie. short hikes, family friendly trails, etc. If traveling just to the Banff area, would recommend reading through for a very thorough overview. If traveling to surrounding areas as well, be aware that it will not cover those places ie. Canmore, Jasper

Title: Not helpful for selecting hikes
Review: Not recommended. Purchased this book to decide which hikes to take when staying in Banff and Lake Louise for 6 days. My wife and I like nature walks and hikes up to the moderate/intermediate level. Didn't find this book to be helpful. There is a lot of filler in which the author describes why she enjoys hiking and wants to ""show you how and why nature significantly impacts our daily lives . . ." Duh. . . Why would someone who didn't enjoy hiking and nature buy this book?I expected more coverage of different hikes in the Banff/Lake Louise area-- though to be fair to the author, the book is subtitled " The Best Twelve Trails for a Serene Escape in Canada." So literally, she only describes 12 trails in the area, although there are probably more than a dozen additional great walks/trails in the Banff area (for example, Sundance Canyon, Cave and Basin, Lake Minnewanka, etc.) Also, in many cases, the descriptions of how to get the the trailheads, and the best places to enter the trail, are either vague or unuseful. For example, she suggests starting the Johnston Canyon Trail (one of the busiest in Banff) from the crowded parking lot area near the restaurant at the 1st bridge. Wrong. In researching the trail online, most commentators suggested parking at the 6th bridge parking lot which allows you to avoid the crowds at the 1st bridge, and because starting from the 6th bridge makes it an uphill walk to the 1st bridge, and a nice downhill walk on the return to the 6th bridge. They were spot on, but Ms. Fulller doesn't mention this alternative. The book was rated at 4.5 starts, but I don't know how it got that rating.

Review: This is a short and concise but quite helpful guide to start with when planning your trip to Banff. I like that the content is easy to read, and very conversational and it feels like the author is speaking to a group of friends. I have been on most of the hikes mentioned in the book and I would say it covers them well. I also appreciate the short packing guides included in the book. Most of the information is publicly available on blogs and YouTube videos, but having this organized and consolidated in one spot is worth it. Don't expect this guide to cover every hike and tourist spot in Banff (you should discover some on your own when you are there to make your trip even more memorable!).
