Title: Nothing but love for this marvelous machine!!!
Review: Let me first tell you that I am an extremely picky person who is not prone to gushing over anything. I can always seem to find something to fuss about. I give this machine a triple 10!! I was suspicious of everything. My husband and I are both coffee drinkers. I don't always drink reg coffee. Sometimes half caf. You can make a cup of whatever kind you are wanting with absolutely no fuss whatsoever. And quickly & quietly. And there are 2 scoops so that if I make a cup of whatever kind I'm wanting that day, I can rinse out the scooper and then use the other scooper to make the kind he wants without putting a wet scoop in the container of coffee. I tend towards a regular size mug, but he likes a bigger man size mug. And sometimes one of us wants to use one of our travel mugs to take a taller cup with us when we have errands to run. No problem there either! In the blink of an eye you can flip over the silver plate that the cup/mug sits on and it becomes shorter so that you can use it for a shorter container.I tend to get frustrated with all the different machines in the house. It seems like a person needs a college degree and a 5 pound instruction manual to learn how to operate them. This one is as easy as it gets. You do need to learn how much coffee to put in the scooper to make your coffee the way that you like it, but that's about it. After you put your scooper with the appropriate amount of coffee in it, you fill your mug with water and pour the water in. Push the button. I always push bold. And by the time you do your next little morning chore. Feed the dog, open the blinds, etc. there's your coffee.I have read many of the reviews of this item and usually I will decide to purchase or not based on reviews. Glad I didn't let the reviews make my decision this time. The things that people are complaining about I don't see what they are seeing. I am very temperature sensitive and the coffee comes out quite hot. And someone wrote about a plastic taste?? Huh?? And there were several complaints about weak coffee. Now I will tell you that you will need to use a different grind of coffee for this machine. You will need to use one that grinds the coffee very finely. Like powder. Because of how quickly the coffee is made the water and the coffee spend very little time "together". Maybe that is their problem. You can't use the grind type that we are all used to using. The automatic drip grind. You won't get the flavor out of the coffee that you are used to. Take a few minutes. Go on a few of the sites that sell the different brands like Caribou, Green Mountain, Paul Newman, etc. and learn about the different grinds. It's no different that having to learn about the auto-drip versus the old percolator coffee grind that Grandma used to use in her old coffee pot. Remember those?I asked quite a few of my friends and no one has one of these so I went ahead and took the chance and bought one. I couldn't be happier. I just got done cleaing up our Cuisinart coffeemaker and putting it in the cabinet. We will save it for when we need to make more than a couple of cups of coffee. Maybe if company comes over. This wonderful machine is about 60% smaller than the machine it replaces so it takes up a ton less counter space. It also doesn't have a water resevoir that uses electricity constantly to keep the water warm 24/7. Why is that necessary? So you can save like 10 seconds cause the water is already hot? That sure doesn't help the electric bill. And frankly. I like my coffee to be made with fresh water. Not water that has been sitting around for days. My husband has been bugging me for about a year that he wanted a Keurig, but I refused to succumb to all the hype and get locked into having to use the ridiculously expensive per cup cost K cups. Even on sale, the cheapest I could find K cups were about 55-60 cents. And that was extremely rare. Now yes. That is much cheaper than going to your neighborhood _______ (you fill in the blank) but I just wasn't going to do it. I did find that there are now some companies that make reusable plastic cups that look like the K cups and you fill them with your own coffee, so that would have been okay. I guess. Those refillable cups were $9-10 each so I don't know what you save there. But somehow I just knew that if I kept looking I would find what I wanted and I did. An inexpensive machine to buy. Easy to clean and use. No stupid K cups. Doesn't take up a lot of space on the counter. Simple to use. Inexpensive to buy and use daily. Made by a company that has been around for decades so if heaven forbid there is a problem, my guess would be that you could call them and get it solved quickly and to the satisfaction of the customer. All in all, a rare thing. Good value for your money & a machine that is totally geared towards the customer's satisfaction. Go get one!

Title: Looks good, works great
Review: Being the only coffee drinker in the house I frequently was finding myself leaving behind coffee in the pot in my traditional 12 cup coffee maker. Some mornings I have one or two cups, others maybe four, all depending on how much time I have. Additionally I normally drink decaf as I am a bit sensitive to caffeine. Rather than waste coffee, I decided to look into a single serve brewing system to allow me to make as much as a want a cup at a time and when I want rather than being locked into a 4 cup minimum.Initially I had considered a Keurig given their recent rise in popularity (I was surprised to learn they had been around since the late 1990s) and availability. After looking at a few models I decided the brand was not for me due to 1) higher prices and 2) the k-cups. Since I would be using my own coffee I would have to use refillable k-cups and was not sure if really necessary. Next I went to the Mr. Coffee brewer that is compatible with the Keurig system at a more affordable price. While tempting, I was again unsure about if the k-cups were really necessary. Finally through Amazon's "people also viewed" section I found the Scoop Coffee Maker by Hamilton Beach. I read dozens of Amazon reviews, a mix of positive and negative, and decided to try it to see how it met my needs.First the Scoop is a slim and attractive device with its narrow profile and stainless steel finish. It takes up a bit less space on my counter top and looks better than the classic 12-cup pot that used to occupy the space. Use of the Scoop is quite easy: fill your vessel of choice with water between 8oz & 14oz and pour it into the water chamber. Next you take one of the two included scoops and, well, scoop up your grounds. There are two fill lines, one for the lower water volume and a MAX level for the larger brew. Getting the strength right took a little trial and error but after just a couple of cups I got it dialed in for my mug and taste. One word of warning, there is a reason there is a MAX level: too many grounds will gunk up the works a bit and require a bit of extra cleaning. Brew time was around two minutes for my 12oz Starbucks mug which is not the quickest, but is tolerable, as is the volume; brewing was much quieter than any standard 12 cup brewer I have owned. When the brewing is done the "on" light shuts off and you are ready to drink. And clean up the Scoop, which is easy: open the lid and take out the scoop and dump the grounds, then rinse. That's it. There is an additional filter inside that catches the really fine bits of the grounds and also pops out for easy cleaning. As far as brew temperature I tend to like my coffee pretty darn hot, and the Scoop does quite well in that regard. Temperature of the coffee can be altered by the mug you use and some recommend rinsing your mug with hot water before brewing. I use a mug with a stainless steel inside and have not found this to be necessary. For someone who is getting into the single serve trend or just does not want to bother with k-cups the Hamilton Beach Scoop is great way to go. It looks great, is easy to use and clean, and once you dial in your flavor it brews a great cup of coffee.Pros:+ Use your own coffee without needing k-cups+ Two brewing sizes, 8oz.and 14oz.+ Quick and easy clean-up+ Neat flip over stand for smaller cups/mugs+ Cheaper than other single serve alternativesCons:- Some experimentation needed to get your brew to your preferred strength- No the quickest to brew- A little splatter at the end of the brew- Too many grounds makes a mess, but that's your fault 😉

Review: I am so pleased with this little unit.I got rid of my coffeemaker that took plastic pods because it was bad for the environment and the pods were expensive. This is a great solution. It’s lightweight and streamlined. Fits nicely on my kitchen counter.I haven’t experienced any of the other issues that some reviewers seem to have either ;Coffee isn’t hot enough - mine is plenty hot. Just perfect actually.Coffee tastes like plastic - run water through the unit a couple of times before you use it; as per the instructions.Coffee splashes all over the place - turn the adjustable metal plate upside down to raise smaller cups closer to where the coffee drips out; as per the instructions.I like that I can adjust the amount of coffee grounds to my taste and choose a regular or bold brew (bold for me). I have also used it for tea; just put a tea bag in the filter instead of coffee. Works great!

Review: I’m surprised that along with so many positive reviews, there were also many unreasonably negative reviews on Amazon.com.If you can sense a plastic smell like a dog’s nose would, or if you are that picky, go get yourself a $5,000 espresso maker, then you have a good reason to pick on them. For a $50 single serve, this one is perfect if:1. You like to make a single serve2. You like a beautiful and sturdy design3. You like it simple and easy4. You like to directly rinse and wipe down all parts that need cleaning, away from the machine in a sink5. You like it super hot and super quick6. You like a permanent filterLearning from other positive reviews, here are all the tricks to avoid those negative complaints:- Grind your own beans at fine setting (I use Capresso Conical Burr 560 ordered from Amazon)- Use filtered or bottled water- Press a bit on the grounds using the back of a spoonWhy so many complaints?- Using pre-ground coffee, too coarse for this machine- Using tap water- Never used a French Press, so cleaning this simple beauty becomes a choreA funny complaint was about making a mess around the counter area by using this machine. All filter parts are specifically designed as removable, that means you can put in coffee grounds or clean them away from the machine, in a sink, or over a cheap plastic tray, whatever. If you make a mess out of a tiny scoop, it is not fair to blame the machine. All in all, thanks to all the negative reviews, the price has been down quite a few notches, go get it before everyone realizes the truth: this is the best single-serve coffee maker on the market right now. Then it could be out of stock all of a sudden.

Customers say

Customers like the coffee quality, ease of cleaning, and ease of use of the coffee maker. They mention it makes excellent coffee, the parts are dishwasher-safe, and the scoop is quite easy to use. Some also say the product works well and is perfect every time. Customers are also happy with the brewing speed. However, some customers have mixed opinions on the build quality, taste, and coffee temperature.
