★★★★★ FIVE STARRED REVIEWS! ★★★★★
A heartwarming picture book following a group of boys from different backgrounds throughout the school year as they become the best of friends.
Musa's feeling nervous about his first day of school. He's not used to being away from home and he doesn't know any of the other kids in his class. And when he meets classmates Moisés, Mo, and Kevin, Musa isn't sure they'll have much in common. But over the course of the year, the four boys learn more about each other, the holidays they celebrate, their favorite foods, and what they like about school. The more they share with each other, the closer they become, until Musa can't imagine any better friends.
In this charming story of friendship and celebrating differences, young readers can discover how entering a new friendship with an open mind and sharing parts of yourself brings people together. And the calendar of holidays at the end of the book will delight children as they identify special events they can celebrate with friends throughout the year.

Title: Religious, cultural, and secular holidays
Review: I absolutely love this book! I'm a huge fan of holidays, and many of my favorite holidays are not ones that belong to my native culture (DÃa de los Muertos, Lunar New Year, etc.). This year I centered my cultural curriculum around holidays in different cultures all around the world, and this was the perfect introduction to a few of those holidays while also being an introduction to my way of celebrating/looking at the world. I loved the inclusion of religious holidays (Eid) as well as non-religious (Pi Day) and how it emphasized that we all believe in different things, that they're valid, and that we can all enjoy things together even if we don't agree. I'm excited to introduce this at the beginning of the year next year so that my students can share what days THEY love best.

Title: celebration different cultures
Review: I read the book with my 6 year old daughter. We both learned new things and enjoyed the book very much. It is focused on inclusiveness which is much needed right now. I was happy to see that it was not all about religious celebrations and the non-religious family was included as well.

Title: Sweet book⦠butâ¦
Review: I will use this book as an introduction to our holidays around the world unit. As someone who celebrates Christmas, I wish there had been a separate discussion- one that was separate from Las Posadas.
