Struggling to care for her sick father and raise her teenage children alone, a divorced mother spends the weekend at a North Carolina inn, only to meet a former surgeon running from his past.
Adrienne Willis is 45 and has been divorced for three years, abandoned by her husband for a younger woman. The trials of raising her teenage children and caring for her sick father have worn her down, but at the request of a friend and in hopes of respite, she's gone to the coastal village of Rodanthe in North Carolina to tend the local inn for the weekend. With a major storm brewing, the time away doesn't look promising...until a guest named Paul Flanner arrives.
At 54, Paul is a successful surgeon, but in the previous six months his life has unraveled into something he doesn't recognize. Estranged from his son and recently divorced, he's sold his practice and his home and has journeyed to this isolated town in hopes of closing a painful chapter in his past. Adrienne and Paul come together as the storm brews over Rodanthe, but what begins between them over the weekend will resonate throughout the rest of their lives, intertwining past and future, love and loss.

Title: No surprise
Review: I read the following novels written by Nicholas Sparks in this order: THE NOTEBOOK, MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE, A WALK TO REMEMBER, THE RESCUE, BEND IN THE ROAD and finally NIGHTS IN RODANTHE. My favorite is BEND IN THE ROAD. I suspect that I like BEND IN THE ROAD the best because it is the least predictable. Like most of his novels, NIGHTS IN RODANTHE is highly predictable. Regardless of its predictability, I enjoyed reading it.I am sure that those who have read his other novels will respond in the same manner as I did. However, I don't think that people read Sparks to experience a surprise. Sparks is a master of the English language and through his talent of constructing a sentence, he can induce a person to continue to read. Sparks has the rare talent to draw a picture with words. Characters come alive and make a connection with the reader. The connection to real life that makes NIGHTS IN RODANTHE particularly compelling is the emergence of relationship triangles. I related to at least four relationship triangles. One of the three people has to make a decision reminiscent of Rick's final decision in the film CASABLANCA. To follow a path that fulfill one's emotional needs or to follow a path that is less altruistic but clearly more noble? Should a parent address the loneliness in one's life or focus on the needs of one's children? "That is the question." In real life as in the book, one cannot have it all. Like Rick in CASABLANCA and Paul in NIGHTS IN RODANTHE, only one decision can be made. Once the decision is made, there is no turning back. The elegance of NIGHTS IN RODANTHE is the author's ability to capture the feelings of making a critical decision and placing these feelings in the heart of the reader who vicariously identifies with the relationship triangle.

Title: North Carolina based 😍
Review: Good book. Not my favorite of this author but well worth reading especially if you love Radanthe North Carolina. In the middle of the book you can almost predict the ending which I didn't love. But I would purchase and read again.

Title: Another good Nicklaus Sparks book
Review: Yes I was able to read this excellent and moving story! This was of two persons being able to go a head and meet one another. At they were unsure of each other. It was only after having little things happening that they were slowly able to get to know one another. After a little bit they were able to slowly have things click and see that, yes see that they liked what saw. Then they were able to start liking then love each other.

Title: a bit of a surprise ending
Review: Not sure I expected the story to end as it did. I felt more could have gone into the story. The story was good at explaining how each character grew from each others experience. The author has a way of keying into a woman’s feelings.

Title: Nicholas Sparks is an excellent author.
Review: I like the way Nicholas Sparks writes what are mostly love stories, but with a bit of a twist from most.

Title: This one made me Cry
Review: I did not like the sad ending, and I like happy endings in a romance book. I still rated it as a five because while I wouldn't call it a page-turner until near the end, it did evoke my emotions, and it made me cry. Adrianne and Paul fall in love over one weekend. That is quick. I did not think a real doctor would go to visit a client whose wife had died after a surgery and found that totally unrealistic. I did think the reactions of her son and husband were realistic. This one is no where near as good as The Notebook. I doubt the author will ever write a book to beat it. I challenge him to, but this one won't do it. I am a fan and love his writing and books, but I was a bit disappointed with the latest two I read. I think the author did a great job of making the weekend romance believable with the woman being divorced when her husband left her for a younger woman, and the man's wife left him because he gave her no quality time. It was hard to believe how much he changed in regard to his work and time, but it does make sense that after losing a partner because of it, a change like that could happen. That part was believable. Doctors don't make house calls anymore, and especially against the advice of an attorney. That part was not believable. BJ Robinson, Author of The Azaleas Plantation Series and more

Review: As expected from Nicholas Sparks, the book is as drenched in emotions as the psyche of a romance lover can comprehend. The story focuses on the people who have crossed their youth and then the middle age, which makes it different from the regular reads we encounter frequently ( As per the taste of the author). Love surpasses the age. That is what we learn in this book. You never know which set of 5 days can change your whole life and make you fall in love with a person who is as alone as you are. Emotions bind here, build a massively beautiful monument of love where the protagonists reside. Moreover, the reader connects so easily with the surroundings and feel himself present there at Rodanthe with Paul and Andrienne while they apathise with each other and eventually discover a bond between then. The description of the storm, the sea, the inn is so vivid and lively. I felt an urge to go to Rodanthe after reading this book and while reading it. The pain which parents go through when their children fails to understand them is described so precisely. You can actually feel the pangs your mother and father has felt while growing you up. This is the hidden message in the book to care for your parents and value the sacrifices they have done for you. Romance is well spread in the book. It is sweet and not extreme. The end is, as usual, heart breaking. Nicholas Sparks ends the story in a sad way but you still end up smiling at the beauty of it all. The strength of the protagonists impressed me so much. Love is to give. Paul and Andrienne gave all they had. This is true love and ultimate bliss.

Review: It's a pretty book. Is a beautiful history of love. I couldn't stop reading it. I watched the movie but in spanish was entitled "Noches de tormenta", (nights of storm). I prefer the English title. I don't understand why it's changed the title in Spain.
