Title: 100 Best Places to Retire
Review: A must read for any retiree, especially those living in the snowy northern states. Excellent coverage on all facets of living in these areas.

Title: Good Place to Start Retirement Location Research
Review: When I bought this book in 2008, my husband and I were planning our retirement. We had different criteria for an ideal location. This book gave us categories to compare. The information in the book became our starting place. We did online research to verify the information, and find additional information, such as current housing costs and tax rates. Then we visited places we thought we would like. I liked the book enough that I just bought a copy for my sister. This book may not have all the information that you want, but it is an excellent place to start and help with comparing choices.

Title: Pay attention to the date of publication
Review: This would be a great resource if it was more recently written and contained reasonably current information. 2007 was a lifetime ago when looking at state taxes, property values, etc that have changed dramatically over the past 5 years. I would wait until a newer version is released.

Title: Informative book
Review: This is a good book giving lots of information. The stats I liked and are very useful. The narrative could have been better in that the interviews with the people for the most part seem to be with people who have lots of available cash. Not exactly your average retiree. I know this from those who were interviewed in this book who retired to my area (Arizona). Only the upper crust can afford to live and do what these people who were interviewed could do. Take the interviews with a grain of salt. I live here and I can't afford to retire here.

Title: Disappointing, Outdated Book
Review: Before you buy this book, note that it was published in 2007. I bought it ten days ago, thinking it would be the answer to my research dreams, but I was wrong. Not only did it arrive with someone else's shopping list inside (which means that the previous owner was smart enough to return the book to Amazon), but also the information in the book is disappointing and outdated. Potential retirees are pointed to some states with high property tax (like New Jersey and Texas); the reader has to filter through endless, highly personal stories given by people who have retired; and the book contains 2006/2007 hotel prices, which has nothing whatsoever to do with hotel prices in 2011, or retirement.

Customers say

Customers find the book provides good information on healthcare and taxes. However, some readers feel the slant is disappointing and outdated.
