Title: This is an Excellent Eating Plan!
Review: My husband and I were first introduced to Bill Phillips when we saw an infomercial for Body for Life several years ago. That was an excellent book, but we had a hard time following the eating plan because more room was devoted to the workout, and there weren't a lot of recipes. At the time my husband and I were both obese (I was morbidly obese) and we needed an eating plan foremost.Fast forward several years....my husband is a 5 year veteran of the Police Department at this point, and I've lost 160 from a gastric bypass. It's been 5 years since my bypass, and my weightloss has really stuck in the mud, especially after giving birth to two children in that time. My husband's weight also ballooned from his shift work and all the fast food consumed while driving around in a car 8 hours a day. When my husband stopped wearing his body armor because he couldn't fit in it, I put my foot down and said enough is enough! But, who do we turn to?I stumbled (literally!) on Eating for Life when I came to Amazon to research and search for dieting books and cookbooks. I ordered it without reading any reviews...without reading much about it at all because it seemed like the book we wish we had many years ago when we first tried to follow Body for Life.Since we purchased this book 5 months ago, my husband has dropped 45 pounds, and I have lost 23 pounds. I find the meal plan incredibly easy to follow. We're never hungry, and the cheat day (which is really just a cheat meal for us at this point)has allowed us to stick to the plan because 6 days goes by fast, and on the seventh day, we know we can be bad.One thing I will say...the recipes are excellent, and I've made almost all of them. I'm also a very fussy eater, and I haven't been disappointed at all! Some of the recipes were even a nice surprise because the picture didn't look all that great (sorry, Bill!)but the taste was fantastic! Even on our cheat days, we will often eat recipes from the book because we love them so much. Breakfast Burritos are a staple in our house and a great, healthy alternative to the eggs and bacon and hash browns we used to eat! We make fajita's all the time now, and can't believe we're "dieting" when we eat them! And Bill is correct...his Mom makes delicious enchilada's...again, we can't believe we're losing weight eating some of this stuff...but we are!This book has also been helpful because, occasionally, I forget to make my husbands lunch, or I get too busy and he needs to buy dinner. Bill provided healthy alternatives for some well known fast food chains, and my husband has been able to stay on the program on those rare occasions, even while having to "eat out" with the guys.We have coupled this book with the Abs Diet workout CD, and we feel better than we have in years. We are losing weight at a slower pace than some fad diets, but I really believe that we're doing it healthy and for keeps. I can't say enough wonderful things about this book.

Title: Great Guide For Planning Healthy Meals
Review: I have had this cookbook for many years and had great success using it to plan meals and stick to clean eating in order to get healthy and lose weight. I recently bought another copy because I gave mine away to a friend who wanted to try it. The introduction is great and full of really helpful information and inspiration. I really like that the recipes use normal foods you can find in the grocery store without having to search for oddball health foods that I cost too much and I don't like. Also, you can easily substitute things like the protein shakes for ones more readily available. Every recipe has a picture, which I love! For some reason I am less likely to make a recipe if I don't have a visual of the finished product. I really liked most of the recipes. Some (maybe less than 5 in the entire book) I never made because I know I don't like an ingredient or spice that is used. The recipes have generous portions and no calorie counting or point counting involved here. Just follow the Eating for Life plan and you get results. Of course you have to like to plan, make grocery lists and cook your meals. They do used some packaged stuff and are very easy to prepare. The only thing I don't like in the book is the visual of the chicken breasts, which look boring. I prefer to flatten my chicken out with a meat tenderizer so it cooks faster and more even. That was the advice I gave my friend along with the original book.

Title: This Is THE BEST "Diet" Cookbook Out There!
Review: Although I haven't really cooked much in recent years, I have collected cookbooks since I was young. I own at least 200 of them. In recent years, many of them have been "Diet Cookbooks." In virtually all of them, I have only liked maybe 1/10th of the recipes.That said, this is one of the VERY BEST COOKBOOKS out there! I almost didn't purchase this, because so many of the diet plans out there always do a half-hearted cookbook following their best sellers...almost like an afterthought. Also, I had been so disappointed with what I felt I would be able to eat while on the BFL program. WRONG!If you are looking for nutritious (but GOOD!) recipes that your WHOLE family can eat or you need to lose a few pounds or are even on another diet program, or if you are even THINKING of going on the BFL Challenge, I URGE you to buy this book!"Eating for Life" is AMAZING! It is a quality hardcover book and each recipe features a full page picture. But what floored me was that ALL of the recipes are GREAT! Most do not take a great deal of time to prepare either! (I have actually started COOKING again!)The ONE feature that could have been included was that the nutritional info is not included with the recipes. I have an online program that quickly converts this information for me, but it would have been nice to have this included.However, something that was included that I thought was so terrific - and am surprised that most cookbooks haven't done this before - is that for most of the recipes, it includes a little "cameo" picture of the specific brands of products that they used to make the recipe! I loved this feature because I have made many recipes before that because I used a different brand -- just didn't quite taste like the original. Most cookbooks don't feature this because I guess it is like "free advertising" for these products...but hey, if they are good enough to use, they deserve the exposure.Bill Phillips: You outdid yourself with this terrific cookbook!

Review: This is the best book about nutrition and eating correctly that I have ever purchased in the last 15 years, and I have purchased A LOT of cookbooks. Every recipe I have tried I have loved, and so have my husband and kids(they are normally picky eaters). Eating the recipes from this cookbook you can feel your body returning to equilibrium and a huge reduction in cravings! It is the only cookbook I will cook with for the rest of my life. It's hard to believe eating right can taste so good!

Review: I have watched Bill Phillips shows and enjoyed them, even if they were a little long. Bill has helped many folks to reach not only their goal weight but finished up with a body "to die for!" He advertised his book "EATING FOR LIFE" which I thought would benefit my daughter. I bought it for her, as she is a fitness and nutrition freak. The book arrived within a matter of days after ordering. I examined it before gift-wrapping it, and found that it's beautifully illustrated and easy to read. I sneakily copied a number of recipes which I intend to try for myself.I like what I've seen of the book and my daughter is delighted with it also. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to make an impressive transformation to their health and body image.
