Do you want to cook for a large group of people but are overwhelmed by the prospect? Look no further! Make meals that are quick, classy, and easy to assemble.
The need to feed a crowd is a fact of life for many Christian communities. It can be a struggle to find recipes that feed the entire group! Google “feed a big group” and you’ll get entertainment magazines with suggestions like “meals for six” - or, on the other hand, a mass of gray casseroles requiring only hamburger, cream of mushroom, and crushed Fritos. You deserve delicious, hearty, home cooked (and easy to make) meals at your Bible study, home group, or school event, without having to multiply the recipe by 16!
That’s why Rebekah Merkle has put together these soup night recipes with the scaling, menu, tips, and taste-testing fine-tuned from years in her own home.
If you want to take hospitality seriously but aren’t sure how, this is the book for you. It’s packed with no-nonsense practical advice about grocery runs, best kitchen utensils, soup-night logistics, budget-and time-saving tips, and husband-approved soup recipes (with bread and cinnamon rolls to go with).
Soup Night Slapdashery provides the 16 recipes you need to start practicing hospitality for big crowds. (Yes, regular-batch-sized recipes are included as well). The great news is this won’t take you a week of prep. With this handy cookbook, you can easily feed a crowd with just a few hours of work.

Title: Great cookbook for families or crowds
Review: Variety of soup recipes and a few bonus recipes (chicken over rice, Mac & cheese, etc.). Bekah has taken the time to calculate recipes for family or large groups.

Title: Super delicious, super simple
Review: I love that not only are the recipes delicious and simple, but Rebekah Merkle lays out a step by step plan for hosting such a large crowd. And not just for someone who's home all day to work on this, but for people just getting off work and trying to pull off a meaningful, nurishing meal with lots of people.I'm currently reading Rosaria Butterfield's book _The Gospel Comes With A House Key_, and so having a cookbook that makes me feel brave enough to host a crowd could come in handy.

Title: Everything Iâve made from this has been a hit!
Review: I have 5 kids and a big extended family. This book taught me how to properly cook chicken breasts in the oven and has put a lot of recipes into our regular rotation! Love the large batch recipes for big time hospitality. I also love to double the regular batch for regular hospitality! Beautiful to look at as well. And the title gets a chuckle when I share it. GREAT cookbook!

Title: Not many recipes
Review: I was very disappointed in this book that I bought as a gift. It is much more about cooking for a crowd than a soup cookbook -- very few recipes.

Title: Great for cooking for several families at once. Filling and affordable
Review: A couple of times a month, I cook a simple dinner for 25-30 people, mostly teens (homeschool speech and debate club meetings). I have a few of my own recipes that work well, but I found three or four others in this book that are fantastic. Easy, affordable (about $2 per person) and filling. Cooking for a lot of people can be tricky. I had to learn a lot of this the hard way before this book came out, so I'm happy this is on the market to help others start out more successfully. One additional trick: if you have a Costco nearby, they sell the meat leftover from rotisserie chickens in 2.5 lb bags. This works great for a lot of the recipes in this book or other big-batch cookings when speed is needed. Some may be skeptical of serving soup, but don't be. The right soups (including the ones in this book) can be super filling and calorie dense and win almost anyone over. If you serve with bread, no one will complain.

Title: Best little Cookbook I have...
Review: Everyone needs this little cookbook. It has everything you need for small to large groups. Have made several of the soups, love love them... My husband is a very picky eater! and he has eaten all of the soups that I have made, including the Chorizo Lentil Soup. Cinnnamon Rolls are very easy - even if you are a beginner. And to top the night off with great chocolate chip cookie or two!
