Fans of The Jeffersons, rejoice! All 253 episodes of the classic sitcom developed by Norman Lear (All in the Family; Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman) have finally arrived on DVD in The Jeffersons: The Complete Series.
Originally airing from 1975 to 1985, The Jeffersons documented the side-splitting exploits of an upwardly-mobile family: dry cleaning entrepreneur George (Sherman Hemsley), his wife Louise (Emmy® winner Isabel Sanford), and their son Lionel, as they move from the working-class section of Queens to a luxury apartment in Manhattan. George's brash, arrogant personality always seems to get him in hot water. Lucky for him, he's got the level-headed "Weezy" by his side and their wise-cracking maid Florence (Marla Gibbs) to keep him humble. Together, they overcome the comic challenges and culture clashes that their new way of life brings.
Featuring a terrific supporting cast (including Paul Benedict, Roxie Roker, and Franklin Cover), memorable guest appearances (Sammy Davis, Jr., Gladys Knight, Reggie Jackson, Billy Dee Williams and more)—and of course, one of the catchiest theme songs in television history—The Jeffersons: The Complete Series is another must-own sitcom classic from your friends at Shout! Factory.]]>

Title: Classic!
Review: My Jefferson Marathons are now complete. This DVD Collection allows me to view every episode from the Beginning to the End. Time stands still when I watch George, Louise, Lionel, the Willises, bentley, Ralph and Florence go through their changes. More than anything, I can now enjoy these episodes when and where I want. Who says you can't have your Cake and eat it Too?

Title: I could not be more pleased!
Review: I could not be more pleased with this box set! I just received it today as a Christmas present to myself and I could not believe how well constructed it is. The box is very sturdy. It's not one of those flimsy, plastic cases. The DVDs are well spaced out, not all crammed together. It also comes with a very lovely booklet which outlines each episode, gives some additional information about the show, along with some very nice photos of the cast. It's also preserved in it's original state as when first broadcasted, which is what I was really hoping for. I wanted to get this series before it was edited and censored for political correctness, and I am glad I did! It makes a lovely edition to my collection.

Title: I was surprised to learn this fact about the stars of The Jeffersons
Review: The five stars rating I'm giving here is for the show, since this product has yet to be released as of the date of this review. But instead of wasting your time with another comment on how great the show is - I have to presume you also feel this way, otherwise you wouldn't be reading the reviews of this product - I wanted to comment that years after I first discovered The Jeffersons, I was surprised to learn that the actress who played Louise Jefferson (Isabel Sanford) was, in real life, 20 years OLDER than the actor who played George Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley). I don't know how old the characters George and Louise were supposed to be on the show, but I'm sure if there was an age difference it was a few years at best, and if anything George would probably be older than Louise.Of course, in real life there are married couples where there's a significant age difference between husband and wife, but you don't expect to see it on TV where the actress playing the wife is just about old enough to be the mother of the actor playing her husband, but the characters are similar in age.The fact that Isabel Sanford didn't "act her age," as it were, yet I never thought she was trying to "act young," is a testament to her ability and talents as an actress.(EDITED TO ADD: During later seasons, random bits of dialogue in various episodes indicate that Louise was, indeed, younger than George. And, adding to this whole "age ain't nothin' but a number' thing, there's a 1980 episode where George's 50th birthday is celebrated - whereas in real life Sherman Hemsley was 42 on the day that episode aired.)

Title: The Jeffersons
Review: I bought these for my husband. He loves them and says they were one of only a few of the funniest shows he ever watched on television. You should have seen him when he saw what I ordered for him. It was priceless.

Title: Love George and Weezy! (Could do Without Florence 'the Maid'
Review: I thoroughly enjoy the show. For me, it loses one point for the character of Florence, the mouthy maid. If I was Weezy, I wouldn't put up with anyone, much less someone that was supposed to be working for the family, to continually insult my husband (even if I disagreed with him about something). So I have to ignore that character but both Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford are great in their parts.

Review: I bought this set not knowing much about the show's premise or the characters. It's worth the purchase, because it's a show you'll want to watch again and again. The writing is excellent and very funny; the jokes are not out of touch, and although decades-old, the storylines don't feel dated. While the entire cast is brilliant, Sherman Helmsley shines. He was perfect in the role and was a very talented man. Unfortunately, closed captioning is not available.

Review: I am enjoying these old "classic TV" comedy shows.. The Jefferson's arrived in good condition, sealed, and it got here fast.. It's hard to find these old shows, and I'm glad Amazon has them. So far, I have received good quality DVDs from Amazon.. Looking forward to finding more.

Review: I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This was one of my favourite shows as a sheltered white boy growing up in a small white Canadian hick town. The Jeffersons was hilarious, especially the banter between Florence and George. Watching as an adult, I can see how the writing wasn't always stellar, but there are still great moments and the nostalgia factor makes the set a keeper. George really makes the show in my opinion, with his larger than life swagger, obnoxious loveableness, and his entertaining dancing. If only this was remastered, if that is even possible. Picture quality isn't great, and I wish there were extras, like commentary. But I got the set for a steal at $80.
