Title: Great assortment
Review: A great assortment of the music that this man created with some of the best singers there are, I particularly like the fact of the first song. He was speaking to us about some of the inspiration he had in creating his work

Title: Historical
Review: For the most part, this is a nice cd. I purchased it for historical purposes. I heard of Thomas Dorsey writing a lot of old gospel songs. Some I knew and liked. Some I didn't know. So it is must have for me.

Title: Beautiful gospel hymns!
Review: Beautiful gospel hymns! Love this album! Precious Lord Take My Hand is one of my favorite hymns so I got the cd for thar and the price was cheap. But all of the other songs in the album are equally as good. In the title track, there’s an audio clip of Mr. Dorsey explaining how he came to write the hymn which has a very sad story behind it but the song really touches your soul. The songs have more of a bluesy/jazzy feel which I really like. I listen to it repeatedly because I love this cd so much!

Title: Take My Hand is way too slooooow
Review: This collection leads off with Take My Hand Precious Lord, the reason I bought this collection of Thomas Dorsey's greatest hits. If that is your motivation too, skip this CD. Marion Williams sings this great jazz classic as if it were a funeral dirge. It is so slow, you are challenged to find Doresey's glorious melody. Ms. Williams returns throughout the album and kicks it up a bit, but Take My Hand is just awful. If you find an album that captures the Dorsey jazz beat to Take My Hand, I want to hear about it. My other Dorsey favorite, Peace in the Valley, is sung by R. H. Harris and is just the right tempo.

Title: Great Grassroots Gospel!!!!
Review: This Gospel collection featuring the songs of the late great Thomas Dorsey is certainly worth the price and time for buying and listening to it. This amazing work covers the whole human experience-good times and bad. It shows our human fragility and our overcoming hope in God. It is a source of empowerment to all people that would listen to it. Thanks.KR.

Review: A very satisfying compilation of numbers ; the only reason 5 stars not given is the limited number of artists.
