Title: Good book for those new to seafood cooking
Review: This book was exactly what I needed. which was a solid introduction to cooking seafood beyond the tiny bit I knew. The tips on substitutions are very helpful. Not necessarily "comprehensive", but also not overwhelming.

Title: A wide variety of seafood recipes sans pictures
Review: This is the first cookbook that I have purchased in a long time. I usually have turned to Pinterest for its free recipes. But, Pinterest has changed over the years. Now my searches usually turn up commercials or long-winded blogs with page after page of opinion. There are lots of pictures though. Seems that anybody that can boil an egg is a blogger now. So, I wanted a book of seafood recipes all in one place instead of unorganized sheets of paper, and "Essential Seafood Cookbook" advertised as "recipes made simple" seemed like the solution. Well, the first thing I noticed about this book was there were not many pictures. This is very disappointing because nothing makes me want to try a new recipe more than a tantalizing photograph of the finished product. And, the recipes are not all that simple as many contain a long lists of ingredients. However, the instructions are clear and detailed and most ingredients are readily available at the grocery. I have tried one recipe so far -- the Oyster Po' Boy (I know what a Po' Boy looks like) -- and it was delicious, especially the sauce. It rivals the best to be found in New Orleans. So, I will try another recipe soon when I get back to the market to buy the necessary ingredients.

Title: Salivating As I Read...
Review: Full of mouth-watering and lip-smacking photos; this really is my kind of Cookbook. I am an east coast chick now living on the west coast. I can help but roll my eyes most times at the thought of buying seafood caught from the Pacific Ocean. Unless you grew up on seafood from the Atlantic Ocean, you would not understand this statement but take my word for it, east coast seafood is the creme de la creme. Sorry, I digressed. Until seeing this book, I've had no desire to cook seafood much since moving to Los Angeles. There are so many good recipes to choose from here, I'm wrecking my brain to settle on a Top 3 to try first. Guys, there's Lobster Mac & Cheese! Just when I think that's the one to try first; I flip the page to Jamaican Jerk Tilapia with Coconut Rice. What? We on lockdown but the thought of this one transports me immediately to the island of Jamaica. I am here for this. As if these two weren't enough to begin with I come across the recipe for the Drunken Crab w/ Garlic Fried Rice. OMMMGGG. I am in seafood heaven now and I can't wait to head back to the grocery and get everything that I need. Terri Dien did an excellent job with the selections she picked for this book. It iwas not just another "seafood as usual" type of vibe here. Terri worked very hard to bring to customers something pretty special. This book earns every single star given. I received as ARC by Callisto Publishers and I’m leaving an honest review.

Title: Simple and flavor-packed recipes
Review: This is a wonderful and unpretentious cookbook filled with a wide variety of fish recipes such as salmon, tuna, tilapia, red snapper, mahi-mahi, sole, sardines, catfish, mackerel and many more. I love the fact that the author takes her reader around the world with recipes packed with flavors covering a broad spectrum of cuisine such as French, Spanish, Italian, Jamaican, Thai, Japanese and Mexican. It brings a nice variety to everyday fish cooking. So, if you are getting bored with the flavors you are used to, I highly recommend this book. But more importantly, most recipes are simple, quick and extremely flavorful. I have prepared the Miso Lacquered Black Cod and Thai Salmon en Papillote and cannot wait to try more recipes as these proved to be fast and delicious. With the variety of techniques covered, this book can prove relevant to beginners as well as more seasoned home cooks. I particularly liked the fact that Chef Terri Dien went at great length to educate her readers about seafood safety. The preparation, ingredients and substitution tips are awesome additions as they give tricks of the trade to the reader. And finally, I have to say that I am fond of having the nutritional value for all recipes. The only thing I would have liked to see more of is pictures, but on the positive side, the pictures that ARE in the book are beautiful and very appetizing. Thumbs up for this book.

Title: The perfect seafood cookbook!
Review: Yes, I know. Another seafood cookbook, right? Not so fast. I absolutely loved the new cookbook from Chef Terri. What made this different? The style. I am a veteran teaching chef. When it comes to seafood, students often consider seafood an alien creature that only amazing, experienced chefs can prepare. Essential Seafood Cookbook puts that myth away by starting you on the road to cooking seafood with explanations and knowledge most novice chefs are afraid to ask. Once you have had your 'fish 101' introduction to types of fish, cooking methods used, and the tools you will need, you will put your fears to rest and concentrate on the dish at hand.Chef Mark Brewington MBA, CC, ACFAnd oh, the fun you will have. The recipes are neat, clean, and easy to follow. They are set so you may shop and mise en place rapidly and fastidiously. Chef Terri has taken the time to explain (also, within the recipe) any 'new' or unfamiliar vocabulary, ingredients, or kitchen tools. Again, I love this because all intimidation is removed to make the seafood cooking experience precisely what it should be...FUN, exciting, and (of course) delicious!
